Were those guitars recorded with the same amp or were there variances?

So I just sat down and watched every cover of this song on CZcams that I could find. With every pathetic/sub-par/mediocre cover I watched, the feeling of dissatisfaction kept growing and growing. I couldn't let it go until I found one that was as good as it should be. Well, it has been over TWO HOURS since I began searching and I can tell you beyond ANY shadow of a doubt: What you have here is the single greatest cover of this song on ALL of CZcams. Next to Weezer themselves, a better cover of this song does not exist. Why this doesn't come up at the top of the page is baffling, I am legitimately angry that this doesn't have more views. I know this comment is a bit long but after investing so much time and getting increasingly frustrated with this search, I felt it necessary to tell you about it. You should be really damn proud of yourselves, you NAILED it.

I got a C-1 Elite back in 2005. Had it for about 13 years. I missed that guitar. I just bought a used one in excellent condition. Out of all the guitars I've owned, it was the guitar that just felt the best for me. Also, interesting story. I've been jamming since I was 15 back in the mid 90's. I've played a lot of guitars from many big name brands. Two brands I definitely just couldn't ever get used to. Gibson guitars always have this thick neck and didn't feel right in my hands. Ibanez guitar necks were too wide for me. They felt more like I was holding a 7 string. ESP and Jackson were probably the only two that felt better. In 2004 I walked into Guitar Center and my eyes stumbled upon a Schecter C-1 Classic. I was blown away how beautiful that guitar was. I had never heard of Schecter myself. I grabbed that C-1 Classic and, man, that guitar felt perfect in my hands. I went back the following week and bought a C-1 Classic. That was in 2004, That was my first Schecter guitar. Then in 2005 I went to Guitar Center and bought a Schecter C-1 Elite. In 2008 I went to GC and bought a Schecter C-1 Hellraiser FR. And the last Schecter guitar I bought was a Schecter JL-7 FR in 2011 from GC's website. I'm not a fanboy by any means, but it's the brands that I most enjoy. Their guitar necks just feel perfect in my hand. And that is what mattered the most to me. The biggest reason why I never owned an Epiphone or Gibson. And as I said, I just bought a used C-1 Elite because I miss the one I had. It's in excellent condition with no dinks, dents. Very minor scraches from picking the guitar strings. I got it for $500 total with tax on Reverb. I'm definitely not going to let this one go. I personally prefer their guitars from mid 2000's to early 2010's. There are a few newer guitars in their line that I like, but they just don't make them look special like they used to. I still own the Hellraiser and JL-7. I've kept them in mint condition. The JL-7 still is my first and only 7 string I've ever owned and played. It's a blast to jam with.

Really useful tips, thanks man. Just wondering how you'd apply panning to the indie sound of bands like Libertines (e.g. Can't Stand Me Now), or even Pixies, where it's common for the two guitars to be playing different parts simultaneously (sometimes complimentary chords)? Can you still make those sound big with hard panning, or do the parts need to be identical? Or is this really just for metal and heavy rock? Also where would you pan? Double track both left and right? Single track one hard left and one hard right? Something else? Or is playing different parts in general just a bad idea? I saw someone suggest hard panning two takes of the same part, and then doing the same again an octave up, but I wasn't sure if that would just cause a chaotic mess?

It's amazing how the doubletrack+pan makes it sound as if the bass is 3-dimensional, or as if the rhythm guitars have really strong bass to them, but really it's the bass guitar getting its "free lane" in the center :p

I largely relate to your list, but I think I'd put Alpha and Cold Day Memory higher. One thing that really blows my mind about 7D is all of their amazing side projects. Projected is amazing, Clint Lowery has several great side projects, Morgan's Controlled Chaos album is great, and I've also liked the side stuff I've heard from Lajon - especially Mob Mentality by Earthside. There is so much talent within 7D!

The only thing about the schaller bridge is that you can't go above .052 gauge strings. I regularly use .062 and schaller doesn't seem to make bigger roller saddles for it.

Bro, I have the exact same guitar but with SD pups without the chrome covers. Funny story: I got out of playing and sold all my stuff (sounding familiar?) and kept my original first acoustic, which I still have. This Schecter was my first guitar purchased after a 20 year break from playing. I still have it along with 10 or so more guitars I've picked up in the past 8 years. I play the Schecter pretty much every day. As you said, it just feels right in the hands. It really competes well with my custom shop Fender and against LP. Schecter is under-rated in my opinion. It sounds like you mostly like the chunky less melodic, more rhythm focused stuff and shun the songs with a lot of let's say vocal focus, or harmonies. My S tier would be Animosity, Home, Next, Cold Day Memory, Kill The Flaw and All I See Is War Alpha and Chapter VII are definitely their worst albums but still better than a lot of other bands, i'd drop those in C tier, and the rest sprinkled in A and B tier. Time Travelers is definitely a Mood album but for what it does, it is exquisetly produced and engineered. Sevendust just doesn't need a D tier. Not one of these albums has a song on them that i actively dislike, or want to skip. The worst things they've put to recording is "average", and there's not much of that in this discography. They continue to be masters of their craft.

Hello guys ! Just a question : When you have rhythm guitar and also a melodic guitar at the same time you double track rhythm guitar and one hard left panned and the other one hard rght panned. But what di I need to do if there's a melodic double track guitar at the same time ? (it's the case for most of my metal song) Do you pan it left 70% and right 70% or 50% left 50% right...? I know that these 2 different guitar part don't supposed to be hard panned the same ! Please help ! THANKS !

Bought this guitar in october, removed the ground issues and got the neck to feel smooth by scraping some on the neck and on the frets. When I had changed the strings and went into intonation i noticed the neck was twisted from left to right making it really hard to fix.. It's been hanging on the wall since which is a shame cause I actually think it sounds pretty good. Like you said - a beginner shouldn't have to make these changes to a newly bought guitar.

Thank you sooo much for this explanation. However I have one question. So I just purchased a Trs patchbay to use in my studio. My only interface that I’m using is the SSL12, which only has 4 analog in and 4 analog out (I can use adat but I don’t have an expansion interface). My question is, do I NEED an xlr bay? I guess I’m stumped at the part of where I plug my mics into. I used to obviously just plug them into the inputs of the SSL, but I want the option of sending that vocal signal to my comp. Long story short, do I need an xlr patch bay? Or is there another way to set everything up. Thanks again!

Not only do the guitars get bigger. The drums immediately have more presence in the mix and gives the songs the punch.

great tutorial but I have a question - I am about to record two guitarists which I usually pan L& R, sounds big but I want bigger, would you recommend double-tracking both guitars - won't that just get messy? - how would you pan them, I'm currently thinking panning hard left and right then the 'doubles' 50% left and right in order to keep the 'sides'?

i agree with you about panning. it works really well.

20 or so years ago when I was in school for broadcast radio and we were going over production, my teacher dropped the often used line "You can polish a turd as much as you want, it'll still be a turd. Maybe an acceptable looking turd, but still a turd." Digital recording takes cost nothing. Press delete and do it again if it has a flaw you think you can't live with. But, also, perfection kills creativity, too. Sometimes, you have to just give it your best then Embrace the Suck.

Are you double tracking your left tracks AND double tracking your right tracks, or do you have two takes total and the L and R are copies of each other?
