Thank you for sharing the video. While you didn’t share any hard and fast rules (because there are none) what I learned is to always be open and pay attention to the tree, it’s needs and be prepared to continually adjust what you think you know.

Yes first thing what I see in Koko fu was Maple that was one of top Maples in show, hade branches opposite each other. I was like ??????😮 Can you do that ?? Now I have one maple Bloodgood that you can't do other than having branches on both sides, and it looks good.

Could you explain more about this "picture frame" effect mentioned a number of times?

These are not bonsai. I don't understand why people from the West want to do everything that exists in other cultures, but are not willing to show respect for it. Everything has to happen quickly and bonsai is a good example, which shows that everything is done to achieve the look of the originals. Live out your own culture or do it the way we do it.

Was very sad to see the previous video series about relocating was removed from your page! I watched it with my architect / sakura-loving girlfriend who was fascinated by the bid process and traditional approach. We were really looking forward to the next episode. My black pine died after it grew new shoots, don’t know why?

This helps me a lot. I saw a lot about pruning and buds, soil and feeding, wires and bending and splitting...But my biggest struggle is design. And this gave me a different approach, cheers for sharing.

What abt yr prized collection ?

This tree is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. The balance between the deadwood and the live tree as well as the movement are just unbeleivable. I totally agree that the price tag on this is on point.

You may have out done yourself with this one! UBE 2024 Spain is not to be forgotten. Can only agree: exquisite, stunningly beautiful bonsai; “…impeccably [and] meticulously…” displayed. What is the name of the tree at 10:00? ONE of my favorites. Thank you also for introducing Andre Alvarez, Mario Komsta, and Señor Luis Valleho’s collection. Happy to know there is a Japanese inspired style “…hide and reveal…” of garden just right for meandering! What an honor: 2nd only to Kazuo Yajima!! High cotton as they might say in Tennessee. What did you work on? Please know that his is the first video I’ve been able to watch and ENJOY since Eisei-en left Tennessee. Trust all are settling comfortably in Kyoto. The move was sad for me and a loss for Tennessee. Glad for UBE 2024 España; all feels better. This episode is even better at 0.75 x speed: more time to leisurely appreciate the bonsai. Thank you very much.
