Another doctored up Acura RDX is up for auction. What are they hiding?

- Day four of scam week provides us with a doctored-up Acura RDX Aspec AWD. They seem to be a fan of these RDXs, who can blame them. I only wish they would repair them the right way. Let's see what they did to this one. It does seem they put in more effort than usual on this one. 5J8TC2H66ML043725

Scam Week - one of my new favorite YT series.
I’ll have to do it again, I thought it was fun to make. Certainly easier than editing rebuild videos.
This guy is just assuming nothing was fixed.
It would be interesting if you get the chance to buy it for the right price and we can see it fixed properly.
And see all what the sellers hid (ie, what they didn't fix, like the ebay lights, suspension, airbags etc, etc.)
I might be, with the worst of the bunch… the Jag. Nobody wants it! 😂
@@vehcordo a merch sell to raise funds to buy a junker. Then your not sinking your money into it as you do this to make money nor videos.
@@vehcorDefinitely a good watch 😎
He did do that once before a couple of years ago, look up "2015 Chevrolet silverado 2500hd ltz aka the mistake" where he bought it, knowing it was a doctored up. It's a whole rebuild series.
Scott that was my RDX Acura . I hit the back of a semi . How odd it is that it ended up at one of your auction .
Small world! I hope you fared well!
Glad you're safe!
wow. i was going to say that it looked like it got launched off of a 100 foot ramp into a brick wall. my dad has one of these, a 2020 advance w/ tech. he is 74 and does a lot of driving himself as my mother recently passed away. never had to test the safety but from what i have seen, they hold up fairly well.
How were you able to tell?
@@PayNoTax-GetNoVoteI would assume the VIN
Scam week is pretty entertaining!! Thanks Man!
Any time!
Greatly appreciated all your time you spend making these videos.
Glad you like them!
It’s so interesting to see the behind the scenes of these scammers. Thanks for taking the time to show us.
I love the Scam Week videos. I can say (from experience) that the ACE body structure in those Hondas are second to none. They do an amazing job of protecting you in wrecks. Looking forward to seeing more repairs, yes even on the Grand Am's too :-)
I would take a Honda over any American car brand these days. No complaints on the newer Hondas.
The interior in that car reminded me of Dead Pools costume......🤔
I actually like the sport red interiors. It took some getting used to on the blue exterior but fits right in with white.
Hey greatly appreciated your time when you making this video😊
Love how you never stop posting!
🥉👍🏻
Would love to see this car on your channel! Think it would be great content, showing how your favorite people stage a car for reselling. Then fixing it up right!
I’m trying but no luck so far.
Really digging your videos, keep it real!
I appreciate that!
2019 RDX is a different shade of white than the 2020 and later RDX. 2019: White Diamond Pearl 2020 and later: Platinum White Pearl
Lots of little differences between trim levels if parts were pulled from salvage vehicles of different trims. (like ceiling and trims and dash accents in different colors)
Maybe like 75% less to get junkyard panels, or aftermarket. SO what if the paint does not match.
It does not mean the sellers are trying to scam anyone.
Thx for doing this, filming it and sharing it with us
I love watching these, and it's fun to watch along and think to myself - oh - the hood gap is wrong on that side, etc, and then have Scott make the same remarks and explain even further about it.
This one would be a good one to dissect and reveal what was really done.
I tried!
I love this series, great job!
It would be very educational (to say nothing of entertaining) to see you buy one of these fluffed up flips and fix it the right way. Of course often they seem to damage them worse in the fluffing process from memory. Great vid as always!
I love what you’re doing with this weeks videos!
Glad you like them!
It's been a great week of videos. TY.
Thanks for the support!
Thank you for the video's I enjoyed all of them
Really enjoying these. Very cool to see
Glad to hear!
you're doing great work and you're got a great eye for detail !
Love these series! Please keep exposing these scams! Would be cool if you could go look at one of these in person
What a great series lol. Can never run out of content doing this
I wish I had enough of an impact that I could run out of content!
I am really liking your videos my man. Please keep them up and you're doing a great job in your presentation too!
I am absolutely loving this series
Thanks
I appreciate you doing this. I like your honda and acura builds probably because I work there, and I like to see them fixed and back on the road done right off course. Scammers ughh
Honda and Toyota are all I recommend to my customers. American cars have gotten so bad and European cars have always been bad. 😂
I would be willing to bet that nothing under the fenders & hood was straightened. Judging by the rear gate it looks twisted from front to rear. This has been interesting to watch this week. I know it is a lot of work doing videos but doing a week once in awhile might be a nice addition to your channel.
lmao twisted front to rear my ass
Love the Ambient temp tip...
we get the same hidden things with cars here in the uk.....
The number of Airbags ..seatbelts blown should be on any kind of listing... that should be a law anywere...
Its what totals most vehicles...
but most bags blow for no reason what so ever even if there are no passengers in the car.....
great sandwich length vid..
N x
Keep em coming Scott. You are a real hero
Thanks!
