I would personally take care of the issue since it was only 500 miles. Word of month goes a long way. But if they had it for like 3k or more miles then I would be like your on your own.

Scott i'm actually going to have to look into a thermostat on my truck now as an issue, My a/c stopped working about seven or eight months ago on my 2022 silverado. Around that same time, the truck started to overheat, and the stealership put a radiator in it. The problem is still there, however.

I'm a plumber. I do the same thing. Same days I make a bunch of money other days loss a bit of money....

Your model is the one I was taught when starting in a computer repair shop, and then again as I moved through the corporate world....or in the case of a couple of them saw how they didn't follow that standard. In the long run that little bit of warranty work will be worth it. I'm always amazed how you can get those electrical connectors off so easily. For me it's a ride on the struggle bus.

Doing the right thing almost always pays out for you in the end. The only times it doesn't is when you are dealing with a person you should have refused to do business with. Unfortunately there are too many people who won't give you a chance to make it right before they start trying to ruin your reputation.

Had that ac/thermostat issue once on a 2008 GMC Canyon... it does happen.

Great job on the repair Scott. Ive always said you are the best in the business and this just shows it. You got an return customer and will gain alot more customers from this repair.

In these cases, I’ve offered to give some cash back, like $300, but if the customer already took it to a shop and was told it will take $1000 to fix it, that might not work. I would offer to buy the car back, less something for the miles put on, like what the IRS allows, 65 cents a mile, or about $325 in this case. If they got a real good deal, they might decide just to take the $300 good will adjustment and keep it. If you can do it much cheaper, that would be the way to go, but understand, in the buyers mind that might be an open ended implied warranty for when the next thing on the car goes out.

Always look at the condition of the fuse. If there is a silver spot on the plastic, there is a dead short. If the link just melted away, it is an overload. Note , this does not work so well with square fuses that have female connectors / color plastic body and clear window as the fuse link is too far away.

Good job Brother….had very similar experience myself. Sold a 2012 Buick LaCrosse and a month later the young lady calls and says A/C blows hot. K….. she comes by and sure enough have 90 psi, power and ground going to the compressor. Got an AC Delco from Rock auto for $250, installed and she’s back on the road @ no cost to her. Good Business

It’s a gm product, most of those leave the factory defective. Buyer beware.

Old turbo can be cleaned out and save money and time but not saying it's the best way too do things guys !FYI

You can just take ohmeter and check clutch coil resistance and see if coil is open and juste replace that part without remove compressor and drain freon.

That compressor had loads of room around it. So, why did you go through the process of replacing the whole compressor rather than just the clutch, and in place? There's no way of knowing if the used compressor will be noisy, and you have a pretty good idea that all that's wrong with the existing one is the clutch. Of course, I don't have access to that nifty AC service machine, so my first thought does not involve sucking down the system to do the repair.
