Oh god Katlego this is so true. So true. It's something I often think about and debate with my friends. There's a problem with the South African culture and to the large extent black culture. Most people often deny that there's a problem. But I often say the first step towards finding a cure is admitting that you're sick. I think the problem is not just the government but it's in our communities. It's in our societies. When I was in school I used to love reading Inqolobane. It contains Zulu history, idioms and proverbs. It contains a lot of beautiful ideas. But I don't see any of those things in our society, they are just nothing but proverbs. Our young girls care more about fun then education. Look at how our people spend their money especially those who are poor. As soon as they get paid, they buy alcohol and go to clubs. Our young boys all they ever talk about is girls and alcohol. It's all cheap pleasures and we have given in to it. Most of our people are uneducated and still blame apartheid. Until when I ask. Until when. Okay you may say apartheid caused the things you are dealing with or maybe it's the government. But who's going to change it? You're the only responsible for your life and it's your job to succeed despite all the bad things that happen to you.

The Government Took sex education out of the parents hands and into the states hands through our school curriculum. Here are the results! Our Parents and Grandparents lived through Apartheid and not once did they require handouts...now everyone wants everything for free. Crazy How you can map out South Africa's deterioration. Especially our Morals and values. On the ruling party, go listen to how well former leaders and struggle icons could articulate themselves and get their points across versus the rubbish we hear today. We were lucky to be parented by any elderly members of the community and they were not afraid to discipline us when they found us at fault but our children are untouchable because of some of us who regarded that as abuse now we are ripping what we sow sizala amaphara.

Hi Katlego, I usually watch you with a happy heart and then the topic of what you're speaking on sets in. Its heavy. So much of our black culture is so eroded. So far off. Ignorance(or just not wanting to change because 'goa tswana') wins with black people. Technology, feminism, social media standards? We've allowed all those to take over our entire being, including our emotional intelligence and how we just think in general. Yes you are right Katlego we may be number one in all the variables of moral degeneration but this is a global problem the proof of that is that you can't mention one country free of all the things you mentioned, it is slightly better in Muslim countries but it is a problem even there. Indigenous social systems that were set to prevent such bad behaviours were long ago dismantled and collapsed. Although, I'm not saying we should just hang our hands in the air and do nothing. The efforts to solve this problem are tremendous.

I'm a pastor and a Christian, and I want to challenge Christians and pastors to preach and teach about these issues. Modern churches are not teaching morality anymore because it is claimed that we're under grace. So this grace is a licence to sin. No, true grace leads to repentance from sin and also leads to moral behaviour. Many churches are also focusing on prosperity gospel and neglect personal and moral growth of believers. We must also challenge the rotten South African culture especially in the townships, which can be summarised in a pursuit of money, drinking and taking drugs as a way of life, lots of promiscuity and unbridled sex, entertainment, entertainment and more entertainment! Parents of South Africa are role modelling these behaviours and are also either encouraging our youth to partake, or turning a blind eye when they engage! I fully agree with you Katlego, I have three of the best young people and it's not easy, but my wife and I are fully engaged with them and we're engaging, monitoring and keeping an eye on them all the time, and they absolutely hate it, but we absolutely love it because it's called parenting and being responsible and accountable before the God who gave them to us! My wife and I had them when we were married and not out of wedlock, and so did our parents have us, so we are determined to keep this family tradition and we are constantly reminding them of that. We have told them in no uncertain terms that we won't raise their children like our parents didn't raise them, and that whatever immoral behaviour, they can do under the roof of their own homes when they have left the nest. We also pray for them which a lot of parents including believers don't do anymore, and what happened to family altar or prayer at home???

When you speak to them you are sworn at, threatened with your life and called rascist. They have no manners and speak to people the age of their grandparents with such disrespect. Great video Katlego. My uncle has been principle of one of the best township schools in KZN, Ogwini. He is hailed for being a strict disciplinarian and the school has had great success. He served for 38 years we are very proud of his work. This is what we need. Kudos to Soghayisa secondary.

They should ban politics at all Universities. Keep politics out of the classroom. Students are there to learn, not promote their political views. No political T shirts! Students should be there to learn skills and educate themselves. Start by getting rid of the Bella Bill! It comes down to basic discipline, children are not being disciplined by their parent/s it's not a race or status issue. Parents/schools are affraid to discipline children for acts of wrong doing as the laws over protects the kids & vilify the teachers/parents. Our kids have to many rights & laws that contribute to these matters. How many times have we heard of kids abusing their parents/teachers & yet it's not their fault "they are mos just kids" A little copral punishment never hurts.

Katlego when we were in primary school we were taught philosophy (why are we on this earth) , we had a philosophical outlook at life. These children never had such a thing they think life means hedonism " pursue and have pleasure at all costs" this is why we have such a pathetic culture as black folks.

What about the rise prostitution and human trafficking? So many young girl's and I see this with my own eyes. No one cares about them. Not the politicians, the police, social services ....no one.
