I visited Auschwitz a few years ago (along with Dachau), and I spent much of the time crying. I agree that it may not be a place you want to visit, but it is a place you SHOULD visit. The room where you cannot take pictures is where they have real shoes, glasses, hair, glasses, suitcases, etc. It was a truly humbling experience and I'd like to go back someday. After our group left the gas chamber, I went back in by myself for a few minutes and bawled. Poland amd Germany have many, many memorials and reminders in an attempt to avoid history repeating itself.

I have no pity for this because if the people/government of Poland had empathy for this holocaust period, they would have demolished this camp decades ago & turned this into a memorial ground, were is free to visit, to pay your respects but No! Lets just keep it open for people to remember the horrific tragedies in the camp & charge people, so they can make money off the dead, i don’t know what to say or who to believe, its a messed up world we love in🫣

I think it’s terrifying that this wasn’t even a century ago. My grandma was around 5 years old when this happened, though my family didn’t experience this because they weren’t even in the same continent when this happened. But to put it into perspective, like I said she was 5, maybe 4 years old and still alive today, almost 89. That means there are still survivors from this happening. This isn’t like the Titanic or the Civil War where pretty much everyone is dead and it’s almost ancient history now, this was RECENT

IMO, as many living human beings as possible, should spend a day walking through the buildings of Auschwitz. I did and was privileged to meet survivors who asked, "Please tell all what you've seen." I do remember the building with four walls of human hair behind glass from floor to ceiling. It was absolutely devastating to witness the lengths that pure evil went to at dehumanizing children, women, and men. Humanitarian horrors not shared are easily repeated. Auschwitz should stand forever, so we never forget the evil people in power will do.
