We are an outdoor gear company who believe good gear is not something we just sell but we also help you know how to use it. We also are very straight forward about what you can sincerely expect out of the gear we sell. My complete belief is that no one wants someone to buy something without knowing sincerely how well a thing is made and or if there are indeed things to be concerned about in regard to the gear they buy. I sincerely strive to be both the researcher and the seller so you can know what it is your getting and what things you need to know before you buy it. We also desire to make tons of content to help others learn for free, the things we feel you need to know. From cooking outdoors to fixing things to learning about wild edibles and how to identify them. We look at ourselves as being obligated to help others grow and learn the skills of life and sell awesome gear at the same time.

I looked this up because there's a really cool playlist called "Clover Beats: The Sound of Lucky Vibes" and the art for it says Trifolium Repens. So many of these grow near my home but I never knew they were safe to eat. Anyway, you probably won't see this comment but I enjoyed the knowledge you shared - thank you!!
Lines of Latitude run east to west, but measure distance from north to south; while lines of longitude run north to south, but measure distance east to west. Unless I’m misunderstanding, it sounded like you were saying that latitude measure east to west and longitude measure north to south. I’m only pointing this out so that beginners aren’t confused, because this stuff can be overwhelming when you first start learning
The intro music made me immagine that I was standing in a large room, surrounded hundreds of enemies armed with mele weapons, waiting to attack; then they suddenly attack, and I pull a Jason Borne and just start taking them out with nothing but my bare hands 🥋 🤛 🤜 👋 🦵 🐉 🐅. I guess Im still a kid at heart 🤷 Thanks for the video; I really needed a refresher. 🙏🏼
Cut the useless 4 minutes bro. Really
One of the rare Lensatic instructional videos that knows the proper way to do the compass to cheek sighting method. Most of them fold down the sight wire at a 45 degree angle. I think they confuse the Lensatic with a baseplate style compass. There’s no mirror on the Lensatic, the sight wire should be vertical. Thank you
Question for anyone out there. I just bought a new Petromax HK500 lamp and I cannot get this one to hold pressure. The manometer won't budge no matter how much it is pumped. Any help would be great. Thanks
What is the difference between the Petromax HK500 and the Britlyt?
Intro tooooo long
Whew. That info segment nearly wore me out. And when, exactly, is survival not "essential?" Free tips: First, shorten your introduction to about 6 seconds. That's plenty. 2. Your editor flubbed by by stating that survival is "essential." I think we all want to survive, and go on living. Also, when I was in the Marine Corps, nearly 60 years ago, I was the best Land Nav student in the battalion, at ITR.
Im so proud of your accomplishments which is great to boast about to no one as we Marines have nothing to boast in but merely are to walk with the pride we have only desired to protect and defend our country. That being said I cannot edit this video as it would effect the view count and have to be be reposted in order to do so. And news flash not all people young and old think like we do having served. Being a grunt serving in Marine Corps I seek to help those who dont know much about survival, let alone skills they would not have known unless one helps them see their importance. Hope this clarifies things.
Glad I found this video. I just got one of these lamps.
Petromax hk500 is what it is if you can't locate one they have other names under there contract name on it.
Thanks so much for the video lesson, help me a lot!

