  • Join me as I discuss and rank all 14 studio albums by the mighty Sevendust. 26 years and 14 albums worth of music, from the self-titled "Sevendust" way back in 1997 to 2023's offering, "Truth Killer" and everything in between.
This is just my opinion, so don't get angry if I don't rank your favorite higher...people like different things and it ok to have different opinions (unless you don't think Animosity is S tier...then you're just wrong) ;-p

I largely relate to your list, but I think I'd put Alpha and Cold Day Memory higher.
One thing that really blows my mind about 7D is all of their amazing side projects. Projected is amazing, Clint Lowery has several great side projects, Morgan's Controlled Chaos album is great, and I've also liked the side stuff I've heard from Lajon - especially Mob Mentality by Earthside. There is so much talent within 7D!

I think Seasons is the best thing they've done period, and one of the best albums of all time

Seasons is good, but not even close to Animosity...in my opinion.

It sounds like you mostly like the chunky less melodic, more rhythm focused stuff and shun the songs with a lot of let's say vocal focus, or harmonies.
My S tier would be Animosity, Home, Next, Cold Day Memory, Kill The Flaw and All I See Is War
Alpha and Chapter VII are definitely their worst albums but still better than a lot of other bands, i'd drop those in C tier, and the rest sprinkled in A and B tier. Time Travelers is definitely a Mood album but for what it does, it is exquisetly produced and engineered.
Sevendust just doesn't need a D tier. Not one of these albums has a song on them that i actively dislike, or want to skip. The worst things they've put to recording is "average", and there's not much of that in this discography. They continue to be masters of their craft.

I wouldn't necessarily say that....there's plenty of vocal forward, melodic stuff in my B and higher tiers....and there's plenty of heavy, chunky stuff in my lower tiers as well. There's some stuff on Alpha and Kill the Flaw that I love, but overall as whole album, they fell a little flat for me. Chapter VII is the one that just doesn't really hit me at all....but like you said, I don't "dislike it" or want to skip past it...I just don't go to that album if I want a Sevendust fix.
