Your voice it's so beautiful and calming
Aw that’s so lovely thank you!! ☺️
Brilliant idea 💡
Really enjoyed this video, thank you. It reminded of using same technique I discovered through my own experimental play years and years ago. The technique wasn't new then and it's not new now but I loved the moment I 'discovered it' just through exploration. It's great when textile artists like Shelly, and yourself of course, share techniques like this so we can all be reminded of them or even better, discover them for the first time. I have Shelly's book... loads of brilliant ideas in there and reminders of some I need to revisit. I feel a grid coming on... it's been a while..
You're right, it's so fun to 'discover' new techniques. Shelly's book is amazing isn't it, so rich with ideas. Every time I pick it up I find something new! Thanks for watching :)
That's so cool! Just ordered one with 12 pans. Excited😃
Hooray! I sent it to you this morning 😃 Hope you enjoy using it 🎨
More power to you and thank you for taking more challenges. ❤😇 I'll take inspiration from you in my journey to take over my fears 💪
Thank you! Go tackle those fears 👊💪👑 yeahhh!!!
I TOOK UP WATER COLOUR FLOWERS AND I LOVE IT I ENJOY PAINTING AND DRAWING EVERYTHING, I ADMIRE ALL KINDS OF ART WORK. MY DAD AND SISTER ARE ALSO ARTISTS, BYE MARIA
HELLO ROSE, FIRST TIME I SEE YOUR VIDEO, YOUR BIRDS ARE VERY GOOD, AND YOUR COLOURFUL SKETCH BOOKS, I TOO PAINT AND DRAW IN SKETCH BOOKS AND PANEL BOARDS TOO. HOPE TO SEE MORE VIDEOS, OK HELLO FROM THE ISLAND OF MALTA. BYE MARIA I LIKE MAKING FRIENDS WITH OTHER ARTISTS.
Thank you so much 😀
I love this, Rose! It's really interesting to see the development of your process and how you've been working and thinking about that.... I'd love to read that book about fear and art!
Thank you so much! I very much recommend that book! 🤓
Thank you Rose, I really enjoyed this video! I love all your colourful new pages! That's Arctic sketchbook is really lovely! And I do also have a fear of using my paints, isn't that crazy? You inspire me to do so much! Love all your birds too, I want to paint birds now 😅
Awww thank you so much Maria! I totally get the fear of paints! It’s a mystery really because it’s not that scary 😆 Happy painting birds 😃 xx
Wonderful thanks for sharing ❤❤
You are so welcome
here in brazil the Hahnemuhle's D&S sketchbook is really expensive... since art supplies here are so expensive we're actually used to a lot worse quality sketchbooks (and other art supplies in general), like the Canson's ArtBook One 100g wich is the most common for people to buy, so really any of the hahnemuhle's sketchbooks are very high quality for us! great video, thanks for the review :D
Oh yes I bet! It’s probably because it has to travel so far to get to you 😅 I actually think Hahnemuelle are really exceptional quality sketchbooks.
Thank you!!!
You’re welcome!
Ooooh I love your new hair cut and colour, it really suits you. Sorry I missed the Live, got got off work, I'm gonna enjoy it now 😊
Thank you! I fancied a change and a haircut is one way to do that 😅 Hope you enjoy the stream on replay ☺️
Love it I’ll have to try it!
Thanks Rose! What a great idea. I love the way your junk journals look. I'm interested in making a concertina version... any tips about how to work the folds and the covers?
Maybe I should make a follow up video about the concertina version!
That was really enjoyable to watch and I really love this idea, thank you Rose for sharing 🥰
Thanks for watching! 🤓
I wonder if wallpaper would be successful?
You could try it! It’s probably a bit thick though… but let me know if you try it!
Really nice technique!
Thank you!
What kind of glue do you use? Thanks
Cellulose paste- the same as wallpaper paste. In the video I discuss which brand I use
Beautiful! I will try dye na flow. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching! Have fun experimenting 🤓
What a gorgeous resource for artwork. Thank you, Rose!
CORRECTION: I said in the video that dye-na-flow doesn’t need to be heat set, but in fact it does if you want it to be washable. On Jacquard’s website it says: “Dye-na-flow is permanent on any porous or semi-porous surface… it spreads on fabric until it is thoroughly absorbed and even, sinking into the fibers like a dye instead of sitting on the surface like thicker paints and inks. The colors are super vibrant & washfast and will not change the feel of the fabric.” I totally got the wrong end of the stick from this description and thought it meant heat setting is not necessary in order for it to be permanent. In fact in reading further it seems that if you’re not intending to wash it, you don’t really need to heat set it, but it DOES need to be heat set for true permanence. You can easily do this with a hot iron. Sorry for the misinformation!
