- Here is my answer to all the "experts" that have told me that if you just avoid salvage titles, you won't get scammed. This Honda HRV sport has determined that is a lie! Let's take a look at it so we can see why we don't want it... at least not for $8500.

It even has a rock to stop it from rolling forward!!!😂😂😂
That’s the parking rock! If they throw it in for the buy it now price, I’m a buyer! 😂
I'd rather have a rock than those stupid new electronic e-brakes
@@samholdsworth420 The reason for electronic PARKING brakes is that too many people don't set the PARKING brake before leaving the car. This can lead to a roll away if the car isn't in park or linkage comes off because of the added stress when ripping the shifter out of park when the car is up against the parking pawl.
I've had a delivery person in a car leave the trans in reverse when pointed down hill and the car rolled forward into my wall.
I also looked at a car for someone at work, they put the shifter in park, no parking brake and linkage came off and the car was actually in reverse / engine off and they nearly were run over as they exited the car
And. . google Anton Yelchin then get back to me.
The Flintstones premium package, nice.
Scott, always enjoy your videos. Seeing as you are concentrating on scams, here's one I investigated before I retired. I had a complaint concerning a rebuilt Dodge Caravan. I was LEO in FL, and they were the big lease vehicles there. We had a dealer that was buying wrecked rental Caravans and Chrysler Sebring convertibles and reselling them as low mileage dealer demos. They would piece together 2 vehicles and then sell them to unsuspecting customers. My investigation revealed 30+ vehicles were sold like this. Chrysler shut down the dealer and we did a FL RICO prosecution on the owner and management team involved. We got asset forfeiture and jail for all involved.
This comment made me want to get an inspection on a 700 mile dealer demo car I was thinking of buying 😂
@@davewilson7602You should anyway!
ALWAYS get an inspection! You are spending thousands of dollars, what is another couple hundred to make sure you have a good investment?
I've worked at many dealers and found brand new vehicles come off the truck damaged, the vehicle sent to the body shop for repairs, and sold as nothing ever happened. They would be smoked in. One alcoholic owner would demo the highest trim level models, run them into ditches and freeway grass center medians, damaging the undercarriage, lower fenders, bumper, wheels, etcetera, only to have it fixed at his body shop. They would recondition the car, sell as a new dealer demo, and there was nothing in its history. It is standard practice in the dealer world.
CARFAX and the other title monitoring companies only know what is told to them. There are plenty of damaged cars that have been repaired with owners none the wiser. I take those reports with a grain of salt. There can be mistakes that then brand the vehicle when it shouldn't have been branded as well. My 4Runner has a mileage brand because the previous owner guessed the mileage when reporting to the DMV. All records show mileage increasing normally. I don't care, but it now carries the brand. You own judgement and inspections are best.
Well done!!!!!!
If that engine and box was any further back it would have given the driver a lap dance 😂😂😂
To be fair this HRV was a pole dancer briefly.
@@vehcorLooks like the pole won.
@@moehoward01 Pole always wins!
@@vehcor boom, zing.
Oak tree you're in my way..
As long as the tires are shiny, there can be no risk.
Whiskey bottles and brand new cars
Oak tree, you're in my way
ohhh that smell🙂
Judging by the rock under the front left tire supports your view that the trans has been damaged. Shows neutral on the dash so can't get it into park. Nice job evaluating this vehicle.
That’s just the parking rock, a rare option on these. 😂
@@vehcor But, is that a factory parking rock, or a Dorman?
@vehcor you should do a series on rental car companies selling wrecked cars with clean titles. Since they are self insured, those cars get to keep their titles clean
It almost looks like the front wheels are farther back. They aren't centered in the wheel arch.
Was thinking the same thing.
That is why I say the frame rails are collapsed under the firewall.
Amazing that a car that has clearly been destroyed, still has a clean title, the scammer in this case are whoever's responsible for reporting theses accidents... The doctor's actually left it pretty evident that it's not fixed or probably even fixable.
This car unfortunately had a short life but might be good as a parts source that's about it.
Anything is fixable if you have unlimited funds this would be a endless money pit to the point its a parts car at best.
I want to thank you for letting people see what scammers are out there.