Thanks for all the great videos
You bet
This scam series is nice.. keep them coming which informs the rest of us as to what to look for in the auctions and pictures.
Hey Scott! Keep them coming!!
Show them who's boss!! 🤭
I will, for at least one more day! 🥈
Looking forward to each day of these.
👍🏻
Great info 👍
good on you for letting people know of these scams.
I hope you do get that, just to see what they actually do to doctor the vehicle up. I bet you would get a few laughs\face palms out of it. I also like the fact that you do give them the benefit of doubt on some things.
Thanks Again for #4.
I like the doctored picture first then the before picture
Those seats are really attractive. However, they look out of place in that interior as I didn't see anything that matched or set them off.
I like the scam videos ,I have learned a lot of how it’s done.. more of these would be cool if you can do more. I look forward to your Friday upload..
Thanks
@vechor very educational!
Thanks
The point of the hood is literally at least an inch over from the centre of the Acura emblem. The entire front is and you can see it from a mile away by just looking at the lights.
So you're not the only one that doesn't clean 😂. Hopefully Pizza Lady will ACTUALLY deliver tomorrow, since you're doing what you can to help others.
Nope, maybe I am related to these guys?!? 😳😂
I can’t wait for the next video.
It's a shame people only scam one week out of the year. Would have liked to see videos like this more often.
The scammers never sleep! I just don’t have the same work ethic. 😂
i like these show keep them coming
Will do!
Great series. Thanks for answering my question right at the end would you fix it. Thx for sharing
I would bid on it for parts value but if it made sense, I would not be opposed to repairing it.
I kinda hope you do end up getting it, just so you can show just how bad they doctor theses cars up, it really doesn't look bad, but when you look at the first time around, it's very messed up. I'm guessing their is alot of hidden damage that's just covered up with decent panels, the structure is probably all messed up.
Hope you get this car. Would like to see your final analysis of damage. 👍👍👍
interesting. i will stay tuned!
👍🏻
This scammers are trickey. Because the Acura didn't even look to close to that bad in the after pics vs the before pics.
Great video, people get killed in those cars ✌️
Loving this series. It’s crazy these guys put so much effort into hiding damage. Seems like they could make more money doing something else. The scammers have done one thing right though. Selling you the mistake truck which is how I found your channel in the first place. Keep up the good work.
The mistake truck was where I learned just how far these people will go. I did as much work as they did on that one and made decent money. They lost, those were not pros like these, they just made a bad buy and tried to pass it along.
I love this!
Thanks
If you bought it and repaired it, that would make for an epic "somebody's been here before" series 😊
Man you’re good bro
This one looks promising Scott! If you can snag it for the right price I’d love to see you go through it! You could do a “do this, don’t do that!” with it! I’m partly curious and partly afraid to remove the skins and see how bad it really is inside the structure!
I want to see what hides beneath the surface!
In Australia the roads department and insurance have the VIN permanent removed so the car can never be put back on the road...if its an insurance write off !!!
Look at the height difference between the passenger and driver strut towers. Looks like half an inch to an inch difference, no wonder they had to hammer the hood latch so far over.
I would want the car as it was after the accident not after someone else “fixed” and re auctioned it. Because I would redo everything they did to be sure it was done proper. Also, with the front shifted and suspension damage it would take a lot of work to make it ride straight again.
Well if your latest builds are anything to go by im sure you got your eyes on the RDX i wouldl ove to see how bent the rail and rediator support are but you are goig to need airbage and roof liner
That would be awesome than you can really show how they Dr them up
Judging by the ice on the inside of the windshield I bet it was parked in the rain with the sunroof and windows open in a rain storm.
Probably, they don’t tape them up at the auction until after they take the pics. So it sat at the tow yard for a few days at least with the windows down.
Hello SCOTTIE !
that car is jacked up
Is there a chance they put it back together and didn't put some or any of the airbags in? I didn't see the indicator on in the photo, and wonder if that wasnt in frame or if they were able to fake the airbag module somehow
I’m going guess you get that suv and we see it get to look new again.
Interesting..... To say the least🤗😎🤗😎
So spoiled having so many new videos
Auto week should have a segment on your finds
🥇👍🏻
You should “doctor up” a wreck and re run it. It would be a good video
Turro a 2024 loved the car except for the scribble pad and the gps sucks
Scott - Did you notice the sunroof? I bet the bags broken the tracks and it's just sitting in the hole.
The bags don’t typically brake these tracks, I’m thinking it was open at the time of the accident and the tow truck driver never closed it.
I'm looking for a car in the next few months and saw a listing for one I like with good mileage and good price. Problem was its quite a way off and the photos weren't the best. It's from a dealer who offered to ship it closer so I asked for a video first. On seeing the video I lost all interest due to terrible gaps and multiple different shades of colour. Now I ununderstand why it was "reasonable price" 😂😂
When you're talking about costs, I assume you're referring to your costs to do this? Like potentially what you'd have in it, considering your time, and having the facilities, tools, and personnel to get it done. If thats the case, it would be interesting to know what you think someone paying a shop to do it would cost.
