I like a 148 gr. hollow base wadcutter. It is a devestating round when loaded with a propper powder load. I load all my ammo and wad cutters are great for EDC in a short barrel revolver.

One thing that annoys me about these conversations is it's always "ball and cap" yet British bull dog is a double action 44 webley that's black powder and not a bad option in my opinion if you can't get a modern handgun for whatever reason.

You got a new subscriber! I couldn’t agree more! People have bought into the marketing scheme of these ammo manufacturers with these new and “improved” bullet types, but completely disregard the wadcutter. In my opinion it’s the best round you can carry, especially out of a short barrel j-frame style revolver.?

I have been carrying a S&W model 29 for 22 years. I prefer for CCW my 4 inch barrel. I do have a model 29, 6 1/2 inch barrel as well will carry it in the colder weather sometimes when more heavily dressed. For target shooting, I do use the 44 special 220 grain. Once in a while, I will get a 44 mag rem. 240 grain. For CCW, I use the Hornaday Critical Defense hollow tips. I have taken tactical classes and am able to move around with my model 29 and get off shots quickly. This weapon was made for me, would not consider anything else. Been shooting model 29's since my teen years carrying them for 22 years CCW. I do not recommend this weapon for most people.

I regret not buying a M1 Carbine 5-10 years ago, but I recently bought a WW2 Postal Meter Carbine for about $1400 out the door. It saw time in South Korea based on what I could tell with the import marking and it definitely runs great. The real drawback on them today is the price of ammo and the weapon itself. Mine is currently in it's original configuration, but I am about to swap the stock for a polymer folding one and I am going to replace the handguard with a pick rail for a red dot. The best part is that I can always return it to it's original configuration if needed or wanted.

Wadcutters? Really? I’d suggest anyone thinking of wadcutters for self defense, that is killing your attacker not only think twice but also do some ballistic tests. I can hardly believe this subject is remotely taken seriously. My concealed carry is a compact 45ACP, my reloads of +P 240gr HP. Fast burning Red Dot powder for max muzzle velocity. No comparison to medium wadcutter (SWC) loads. Experience over and over proves you’ll have one kill shot, and it had better count. Debate over.

Interesting. I own several 44 revolvers (e.g., SW 29) and pistols (DE). My view is that I want to shoot these as hot and powerful as possible. If not, I can shoot a 45LC. For example, I reload 30g of Winchester 296 with 180g bullet. This represents to my knowledge the most powerful load for the 44 Mag. Why shoot lighter loads? Takes the fun out of it in my opinion.

I think this is a stupid argument. It's like saying cops should never be seen. All of them should be undercover??? Let's do 50/50 and leave people alone. We all know half of them can't shoot. But let people carry open 24/7 without restriction. If I see someone trying to take away a gun from someone.... likely I've been paying attention.

  • @jimc7022

Plenty of backpackers and hunters open carry. To say always keep it concealed while camping is a bit ignorant. To say people who open carry are always the ones with cheap guns and cheap rigs is showing more of your ignorance. Let’s take backpacking….if you choose to carry while in bear country, as many do, and you have a 40 lbs pack on your back with shoulder and wide waist traps, where do you propose they conceal a 10mm pistol in a way where they could draw in time for a charging bear? Many backpackers may use a chest rig so it is out of the way of their straps. That doesn’t make them yahoo who’s just out to flash a gun. Also, what does it matter if a backpacker has an expensive gun and rig or a budget option? Stop being a gun snob. My bear country sidearm and rig isn’t cheap but even if it was, who cares? I’d never look down on another hiker for choosing a more budget friendly firearm and rig option as long as it’s suitable to the task. And if it wasn’t suitable I may offer some advice if they are inexperienced but I would just smirk all smug like the 3 of you do. 👎

Your 22 magnum won’t penetrate body armor! These bullets have a nasty tendency to turn backwards! They have great ballistics considerations as well as velocity! I was at Ft. Hood for that incident believe me nobody wants to be shot at with a 5.7 !! Magazine capacity is also great! I wouldn’t want to be shot with a 22 magnum either! I believe in precision accuracy for self defense and this round is great for accuracy at close range!

Western Colorado man here and I always carry. When I go camping, I carry what many would call an arsenal sometimes, just depends. Since my favorite hobby is fast draw with my Ruger single action and that gun belt packs better than any of my others, that is what I carry on me when I camp. It is different here; nobody thinks anything of seeing someone open carrying. Last summer I was camping on the river in one of my favorite spots. There was one other guy in the campground (Roger), we met and jawed a bit at his camp, he was from back east and was gold panning. He met my dog Zule and was fine with Zule ranging the campground as our guard (he is really good at it). Roger never said a word about me packing, didn't seem to bother him in the least. Just after sundown a couple pulled into one of the spots between us in a car. Zule's hackles went up, so I put him in the camper and started walking toward the car to introduce myself. They had walked off toward the river and as I started down the path gunfire broke out, four shots in rapid succession, thankfully not aimed in my direction. I eased down the path as the gunfire resumed and came out of the willows about ten feet behind the couple. The young man was trying to clear a jam in his ridiculous "AK Pistol" and the girl was sitting on a rock. They both jumped two feet straight in the air when I said hello. Within seconds it was obvious these two were hyped out of their heads on something, and that always gets my goat, I unsnapped the Ruger. I explained that I was ready for bed and the other camper was probably in bed and it was a little late to be target practicing. I asked him what he was shooting at, he pointed to a can about twenty feet down the beach and said, "I just want to finish this clip on it, ok?" It was not a fast draw, but my sight acquisition was quick, and it probably seemed like it to them. The can flew off in the distance and I said "No, you should leave." If you think crack heads jump high when you sneak up on them, you should see what they do when a 45 Long Colt goes off and their can disappears when they are not expecting it. It was quite comical, and they decided to leave. I walked up to Roger's camp to let him know everything was ok, he broke out a beer and we had a good laugh going over the story. He said when they went past his camp on their way out, they were white as sheets and going like the devil himself was on their tale. I think he was exaggerating a little because he could see how much I was enjoying myself.

Your channel won't go viral, and you won't gain many subscribers or views. The reason is: 1. Your video isn't being SEOed properly. SEO Score: 0 out of 100. 2. Your video isn't reaching the right people. 3. Not using video hashtags properly 4. Not sharing the video on social media sites. 5. There are not enough ranking tags. A6. There is some evidence that chain fires are most often from improperly fitted caps assuming your ball is proper size. Replacing stock nipples with quality ones appears to help quite a bit with cap jams.