Don't kidd yourself people they are everywere!
at least this car is obvious
People don’t know that big rental car companies are self insured.
...along with city/state/federal government vehicles
If they won't provide a maintenance / repair log walk away.
They should have put a grille on it to hide the engine damage
Probably not available, this is 2023 and up so many parts are on back order. I agree with you though!
This series has been a great education of the risk associated with the auction gaming.
I give you a lot of credit for calling these guys out time and time again. I can't understand how they can sleep at night. I'll guarantee you that you are educating lots of people here! And I'm one of them. Keep em coming! Thanks Scott!
I think you nailed it. A good parts donor car. Some poor guy is going to buy a whole lot more than he bargained for.
CarMax will sell you shit like this. Sold me a car that was "certified" by CarMax, told me it was checked and cleaned throughly to make sure its in excellent condition and ready to drive. They towed that shit from my residence first month I drove it out the lot to fix it at the shop. $35,000 after financing for a 2015 Accord is insane. The dealer said it's only $20,000 lol. The 7% APR he showed me turned out to be closer to 20%. The fault is on me though, for trusting anyone at a car dealership even if they barely receive commissions for lying to people like 3rd party sellers do. SMH
Or the other option turn it into a mini caravan for 2
@@J35Y1carmax does have a good refund policy at least, so if they sell you a turd, you have time to return it before you’re stuck with it. But it’s a lot better to do the inspection before you buy!
Someone watches South Main Auto Channel -- Enhance. Enhance. Enhance. Great work and informative as usual.
No, someone saw Super Troopers!
It's amazing to me that a car history still doesn't always show accidents.
Some of the larger rental companies self insure.
They omit more than they provide but their marketing would have you believe they are perfect.
I think it’s just random. About ten years ago my car got rear ended, I went thru my insurance to get it fixed (nothing sketchy), repair was about $4000. Five years later when I was selling it, I got the Carfax and there was no mention of the accident or repair.
Both my Yukon and my old Toyota truck have clean titles but were totaled by me getting hit by negligent drivers. I’ve fixed both and drive the Yukon daily.
That subtle parking-brake rock under the front wheel 😂
“Fleet/Lease” cars at the auctions are not actually rentals. They are leased by employees of the auto manufacturer. They usually end up at the auction if they get wrecked badly. Since the auto manufacturers are self-insured, they often won’t get totaled and receive a salvage title. Just auctioned “as-is” no arbitration. Great videos.
Also, Honda doesn't sell to rental companies.
You are on a serious roll cranking out these videos!!
This video enforces the fact that you can't simply rely on a used car report to get a true picture - you have to do your due diligence, and if you aren't knowledgeable or comfortable doing a thorough inspection, pay someone to do one for you (and NOT the place selling it). I just had an associate all hyped up because the car he was looking at had clear title and carfax was clean - until he took it down the road to a mechanic and found all sorts of stuff wrong with it - thankfully before he signed the dotted line. He almost bit the bullet but several of us prevailed and got him to check it out!
That engine is toast too
Yes
Love this series. Please keep it going!!
Thanks for doing what you do Scott! For calling it for what it is! If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it ain't a friggin' goose! Keep 'em coming! 😊
I really enjoy this series of videos. Thanks for all the information.
Really enjoying this format of video. Thanks for the effort.
Love this channel for exposing these scammers. Bravo
Subscribed for life. Love your masterclass on rebuilding and your masterclass on scammers
Thank you for taking your time to put these videos out. It's scary what some people are willing to do for money.
Don’t understand why folks selling these cars can’t be prosecuted for fraud. Tks for the education.
You're doing a great job!! I love you exposing those jerks.
Interesting video. I've been watching for a while now and I love the mix of auction and rebuild videos with a seasoning of your dry humor. Looking forward to more content!
Happy Wednesday, Scott! Keep these coming, man! They've been awesome! Don't forget the build videos, too!🍻
I love this series of videos. These are very entertaining and informative. You just never know what some of those vehicles may be hiding. Appreciate you, Scott!
Looking forward to a shop update after your Instagram post the other day. Hope things work out for you and enjoy all your content!
