Modern Koi Pond 2020 Mid-Summer Update - Lots of Growth!

- This year hasn't turned out anything like we'd expected and I'm finding myself at home more than ever. I've been enjoying the calming sounds and movement of the water and life within. We did finally make a trip to visit my family in Michigan for a few weeks and came back to the pond being overgrown, a little dirty and with a broken waterfall pump. We also had some other big house problems we came back to that have put a hurting on the bank account, so I'll be without the waterfall for a little while.
I see your requests for more content and I'm at the point where I don't have much maintenance or things to video about the pond except when I do things like today. I closed down, sold, and re-homed all the tanks I had in the garage when work required me to be on the road a lot. I'll do my best to keep you informed. My son's pet turtle did take over one of the 40 gallon breeder tanks I had. He hasn't made it on CZcams yet....maybe soon.
Here's a link to the equipment I'm using:
Danner AP-20 air filter I use: amzn.to/30qwiup
Pondmax PF3600 Filter: pondmax.com/pf3600-pressure-fi...
2600 GPH ProLine Hy-Drive Pump amzn.to/2Xr6nRr
That’s awesome !! It really makes me want to build something in my back yard
Nice pond.
Hi Tony... looks great. I'm working on my new pond. Closing down this time of year. I can't wait until spring ... mine is a job in progress!! Hope you are well and safe!!
we need another update maaan its been 3 years
Pond looks awesome man, great to see some content again 👍
Very good job! 👍
Very nice. Nice pond and set up.
Plants look great.
My ponds are full of plants.
Still looks good 👍
Great looking pond will you be doing any update videos
I will not. The channel is changing course. We sold that house a year ago. The pond was doing awesome and really tough to leave.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Can we get some more updates
How are the predators have they been major issues without a cage or netting? We have raccoons local cats but mostly raccoons that cause problems that I have caught trying to fish in our little pond it is why I am making mine MUCH deeper at least 4 feet straight down no ledges for them to take fish from. :/ I would love to hear how your fish have been fairing as you seem to be in a location with more wildlife. FYI I live in a city so I was shocked to even see the raccoons.
Do you need heater in the winter? How cold is your winter?
Great looking modern pond. I am about to create a smaller version in our courtyard here in FL. Did you add a skimmer? If not do you have any issues with floating debris? And how did you hide the liner under the flat stone. Do you regret not adding a drain?
I would add a skimmer next time which would help with the debris on the bottom. I don’t regret not adding a drain as the air stones help lift things from the bottom into the filter. But I don’t mind doing a little maintenance on mine
@@CCxRC thanks for the response. 😃
Do you have trouble keeping otters and stuff away from the fish?
Only issue we've had so far is snakes.
Where you at?
Hey bro can I put a 25w or 50w heater but it is small?
Hay r u gong to do any reefing video any time soon?
I sold, rehomed, and closed them down because I got a new job and was always on the road. Hope to one day get a larger one going. For now, I'm focusing on the pond and hoping to make it bigger.
Aren't you afraid of snakes entering your home?
Is that your only filter?
Too much water and way too many fish for it, check out other videos on CZcams about acceptable filtration for Koi ponds!
It’s not about water clarity, it’s about Ammonia and Nitrite levels!
Buy yourself some test kits and check your water weekly as these can both kill your fish!
The problem will get progressively worse as the fish grow and produce increased waste!
I have a similar sized pond with around 4500 UK gallons and my filters hold around 300-400 gallons!
There are more modern systems that hold less like “Bakki Showers” or Nexus, but small pressure filters are a recipe for disaster!
They are only really suitable for ornamental ponds without fish or just a few goldfish!
They don’t contain enough “filter media” to provide sufficient surface area for the amount of nitrifying bacteria needed to cope with the waste (poo) produced by Koi!
You could make a home made “Bakki Shower” quite cheaply, lots of vids on CZcams, (search) which you could add AFTER your existing pressure filter, will improve your water quality massively!
Where’s c3po?
C3PO Didn't make it. He's the only Koi we had go belly up. We lost one goldfish to a snake, but the rest have been growing.
make a new vid
I have a couple recorded that I just need to edit. We moved. Things are going to be changing on the channel very soon
