He dreamt it, and made it reality.
Which means you can do it too.
      Cheers!

I've had good success with oregano oil against the apple rust fungus. I think a drop or two of dmso added to the oregano would wick the medicine farther into the fungal paths. I haven't had any recurring outbreaks on the treated junipers for 3 years.

    Excellent video, beautiful trees 😍
Here in Spain I use a 50% shade cloth for all the trees from May through Sept, any less than 50% and the trees in small pots dry out in just a couple of hours..

Best bonsai content on CZcams! I’m super excited about the blue spiral event because I only live 2 hours away from Asheville! So I only really get to see exhibitions there and then luckily, I also get to go to kannapolis for the winter silhouette shows. Other than that, I only have access to the bonsai learning center. Which is about 20 minutes from me. Can’t wait to see you and the amazing trees in Asheville! Thanks for the early summer/late spring update!

Very informative as always Bjorn, this has given me some ideas since I am currently landscaping my backyard and needed some ideas on where the gravel and shade structures should go!

First of all, I would like to say thank you very much for the many interesting and instructive videos here on tube.
As far as shading is concerned, which is not yet necessary here in Germany (currently 11 degrees celsius and cloudy), I like to rely on natural shading.
I have grown a wild wine in such a way that it shades the area of the more sensitive trees wonderfully in the hot season.
If I need more sun, I can easily cut the appropriate amount of leaves.
Another plus point, due to the wine I have a cool forest climate with higher humidity in the area.

What you've done to the juniper at the end, literally made me say 'wow'!
It would be awesome to catch that show. Then I could also visit my daughter in Charlotte.
Thank you for the update Sir Bjorn.

I will see you next weekend, it's a dream of mine to meet you and talk about my Coast Redwood development. I knew there was a reason I didn't go Asheville this weekend! I live in RDU and Bryan from Bonsai Learning Center takes care of my trees when I go out of town.

Awesome garden! How would you say the Limber pines do in the summer heat? Are you usually protecting this species as well? or not as worrisome?

I have a Tango Mandarin Orange tree in a pot. I got it from a nursery online more than 8 years ago. It has been going strong inside in the winter and outside on the balcony in the summer. I’m in Pleasant Grove, Ut. I’m moving to Oregon and I don’t think it will do ok on the OR coast where we are moving. Do you know of anyone that would like it? It’s had a rough winter here.

How much sun exposure do you give your deciduous, more specifically Japanese maples and trident maples? 2-4hr, 4-6hr, 6+hr? I understand that we are in different growing zones which is a big factor. I’m in zone 8b but am very interested in knowing how much sun exposure you give your deciduous bonsais. I try and give mine about 2-4hrs of direct morning sunlight and then dappled shade for an additional 2-4hrs then full shade the remainder of the day. I just feel as if I’m constantly doing the “bonsai shuffle” and moving my bonsai around……… my tridents seem to be more heat tolerant than most of my Japanese maples are. Also, my Katsura Japanese maple seems very sensitive while my Shishigashira Maple seems like it could take more sun then I give it. Are Shishigashiras heat tolerant similar to a Trident? Are red or green maples different as far as heat tolerance? Sorry for so many questions!! I have only been practicing bonsai for 3yrs but have inherited some specimen maple bonsais that are beyond my current skill level. I’ve asked numerous people on their opinions about sun exposure for maples and I always get an incredibly vague response. Again, I know that everyone has different zones and that your zone is hotter than mine. But if you could maybe please give a break down of how much sun exposure you give your maples (with and/or without shade cloth). I would forever be in your debt and eternally grateful. I’m scared I might ruin the specimen maple bonsai I undeservedly inherited. Please! Any and all advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your awesome videos! I’ve learned a ton! Take care and happy bonsai!!