Hi Rose - lovely video :). I have used Dye-na-flow on gauze before and it works really well. It does need to be heat set though - an iron would work :) x
Thanks so much for pointing that out- I don’t know where I got the idea that it doesn’t need to be heat set! 🙈 I don’t want to spread misinformation so I will post a correction comment. Thanks for letting me know so gently!! 😘
@@RoseWildsmith I think it’s fine not to heat set as long as it won’t be laundered or in contact with a fabric that it could transfer on to. Lovely results on the gauze x
Love the effect but…what’s the advantage of using those dyes rather than say diluted acrylic inks? Is it that they don’t stiffen the fabric? I’m thinking to use acrylic inks on thin plastic & then use the marks left as transfer sheets.
Acrylic inks would work too, I just happened to have these in my stash. The dye-na-flow is specifically designed for fabric and is permanent (washable) without changing the hand of the fabric. I don’t know whether acrylic ink would be permanent without heat setting, and could make the fabric stiffer as you say. If you’re using it in artwork the difference probably isn’t too much, but if you wanted to use it in textile work and for it to be washable you might prefer the dye-na-flow.
@@RoseWildsmith tx for the response…yes I was looking to use if flat tx,
This is genius! Thank you so much for sharing! I’m off to order a ring bound sketchbook ❤️
Enjoy!!
Just love it!
Thank you so much! ☺️
Your an artist for sure! Wish I had a grandma like yours. After my husband passed away I lost my desire to create, it’s been almost 10 years…I’m on a new journey to recover this freedom. Found your videos inspiring. Got all my material and I’m so scared to just open my sketchbook.
So sorry for the loss of your husband. I’m sorry it caused you to also lose your creativity 😢 I find art and creativity so healing, I hope you find your way back to it. The best thing to get over the hump is just to start and do something… anything to get going. Good luck!! 🤞
Be happy! You inspire me. Have a great journey!
Thank you for such a lovely comment 🥰
Thanks Rose for spending time with us, I loved it! lots of very pretty papers! especially love the spirograph!
I just got one of your books from Amazon, the Grunge Artist Paper Book. I’m gonna use a page or two in a collage page tonight!
Yay!! I hope you have fun with it 🤩 If you enjoy it I would really appreciate if you could leave a 5 star review on Amazon because it’s still so new, it would really help 🥰
Gorgeous!
Thank you!!

@@RoseWildsmith I definitely want to create a book like this using my own artwork ! 🎨✨️💖
WOW!!! Those are beautifully done!
Thank you so much!! 🤗
Wow, congratulations on your first books! They look absolutely delicious, so much texture and so colourdul too! great photography and great prints! It's such a great idea to make doubles of each design because sometime we just love both sides of every page. good call! I'd love to buy these books one day. And yes please, a video showing us how you make your junk journal, I love this kind of junk journals.
Thanks so much! 😊 They are also on Amazon UK btw. I have filmed the junk journal video- coming soon! Just need to get editing 🤪
I love it. Do you remember the name of the flea market? I'm going to Greece in July and would love to go there. Thank you
It was called Monastiraki flea market. There are lots of shops selling tourist stuff but if you walk around a bit there are some places selling antiques and other old stuff. Lots of little lanes to explore! Have a good trip!
Do you ship to the US?
Yes I do 🙂
😊
I watched along with the recording and worked in my sketchbook. Thanks for the company and inspiration !
Thanks so much for watching! 🦋
So cute I thought about doing a tiny kit too but I haven’t yet, yours is great and so small!
Thanks! I made another tiny kit which has 12 colours in it which is even cuter 🥹
Beautiful Rose! Thank you I really love your layering ideas :)
Thank you Rose for making time to share all these wonderful pages with us, I really love all of them. I am very interested in signing and I will be able to do so after the 4th April. Quick question, is the course lifetime access ? Thank you 😊
Thank you Maria! Yes the course is lifetime access ☺️ I’d be delighted if you joined ❤️
@RoseWildsmith I'm so looking forward to it, just waiting for my credit card to clear for March. I love all your techniques, beautiful layers and texture
This is so cute ❤❤❤
Brilliant! So sweet and handy (literally)!
What do you mean by "kitchen paper", is that paper towels? Yours look stronger than that? I am in the USA :) I just ordered that book also thank YOU!!!
Yes!! Paper towels that come on a roll that you use in the kitchen. They aren’t super durable but once you sew them they are surprisingly strong! Enjoy the book- it’s fab 😃 x
I think you might want to invest in quarter pans. That way you can add a black, brown, and white. I have quarter pans and they work fine with water brushes, especially the smaller brush pens. You can also buy a terry cloth wrist band to use to clean your brush and you can adhere your quarter pans, to the round container, with rubber cement. That will keep them from shifting around but allow you to remove and replace them as needed. But personally, I would also add a small, cross-body bag to hold my equipment. That way I could add a pencil, eraser, and small water bottle. I have a nylon one, that weighs almost nothing, that is mean to hold a passport and other necessary papers.
I have a follow-up video coming soon about this! Thanks for all your suggestions 🙂
I love this idea! I'm going to go and find my stick - from one of my favourite trees. It seems to me a very meditative practice, wrapping and thinking about my intention or wish. Thank you!!
Glad you like the idea! Would love to hear how it goes when you try it :)
