  • In this video I experiment with hanging my textile artwork outside to weather for 12 weeks, inspired by the book 'Fragmentation and Repair' by Shelley Rhodes. I show you how to create a textile piece using cellulose paste, and what happens when I hang it outside for 12 weeks!
Please let me know in the comments what you think I should do next with this piece!

My vote is to bury it! It's beautiful material you picked by the way. And I love the picture hanging on the wall at the beginning of the video. Very inky, blendy and beautiful. 😊

Thank you! I just used pieces from my scrap bag and I’ve recently made a couple of rainbow projects for children. So lots of bright colours! 🌈

What a cool process, Rose! I'm getting all sorts of ideas for my own quilting now...

I love the faded weathered look so much. I love it in clothes too, is why I love second hand clothes 😅
I think burying it sounds interesting, im intrigued....
    Thanks for sharing Rose❤

Thanks Maria! I definitely want to try burying something, but might start with a slightly smaller piece in case it totally disintegrates 😆

Beautiful! I'd be really sorry to see it buried, but I'm sure it would be interesting... I might go with cutting it up and doing something different with each piece - a sort of sampler? ❤

Good idea! I love that plan. I was thinking of trying the burying with a smaller piece first but I LOVE the idea of cutting this piece up and making a sampler of different techniques 😃

I guess you'll have to stitch everything you pasted with cellulose glue. Usually it's water-soluble, I know it as wallpaper paste. I'm curious how your large piece will be after being buried for a while 🥰

Yeah I think that’s why Shelley recommended it because it breaks down, and adds to the weathered effect. Looking forward to trying the burying! Thanks for watching 💖