Fantastic videos with great explanations and also very educational. I have simple question. For the Cammenga Lensatic compasses which are balanced for Northern and Southern hemispheres, which model is suited for use in South East Asia like Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand? I live in Singapore and would like to purchase a Cammenga Lensatic compass. Please advise. Thanks!!!!!!
Since your comment is over a year old, I’m not sure if you are still in need of this information , but since no one answered you, I’ll give you my opinion. The Camenga compass model used by the US military is the Camenga model 3H. There are 2 versions: one with tritium and the other with phosphorescent (for nighttime navigation ). The tritium dies out in 10 to 15 years and is more expensive. For most people, it’s best to go with the phosphorescent model. One important thing to remember is that the Camenga H3 does not have a global needle, so you have to make sure you get the one that is suitable for your hemisphere. As far as I know, there is not a global version. What I do is I use a Sunto MC-2g (the Sunto MC2 global model) for navigation, and I keep the Camenga in my pack as a backup. The Sunto is great because it has a global needle which allows it to function anywhere in the world, a signal mirror, and more importantly, a declination adjustment. This way, once you set the declination, you no longer have to convert back and forth between grid and magnetic bearings. It also has a clinometer so you can measure elevation. The only downside is that it is liquid filled which has a risk of developing air bubbles with extreme changes in elevation and temperature, and since it is made of plastic, it is not as durable as the Camenga. So if you can afford it, it is worth having both. Otherwise, at least you now have some information so you can make an informed decision. Good luck!
I've been researching this after finding it in my yard. As I understand it, the plant branches after it's been damaged (such as having the top eaten or broken off). I hadn't seen an actual example of it until this video though! Thanks for the info!
Nice video. Informative. But wow, a three minute plus intro montage before the actual video. I don't think openings to Hollywood movies last that long.
This is supposed to be lesson 1 on the compass, not a lesson on maps. You lost me before half way through this one.
Thanks 🙏🏿 Please pay your idea about this video czcams.com/video/3w8wkw3ZWA4/video.html
can't handle your intro!
1:39 long erratic loud music! Ugh! Too much!
Dear Sir. You seem to have a great deal of knowledge, & I am very glad you see fit to share this with others. I have actually come across your name from other content creators so you know. I am not by any means attempting to be rude, disrespectful, or take anything away from your knowledge base. With that said, I watched this video & attempted to watch the second in this series. Unfortunately you do not stay on a clear path with your teachings. Honestly if I had not of watched an episode from a different creator already, you would have lost me in this video & I would have never made it to the next one. Your lessons need more fluidity please. Again I see that you know what you are speaking of, unfortunately it is being lost in translation. Thank you for your time.
Good
Just the intro was worth clicking the subscribe button
gotta watch out in case there death camas cause they look the exact same though they smell different (and taste different but gotta watch out its extremely poisonous)
Why act all scared if they dont smell like garlic it aint garlic
@@maccabbeebushcraft5546 idk maybe the fact that it can kill you? and looks the fucking same, and noses are pretty shit
Just wondering if you were confused for a moment on the grid to magnetic (map to compass)? If you move the bezel to the left it adds the declination to the azimuth and if you move to the right it takes declination value off of azimuth. Because I live in the East I have a Westerly declination which is a negative number. -7.5 degrees in my area. Grid to magnetic you subtract. So if I have 0 degrees - (-7.5) which is really adding then I get 7.5 degrees on my lensatic compass by moving bezel to the left so I can orient my map.
Sounded to me like he got them backwards because for an East declination you subtract and for Western declination you end up adding , important to remember its a negative value -(-x)= x , so its ADDED…. Iam also in the East and my declination is -12 deg West. Grid to Mag = ADD …. Mag to Grid = subtract…. The Magnetic angle is always Greater then the Grid angle for Western Declination. Grid Angle is always larger then magnetic for Eastern declinations. Thats how i rememeber it. His directions had me all fouled up for a minute there.
WTF was that first 90 seconds about?
Well it all started out one day when I decided to edit my video I made that the music was so intriguing to my ears I thought lets use this for the intro and tick off Steven Dunne who will one day watch it in some far away future date.
@@maccabbeebushcraft5546 it doesn't tick me off, but it does make you look like an ass.
Too much introduction/music. I lost interest….
Oh I like your videos! Clear close-ups for perfect identification. Thank you 👍
I laughed at how many times you used the words actual and actually because it was redundant and misused. You called the pump a gage. Overall good information on the piece of equipment. I appreciate that this lantern uses all types of fuels.
Thanks for this. I didn't know that my Butterfly would burn anything but kerosene. Plus I've never used that pan at the bottom but always the jet pressurized by the Schrader valve and a bicycle pump. Good to know this stuff.
Don't burn anything but kerosene or diesel in any Petromax or Petromax clone type lantern (Butterfly, Sea Anchor, Britelyte, etc) ever. While it may be fine for a while, these types of lanterns don't have positive shut off valves like Coleman's do. That means if the pump check valve fails it can very easily leak fuel out which then ignites from the flame of the mantle and results in fire or possibly an explosion. Also, if the vaporizer foot valve fails you can't shut the lanterns off without bleeding pressure out from the filler cap. Again, that could ignite the released gasoline vapours. Tons of info to read up on the internet about this. Kerosene isn't volatile like gasoline/white gas which makes it "safe" in the event that this happens.
@@user-ro7zd7hg1f Whoo weee, good advice. Thanks 😊
I'm curious why Jet Fuel falls under Gasoline instructions while Jet A is essentially Kerosene and Jet B is a Gasoline/Kerosene mix. Kerosene had its own instructions. What category of Jet Fuel is being used.
This is the best explanation I got so far on adjusting the lensentic compass from grid north to magnetic north
Is that the same as flea bain?
Very helpful! Now I can identify the horseweed when it's just starting to grow in my yard. Would be nice to have picture of the bloom, too.
Thank you man!!!
Leaving that string hanging on the mantle will ruin the mantle if it moves, you should always trim that off before lighting it the first time.
Your introduction is infuriating. Fu for that. Otherwise the actual content is great
Good video. Gotta cut down that intro, man. Almost left the video cause of it
Where is a good source to getting 1:25 scale maps? Thanks
I have the same lamp can you tell me how I can stop the pulsating light as I can see yours does the same any help would be much appreciated also thanks for the video

@@ballsacks8827 now thats an interesting question- You could go on to the Britelyt web site and shoot an e-mail to Eddie Draper and ask if he has one there he could sell. Eddy is a great guy and I can't speak highly enough of either him or thier Lanterns !

Next time you want to include written explanations in the video run them by your local schoolteacher first, it's embarrassing
It grows in my yard over fall winter and spring. I hate (feel guilty) to mow it because it's food, so I've transplanted a lot to a garden where I just need to de-weed. it is still happily growing densely in that garden and now I can mow my lawn guilt free.
What's with the intro bro? This ain't the matrix. Skip to 1:38 when you want to begin the lesson people.
Please don't advise viewers to use GASOLINE. It is never an option to use gasoline as fuel for lanterns. Too dangerous. Ang you can use denatured alcohol in the cup to heat the tubes.
Awh this lamp was created to use gas buddy. So please think before you speak. And I do advise you use gas especially since it burns better mixed 50/50 with diesel....
