- I found this 2023 Toyota Highlander Limited in the auction so let's have a closer look at it. It appears the body guy was out sick and a drywaller filler in for him on this rebuild. I also have an auction update on the Civic sport and we can watch this one go through the auction. 5TDKDRAH9PS000883

I don't know why your subscriber numbers are not exploding with these videos. I have learned soooo much in the last two weeks about what not to buy. This one today I would have gone after it if I had been in the market because it looked so neat plus I need some drywall screws but boy are looks deceiving. The Honda Civic looked bad but when you showed the after crash imaged I blurted out a familiar profanity at the extra damage the vehicle had. Now I shall *never* even consider purchasing a damaged vehicle with the aim of fixing it up and I shall be forever grateful for the free education I have received from you Scott. You sir have save me a shit ton of money and I can't thank you enough. 👍👍
He is the best kept secret on CZcams.
I think these uploads are great. They help to point out how cars are doctored up and could save someone making a very expensive mistake
I have zero interest in bodywork repairs, but I really enjoy your channel, especially when you annoy the youtube experts!
I completely agree with you. The insurance company paid the bodyshop to take that apart to evaluate whether or not the rails were bad (to decide whether it really was a total). What these people did was try to sucker someone into thinking there was nothing wrong underneath. It was the underneath which totaled it and these people covered it back up to sucker someone.
I'm patiently waiting for your shop and rebuilds update. Hopefully whatever the issue is, you get it sorted out and you can get back to the rebuilds.
Some changes will be made, not sure what just yet.
I absolutely love these daily videos, thanks so much! The dry wit and sarcasm EVERY DAY😊
@BrusePierson Google: Reed's Automotive Enterprises fire. You're Welcome...
@@vehcor I sure hope one change is a cover on that drain grate on your shop floor. I'd like to know the nut, bolt, and screw count that has entered that portal to Narnia.
I think he was sued by the sea turtles Union 😂😂😂
Hmmmmmmm Miami, Hollywood FL and Denver……it’s interesting to see these people competing to buy the same cars. Kind of makes you think they are one and the same bidding to drive up the price….😂😂😂😂
damn fine work on these videos! You're pretty much a detective at this point !
Love it when a seller bids up their own junk, buyer beware always.thanks John from Arizona
These vids are like an old lady going to a bad plastic surgeon 🤣
This is a great series, apart from the aforementioned enemy making, which you are cool with, this is both entertaining and I hope very profitable. It also comes as a by product of your actual work. I do the same but with motorcycles, and when you do something you love, you do it all the time. You are inspiring me to do something similar here in europe, trying to educate the people so they aren't always being ripped off. Respect, my friend, you are doing an awesome job. I loved your repair video's because you did things right. I love these for the same reason.
My car had to go through a salvage inspection I had mounted foglights with rivnuts into the bumper bar but didn't have any nyloc nuts, the shop doing the inspection 'fixed' it with drywall screws and charged me $125 for parts and labour
Thanks for making these videos and spreading awareness about these kinds of scams. Hopefully this will decrease the problem, Because if dishonest mechanics buy and fix these cars improperly and cheaply, and put them back on the road, it could cause lots of problems for the new owners
Why not duct tape instead of drywall screws? If it is good enough for the wing of an Indy car why not for an auction car? The car is silver it might look less obvious.
They had the drywall guy fixing this one. The HVAC guy was working on a different vehicle. 😂
Tape cost more money
If it’s good enough for an Indy car then it’s too expensive for the guy who butchered this
Duct tape is also good for aircraft
Do you seriously want to stake your personal safety on DUCT TAPE in a crash? Be my guest. Not me, thank you.
Scott luv the fresh kills please post some more
Love your work Scott . I would actually love to see this one repaired by you.
This just shows that the auction companies are just as slimy as the scammers. They could pay someone to catch auction cheats but that would mean the auction makes less commission.
Thanks Scott , I'm really enjoying these videos! 👍
Enjoying these videos.
i like the accident reconstruction part to explain the damage.
Thanks again for these videos, Scott. And thanks for returning the outro music.
Thanks for the video Scott.
Ah, #6 black oxide wood screws. Our good, good friend.
another great video love how you point out the doctored up vehicles thanks for showing us the videos and what some people will do to try and make some extra money 👍
The drywall screws at an indication of serious damage. We'll see just how bad the damage is soon.
I guess if it holds the bumper, it’s the right fastener. 😂
I really like these videos. Great info.
Great series of videos on this subject. People need to be educated about this kind of stuff going on at auctions. Drywall screws, unreal.
This is great another professional video .
One of the best channels on youtube! Really want to buy an action car to fix mine so now I know what to look for to get a deal ;)
Oh look a Toyota Highlander with the Drywall package.
Excellent diagnosis as always
Thanks
Love the pivot while you are getting the regular rebuild stuff figured out. I will be excited when you are hopefully able to upload the rebuilds again.
I love these videos!
Got to love having friends in other states. Even Manheim does it. Bought and sold more cars by just talking to the buyers or sellers before the auction even started. Didn’t have to worry about the vehicles being messed with or missing parts.
I'm kinda liking these videos, but I can't wait to see more rebuilds!
I don't mean to pick on the drywaller but I think he should've smoothed over those screws with some joint compound. Assuming he plans to wallpaper over the front end, it could look pretty nice once it's done.
I just don't see the haters going big on this series of videos, but hey ya never know...lol.
One thing these vids really lack, waiting for the shop, is the man screams while backing off a trailer.
4:45 drywaller used the battery as scaffolding. Foot print lol 11:18 different battery before being used as scaffolding
This is good journalism 👍
I think it's safe to say that any of the vehicles that are less than 3 years old all have airbags deployed and far more hidden damage than what they are trying to let us see. Insurance companies won't pay for a rental for more than a few days without screaming, so you can pretty much be assured that these rigs aren't going to be a 7 day fix! Please, Scott - keep them coming!!