Damn...late to the party! Happy Thursday, Scott!🍻
I’m late as well so I’ll let it slide! 😂
Looks pretty good if it drives straight like this i would be fine with it for daily driver. If its cheap
It will need some work before it drives at all. 😂
Not actual miles on the vehicle description. That's going to affect resale value unless you can get it corrected. And with Copart, once you pay them, they won't lift a finger to help you out. Just went through this on a 19 Honda repo branded not actual on the title. Didn't even bother to contact the auction for help in fixing it. It was due to a clerical error, but after 2 months of title searches, phone calls and emails with the BMW in Indiana, they issued a clean new title.
I just avoid them, not worth the hassle. Most auction cars with NAM are because someone never bothered to light up the dash or wrote the numbers down wrong. Simple mistakes that turn into a huge headache.
Does that right fender look darker than the passenger side doors? May be an illusion, though.
I was particularly interested by the condition of the car under the hood. The engine cover seemed to be quite dirty and possibly very oily for such low mileage. I was thinking this might suggest the engine was run with a massive oil leak, which in turn may mean it was run without enough oil or none at all. Did you see the same?
They get full of dust at the auction and some people just don’t clean things. 😂
How did the windshield withstand the airbag deployment? Is that common?
90% of passenger airbags don’t destroy the windshield. The early cars did but they figured out flying glass might not be the best for safety and have since redesigned most newer systems.
I wouldn’t touch it. What else have they hidden on it?
Not my first rodeo.. To anyone tempted to fast forward a single second. Don't. Scott's roladex of unmatched knowledge is pure gold. Every word he mumbles, you can learn from.. Ohh and BTW,, Scott, if you wanna see a company that you literally,,,,, wiil not believe what you see.. Marlboro NY.... Those scumbage will clear a pile of poop and try to pass it on!!!
Do I really mumble that much? 😂 I know I do, I am not a good speaker. Thanks for the support!
Was the sunroof panel displaced by multiple airbags? It looks bucked up in original photos.
The windows are also down. Likely they were all open at the time of the accident and no one closed them.
You using a VPN to look at these auctions? Whoever optioned this car did a nice job.
I loved it when customers would bring them buggered piles of shit into the dealer with 3 pounds of bondo. Just because it's still under warranty dont mean we fixing the car u got sucked into buying at a used car lot for free !!!
Anything with a salvage title voids the warranty. They are still responsible for recalls but that is it.
@vehcor alot times they were wrecked rental cars. Rental car Co. In Florida sell them with clean titles. Those are the one's rebuilders look for. They patch they up as cheap as possible and sell them at regular auto Auctions. They end up in used car lots.
I like this series, but you will make enemies. Good man.
I enjoy making enemies so it works out for everyone! 😂
So far no cease and desist letter in your mailbox.
No! 😞
It would be cool if one of these had come through my shop. I think everyone would be surprised at how much it costs to fix this stuff by the book. This car would have probably had a $40k sheet. I don’t remember if the RDX has cast towers, you can’t pull much on the ones that do.
The towers are not cast but they are ridiculous to replace. $40k probably isn’t an overestimate for insurance and we all know there will be a supplement on a job like this!
@@vehcor
Have you pulled on a car with cast towers? I’m curious how much movement they will take. We have replaced a few, but have never had to pull more than a couple mm.
Now... I can't till Friday for another reason.
The supervisor finds a vehicle where the scammer used pancake mix for body filler. Supervisor: "I just love these things. Crunchy outside with a chewy center."
This scam series of vids are great!
Thanks!
It looks like they replaced some of the bags. Just how safe is that likely to be? I know that if I pull a bag from a wreck, it's likely a OEM bag and I'd trust it. But, are their corners to be cut on cheap, aftermarket or fake bags?
I also have an issue with aftermarket parts. This has a hood. Is it a OEM hood from a wreck? A decent aftermarket hood? Or, something made from tinfoil? In order to do it right, it should be good quality, but a way to save a few bucks is the cheap ones. And, the cheap ones won't be as strong in the next accident. So, you assume that your parts purchases have been done for you, while I question that. Would you use the el cheapo hood, or replace it with a good one?
I would say they are used bags. Given these sellers, likely stolen. 😂
They did not show it running ? could the motor have damage from the impact ?
It is possible, that fragile plastic intake is right next to the rail that is pushed over.
It would be cool to see this one on your channel if you can get it for a good price.
I’m trying, it might be the Jag, no one wants it! 😂
Easy way to tell if the windshield has been replaced is no inspection sticker. Would have been more convincing if they transferred it over.
Not every state has an inspection sticker.
Boy, this car was smacked!
I wonder how long the windows and sunroof were open.
I would guess from the accident to the doctors’ shop. 😂 The auction usually tapes them up right after the pics though.
I wonder why the interior 360 view was missing? That's a lot of bags. I bet your favorite seller watches your videos..lol.
Sometimes I wonder if the auction is complicit in helping these fools.
