Also bear in mind that green dot lasers use batteries up a lot faster than the red dots. I’m surprised the guys didn’t mention that. It also means you need to keep some extra batteries around & that can be a consideration - it’s easy to overlook.
One thing you didn't mention, although you might have left it out because it didn't fit the "You might die" theme... is lasers work wonderfully when you need to dispatch vermin around the farm at night. It's legal here where we are, and we have a real problem with coyotes, racoons, and possums raiding the coops and when the new calves hit the ground. The surrounding counties have feral HOGS tearing up the pastures and fields. Lasers are a great solution. HIt them with the mounted light and laser combo and ... boom.
Tom, trying to determine the model gun you're holding. Reminds me of a Sig Sauer (maybe a P229), but I couldn't see it well enough to tell for sure. Appears well loved and I'm guessing it's one you like.
Usually the K9 has THE Psychological effect that you’re talking about. Nobody want to be a chew toy lol

As usual, another practical episode !!! Thanks for sharing your experiences and opinions. Roy, please show us your dawgs on full alert, with all their tactical gear including helmets, microphone communications. Please ask them to show their descalation procedures progressing up the necessary application to neutralize. These must be some amazing animals!!!!

Regarding ‘investigate vs call the police’.
(A) Do we have enough police in the country with nothing to do that they can investigate every time a cat knocks something off a shelf ?
(B) In that very scenario you mentioned on the show where you shined the light on your kid….had you rather it had been a nervous rookie who didn’t know him ?
A friend went sleepwalking. Father and brother (a cop and a martial artist) heard the door open and shut so went looking. Friend woke and heard them searching so he joined the search. Leapt on his brother yelling “I got him!” The two Black Belt brothers rolled around a while. Add a cop who didn’t know anyone from anybody and it might not have been a funny family story.
I know cops are all highly trained professionals with great distinction and discernment….but there have been mistakes.

With regards to your comments about the internet and possibly not being able to see gun stuff online, our local gun club's pro shop figured out that the credit/debit card company they were going through (Shopify) was preventing transactions from happening. Don't know all the details but they did finally figure out a way around all that BS. Big brother is watching. Thank you for the video and now, back to our regular broadcast. Laser is never your only sight, but it is great in low light (it will not identify targets in NO light). It allows you to aim without having the gun at eye level, even to shoot from odd positions. But I’m not throwing away my sights.
Well I completely dislike optics mounted on the top of my handguns and I will never have one of those.... Lasers on a handgun that are unobtrusive perhaps built into the grip are definitely a great additional tool to have for low light situations or situations where you can't get a sight picture with the iron sights.. you should always train with your iron sights.. something like a laser built into the grips it's just an extra tool

My own experience from about 20 years ago was, great for learning trigger control on a j-frame. Did a test of myself using a timer and a S&W 340. Paper plate at 10 yards from low ready. Five shots with .357 mag. Hit the plate 4 times. Five shot with .38 special critical defense, hit the plate with all 5 shots faster time by about .4 seconds. Finally five more with the. 38 spe. And CT laser grip turned off. Faster yet by 1/2 second. Lesson, do not need or want laser grips or .357 mag in a j-frame.
Also I would like to add a little information from a local sheriff that a laser on yourself defense weapon if you have to use it will look very suspicious to a district attorney and they more than likely will butcher you for it

I have had Crimson Trace laser grips and laser guards on my carry guns for years. They are on when I establish a shooting grip. They work on a cloudy day and indoors at normal defensive distance. I am both more accurate and quicker at 7yd. with the laser. From a holster or low ready. I am on target before the gun is at eye level at 7yd. At 15 yd. the sights often work better depending on light conditions.
Lasers have their ups and downs. It does truly depend on the situation. I don't own one, myself. I have only used those that were bought by the taxpayers. In most self-defense situations I would much rather have a white light, so that when I go to court, I can articulate what I saw and why I shot. I do, however, remember back in '98 or '99 when BORTAC came out to do a night training at the Sector range on Otay Mesa. It had been a very dry year. As those guys moved through their tactical course of fire, they kicked up HUGE amounts of dust! Most, if not all of their Berettas, SIGs, MP5s, and shotguns were equipped with red lasers. A bright red line was drawn back to each one of them through the dust. Just a case of not knowing when to turn the damn thing OFF! Oh, I almost forgot. We made them go through the tactical movement portion of the course with empty weapons. Every time one of them stubbed his toe or hit a barricade, we heard a click. All those clicks probably made the place sound like Normandy in the pre-dawn hours of June 6th. So, we got to give the "high speed" operators a little safety lecture about where to keep their trigger fingers during movement. Cheers! Splice.

Especially on a small snub nose or small semi-auto with tiny sites and a short sight radius.. I think a crimson Trace laser grip is perfect.. you still use your iron sights but the laser will confirm that you are dead on target! .. again another tool in your arsenal..

Do not buy one that requires you to remove it to change the battery.
The only use I'VE found for lasers is the Crimson Trace Laser Grips on my 30+ year old Taurus 94, 9 shot .22.
We had a Vole (basically mouse) invasion in my neck of the woods a few years ago.
You could go outside and flip about ANYTHING over, that was "flipable," and find a dozen of the little bast@+&$ under there.
They would run in all directions, you could get a few or them with shotshells and the laser.
You could see the laser at that short of range.
BTW, Crimson Trace started here in Orygun putting lasers integral INSIDE of GLOCKS.
They came down to the Gun Shop I was working in and demonstrated them to us. I was 20-24 years old and had no desire for one.
I do knida like Laser Grips though.
I think before red dot sites or electronic sites were more prevalent lasers had their place. However I think red dot sights are now going to replace lasers, as a best option. They offer 99% of the functionality without any of those drawbacks.
Off topic but Tom your pop filter is too close to the mic, it can't do it's job if the fabric is not able to move because it's touching the mic