Well, then they should have hired finishers. These guys down here are some of the best at taping and mudding joints. They could have finished it like it never happened.
Love these..
Top man.....respect from the uk....
its the same here...........
awsome is it not when all airbags and seat belts go off and there are no passengers in the car...
manufactures dont want em rebuilt.. they just want to sell you another new one...
N x
Keep the videos coming
Kool video. Here for the long haul. Will be interesting to see the changes. Best of luck on getting things ironed out. Don't forget the drywall screws, they'll help keep things in place. 🔧🪛🔧
I think you may be beating this subject to death.
These sellers remind me of the early days of eBay where people would have multiple accounts or their friends bidding up their unsavory merch. Thanks for exposing this stuff Scott.
It does look like a good one for you to fix. It would be a big job but at least it's all in one area and the rest of the vehicle looks like it's in great shape.
I ordered some ebay special tail lights for my chevy truck...$40 a pair. I also have some oem ones coming....should be interesting to compare
Are the drywall screws OEM or aftermarket?
...thought you were being sarcastic about drywall screws..until i saw this vid...🤣😂😁
I have never been to an auction site, so I would like to know if everybody can see the first auction pics before these clowns get their hands on them. I do appreciate the time you put into these videos.
This Gem comes with a bonus 5 gallon pail of Spackle to go with the drywall screws! Oy Vay!
Copart needs to put a stop to this
What about doing an on-site visit of the cars? They are enjoyable to watch.
Looks like the windshield also got a resin injection to hide most of the cracking... or maybe was just that the lighting was different. Not sure
I can't believe they turned down over 10K on the first round. Thant would have been a great flip in my book.
Arrogance of these so called auto doctors
The pic of the back bumper where the scuff was I thought was a reflection of a guys shoe 😂
Ibthinknthe angled front grille restyling is a huge improvement to the big bug mouth ToyoLexus style language.
I used to have a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe that I bought in April of '09 and it was produced on Christmas day of '08. lol
Tales from the Bondo-Bandit
I'm learning that I should buy rental car coverage on my auto insurance if I want my cars to be totaled by insurance while used cars are way overpriced. It doesn't take as much damage to total these days and that rental car coverage while waiting for parts can take it over the edge.
How much more does rental car coverage add to insurance premiums?
Hope you start doing rebuilds again soon.
Copart fees are through the roof. A private buyer will end up paying around 21k after fees and tax.
Nice didn't know these could be had with a digital dash
just needs some silver paint on the drywall screws and we should be good to go here!
Nobody can see the Liquid Nail!😂
What are your thoughts on I-Car Gold Class collision repair centers and body shops?
I only buy by auction cars based on gas tank fill level. Full tank def bid on it.
The important question is were they coarse or fine thread.
Hi Scott, years ago I used to do lots of rebuilding wrecks,I loved the work. So before the auction started I and many other bidders would be all over and under the cars getting to know what we'd be buying. Doesn't any one do that anymore? I'd never buy anything from a picture, crazy!
I see palm trees!
Buy it and have a Highschool shop class do the work for free....it would be a win win for everyone
Too bad the drywall screws weren't symmetrical... Enjoying these videos, kinda miss the rebuilds, but these are informative. I guess I missed the 65/15 Mustang outcome... :(
Nice shoe print on the battery lol
Everything is a ladder to short people. Trust me, I know! 😂
That battery, does it have a boot print on it?
I always think of Scott when I am covering a crash and watching firemen shovel the front end into the backseat! I am sure this scam is nation if not worldwide. Makes me want to take out stock in a drywall screw company!
So drywall screws and random trim parts missing. I’ll add them to my red flag list.
Interesting.
Don't knock drywall screws! They rate third behind duct tape and baling wire! I alway have a few in my pocket when working around the house
cool to see these scammers exposed.
I think they'll be back!
So is the Toyota one you would repair for a cheaper price? Enjoying the videos and hopingr you are able to get back to normal soon! Thx
A drywaller made the Tesla Cybertruck!
No radiator support? I'd like to see whats holding that stuff together ! Probably why they took a close shot of the engine bay.
I'm guessing broom handle and zip ties.
Tell me Vehcor and the boss dog aren't retiring..
I guess the last owner said screw this car.
Are those drywall screws for steel or wood? They forgotted to put "do not remove" stickers as those screws are load bearing.
Plastic apparently. 😂
Good morning, what happened to the black Mustang GT
would this be easier to fix with a cowl cut? or does the VIN become a problem along with splicing the floor and A pillars?
of course finding that cut would likely be difficult as well.
Cuts are easy to find, violating proper repair procedures, I have a problem with. Not to mention to is easier to put the rails in complete.
With the bent frame rails - and probably the powertrain - it's probably a good guess that the engine mounts are busted.
Was that a footprint on top of the battery?
Custom work
Drywalls are the best repair screws but not for vehicles. Just unreal 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
Maybe now's a good time to resurrect the Mustang rebody project!
These videos are an eye opener to what lengths some people go to, to deceive others. While your between jobs in the shop, could you not work on the Fix Or Repair Daily that’s named after a horse? I didn’t name it so it complies with your rules of not mentioning it. 😂😂
Was during the Xmas season reason for the lights
😂
Happy Thursday, Scott!🍻 Am I understanding you correctly that you currently don't have a shop right now?
I never had a shop. It wasn’t for lack of trying.
....please insert drywall screws here...here and under here. Smile at the camera while inserting drywall screws. LoL
кот в мешке. спасибо за видео
If you're going to use drywall screws, why not add some plaster and paint to really spruce it up?