Exactly, Scott. You and Mr. Spotty is right again. Thanks for making those videos.
Thank You once again for sharing the info with us.
Great video as always, just keep doing what your doing.👍👍👍😎😎😎
Great video, I love seeing stuff like this getting shown. Where do you normally go to search the VIN for previous pictures? Are you just putting the VIN in google and see what comes up?
My buddy bought a Porsche and had a little damage , when he got it home someone had taken the good motor out and put a locked up engine in its place. Love to get my hands on one of these guys
Well done scott for doing your best to warn people about buying cars there are so many out there who are out of pocket because of unscrupulous sellers
Again amazing video, you have an amazing eye for this
I'm impressed at the fender to door gaps, given how hard it was hit dead center.
Your certainly opening my eyes as to just how as you say clear tittle isnt as what they say , best treat every car as dodgy unless you can hands on see it ; great video keep this series running
Hello buddy ! Always good to see you . Thanks for sharing your expertise .
My pleasure
You are awesome. Thank you for taking the time to post videos. Best of luck !
Another wreck that should be parted out. Keep up the great detective work Scott🙂
Yeah… I found out about the unreliability of carfax thanks to my own car and dealer paid reports.
It’s been in 5 accidents over the last 15 years. Curbed it the first winter, needed the subframe replaced. Some joker did a hit and run for a mirror a few years later, and the last 3 were low speed some schmuck who couldn’t brake behind me in stop and go traffic.
0 accidents reported. I did claim the curbing and subframe, as well as the mirror under insurance, and it was the dealership that did the work. 🤷🏻♂️
These videos are great. I'm new to the channel, but speaking of titles: Recently had a tree fall on the cab of my 7.3l truck, totaling it. Given the vehicle age and the fact I'll be keeping it, resale on this one is not an issue so I wanted to use it as a learning experience. Rabbit hole ensued, beginning with the BMV on title process, then speaking with insurance companies about options for coverage depending on how the rebuild was approached. 2 months of putting together pieces of info led to applying for an MVIN (Indiana). Turn in the title for both the damaged vehicle and parts truck after swapping the cab, then you are issued a new vin that is similar to a trailer or kit car. Problem: If you did want to sell the vehicle, not having a 17 digit vin now eliminated the ability for full coverage and banks have no valuation for lending. The real problem is getting an answer from anyone about the legality of taking off the original vin tag and moving it over to the replacement cab. According to the MVIN application, any defaced, altered, or missing vin tag results in an MVIN being required. How do you handle these situations?
In the "fixed" pictures, the front tires are pushed back and the bottoms are pulled towards the middle. The rail near the drivers hood hinge is bent too. Thanks for your videos Scott.
Loved how they tried to hide the Rock Handbrake in both sets of photos
I would never have thought some one would buy a wrecked car make it look less wrecked to get over on people the thing I have learned the most is not buy a 3 rd party car
Cleetus McFarland has a video called "we tried to buy an auction jeep trackhawk" where he went in person and found out it was horribly doctored. He also got burnt on Ruby the 06 Corvette w/a 5.3, and a misrepresented Porsche that the auction site bought back.
Ruby is how I found him. I have been following since but the FF really made me a fan.
@@vehcor it's a great channel for sure, your channel is as well! I'd love to see you check out a doctored up car in person, maybe the next time you're picking up an honest wreck from the auction. Thanks for doing these videos, scammers need to be exposed.
I’m loving this new series
I really enjoy this type of content
Scotts honda Emporium doesnt have enough parts to fix that Not so hot mess. I'm a new Subscriber and these videos are something i watch all the time and enjoy for sure. Keep those vids coming please. Catch you new time.
Oh I was wondering when the Miami guys were going to show back up.
One click on the next auction and I had my pick. 😂
Nice job as always
Hi Scott Mark here from the Bahamas I have so many folks here get scammed it’s sad so I have been spreading your videos around also I was wondering how and where do I go to check the vehicle original sale.
I hope the driver is alright, that was a hard hit. The steering wheel was even bent.
