There is no such thing as singaporean durian. They are imported from malaysia.
If you walk into the Christ Church next to the Stadthuis at the Red Square, you can see old tombstones used as flooring. It was built by the Dutch and the tombstones belonged to Portuguese dignitaries who died there within their 130 years of rule. If you happened to visit the Dataran Pahlawan mall, part of the land where the mall stood used to be the ruins of the first western hospitals in SE Asia. They were built by the Portuguese. One was called "Hospital dos Pobres" or Paupers' Hospital for civilians and low-ranked soldiers. The other one was "Hospital de Rei" or the King's Hospital for the high-ranked Portuguese officers, as well as for Portuguese and local nobilities. They were destroyed by the Dutch in 1641 during the siege.
Wow! Thanks for the info!
The Red Square or Dutch Square was originally painted white. It was the Brits who repainted it red
Oh that's cool!
Tbh I’ve never even heard of Malacca but it looks so cute!! And the people seem so nice 🥰 Definitely need to plan a weekend trip there 🤩
It’s such a laid back place, beautiful atmosphere too
Malacca is a historic city recognised as a UNESCO heritage site. There used to be an empire called as Malacca Empire that controlled the East-West trade along the Malacca Strait. Now it's just a small quiet town.
Most malaysia try to avoid the heat that why not many people around 9am untill 5pm. Every place will get busy after 5pm when temperatures get cooler.
Oh I see!
Welcome to historical melaka. World heritage site.
Thank you!
the history of malacca goes by like this A prince named Parameswara resting under a tree know called as Malacca tree, and a let me summarize this Portuguese Empire came then Dutch Empire came with help Johor Sultanate British Empire came and made a treaty with Dutch Empire then The Japanese Army came then British come back again and boom Indepedence(today is national/independence day of malaya)
Thank you for sharing this!
Not saree, those are nyonya attire, the peranakan people
Yeah.. So many restaurants & food in Malaysia.. If u lucky Ashley u will get 'belanja' culture treat from Malaysian 🇲🇾
I hope so!
Hello from Melaka.
Should you visit jonker street on weekends, the entire place would be pack with people and cars. All shops crowded with visitors, its hard to walk around or enter a shop.
At the red square there is a museum of melaka which explains the past history of Melaka .
I will most definitely come back on a weekend next time! Thanks
The “tacky” Tuk Tuk made my stay in Melaka 😍🔥🙌🤣
They're so fun right!
its a bummer that u didn't come during the weekend. jonker walk is very lively during the weekend, albeit a bit too packed for me haha. also the river with bars and all on the sides are much more beautiful at night with the lights and the river cruise. maybe for future destinations, just at least do research of the best time to go when the activities available are at the peak, because you said you want to go blind and be surprised, right.
I agree, it was a fault of my own. A shame to have missed it though, it would have been very cool to see!
@@Ashleysplanet no fault Ashley! It's your travel experience no one should dictate how your experience goes 👍
There is a river cruise along Melaka river that you should try because it is really beautiful during night and also very informative....
I regret not doing one!
You're always welcome to come back here again... 😁
@@AzlindaRosAbdulAziz Oh yes, I'll be back!
Today is independence day, 31st august
Happy independence day!
You missed out many things in Malacca.
You walk passed nyonya restaurant and you not try ancient foods. Nyonya is the peoples that went to Malaysia at Ming dynasty and they still preserve their traditions foods. If you lucky, you might find something that left behind by Ming dynasty era.
I'll try Nyonya food next time, thanks!
I think mr gan has passed away. Yes body builder
So sad, thanks for clarifying
Ha ha😂 Do your own research about Melaka? So sad you didn't homework.
Sometimes I enjoy travelling with an open mind to really take the places I visit at face value 🤷♂