In the current auction pics, I was going to guess "Fire Hydrant". But, after seeing the crease going all the way up the hood in the "before" pics, concrete pillar
another great video keep up the good work, need to pick on fords again
Love your scammer vehicle videos. Please keep them coming. Alan, England
Parking rock engaged thanks for sharing this one
Way more reliable than those fancy electronic parking brakes. 😂
Interesting video! Enjoyed
Rule of thumb! Never ever do Business with anyone in Miami.
I'm really enjoying these.
Seen a few of these and the block mounts for alternator broken off. Always hard to see, but the block is toast most of the time.
It looks to be worth about 500 bucks for parts. Thanks for sharing these crazy deals.....
Never buy an auction car that you didn't check over in person. I like the rock under the from wheel parking brake. This is a parts car. Not a rebuilder.
I like the paint color and door mirror shapes and glove box. You can have the rest. 😀
The more I watch your vids - the more I don't want to try and buy IAA or Co-P. Thx for the update and sharing your videos.
Those are the builders that give good shops a bad name. Scammers is a nice way a putting it.
I'll go by your judgment any day of the week .
Thanks, Scott!
I remember that I wrecked a brand-new rental car once in Illinois. It had similar damage and to make things worse it was in a parking garage, so the tow truck could not pull the car out. It was a total loss, luckily we had good insurance, and I got a different vehicle that evening. I tried to avoid a person running across the parking lot, and those concrete beams do not really give....
Similar damage? How fast were you driving in a parking garage?
@@wilkesjournal I think I was going about 15-20 miles, we had 4 people in the car, and it hit exactly on the corner of a square pillar.
My Guess is the Fire Wall may have moved back, That is why turn signal lever is so close to the steering wheel, or you were right and the driver did not have a seatbelt on and ate the steering colum and Under the Cat, Looked like a spot of oil on the ground, Broken Block
7:05 the glow of the reddish bio hazard stickers through the windshield and looks like the screen is broken on the corner or something i dont want to think of is wedged into the corner of the screen...
Good job Scott
Thanks
At minimum, isn't there a legal requirement to disclose airbag deployment? If not, there certainly should be.
The front wheels are back 2-3 inches, so sub frame is pushed back.
Im gona Buy it Dey Put da Tire Shinez on da tires. Its a good car then right?
I am reminded of the opening verse of “That Smell” by Lynyrd Skynyrd about whiskey, brand new cars & an oak tree.
No powertrain warranty… somehow the problem isn’t related to materials & workmanship.
Parts car … not so sure I’d risk using any critical part forward of the rear seat …
I like how they put tire dressing on the sidewalls......
Pay no attention to the front of the car, look at how nice the wheels shine !🤣
Scott, love your videos! Do you offer consultations? I bought a vehicle with hidden damage at auction, trying to figure out the best way to proceed. Thanks!
In light of recent events, I think I might be able to try it out. Send me an email with the details or contact me though my website in the description.
@@vehcor awesome, thanks!
Thanks for exposing these people
These guys spent some money on this one, that hood and fenders along with the bumper and cover were some money alone, if this sold for a low enough price it would make some good parts.
Thank You
I like to note the cars stance and if the wheels are center of the fenders
I love the rock under the front tire to keep it from rolling away 😂😂😂😂😂
The parking rock? That is a feature, not a flaw! 😂
Honda Pole grabber edition . i agree with you --great parts car.
This one did more than grab the pole. 😂
Man you on point 😎👍🏾
Love the doctor series
Prolly hit a guard rail or a light pole or a the alignment of a wall barrier going highway speeds. I personally wouldn’t take the risk based on the damage done you probably got a bad trans & engine plus who knows what else needs repairing & those are costly on a new vehicle .
Also @7:51 Front wheels pointing different directions
had a friend look it has a broken trans
Not surprised, it looks to be at an angle to the engine. Probably cracked around the bell housing.
6:13 "JUST PRINT THE DAMM THING"
Finally someone that got the reference! 👍🏻
I wouldn't bother since its 2wd. They would have a little more successful if they waited on the backordered grille and pass moulding. I do like the wheels, they would look sharp on my blue Accord coupe.
So do rentals not file insurance claims or is there another way it has a clean title
Thank you this is a public service weather you think so or not
Awesome videos
