#88 Loader Snow/Ice Removal: Trying Something New
Since I thought Winter was over I had made the Spring Switch. Loader on and snowblower packed away. Then came the snow and ice storm March 2024. We lost power for 18 hours and left us a mess to clean up. I've been wanting to try PVC on the front of the bucket to eliminate scraping of the asphalt. Here's how it all went.

This is our first of the wet and sticky stuff for 2024. I find that this sometimes turns into a lot of pushing before blowing but seemed to do ok. Traction was a bit of a problem as it was wet before snowfall and the snow turned that wet pavement to an slippery mess.

Hello Dave, I bought a used B2650 with the cab with 580 hours. Your video helped me a lot especially in locating where everything is. I'm not sure of how the previous owners did as far as maintenance goes, so I am going to do the filters as well as the fluids. So far the only issues I have found with this tractor, is the PTO display button on the dash does not display the PTO speed (Screen won't switch over) but RPM screen works, and I know the approximate RPM it should be so that's not a big deal, and it looks like the previous owner might have tweaked the front loader a bit because one side is about an inch higher than the other, but the quick attach still works, I just have to triple check that the engagement pins engage into the implements. Thank you for making this video.

My older unit has steering zerks (grease fittings) and front axel zerks I'll bet you have them and missed them. fyi on that oil filter you should not need a wrench after the factory (censored) install. However, butt the old oil and new filters (seal to seal) to see that the seals align, when installing screw it reverses once or twice to align it, then forward until snug, reverse screw it one turn to lube the seal contact then forward to snug, then add 1/8-1/4 turn to tighten. Airfilter ? Gas filter? No ethanol Gas! If forced to run ethanol gas run it dry before parking (many add a simple fuel shut off switch) Ethanol will draw water and clog the carburetor other wise you will need a carburetor cleaning every couple of years.

Unfortunately right now I'm thinking you're going to have to push through it. For future I use a product called More shine Tire shine. You have to put it on while it's dry and then the other suggestion is to make sure your blower is the same temp as the outside. I have to park my tractor outside while it warms up for about a half hour to eliminate the clogging. The warm metal from it being inside will make the snow stick. Not sure if you store yours inside or not.

Thank you for making this video! I've got their 8" chipper, and love it. But I was having the same issues you were with the control arm continually kicking back into neutral. That's been my only issue so far with it, otherwise it's been flawless. I didn't realize that there was a "fix" for it. I had seen other people having the same "issue" if you want to call it that on their CZcams videos, and nobody addressed it, other than to mention that theirs kicked out of gear often as well. I thought that it was just something that I was going to have to live with. I put the chipper on my larger 73HP tractor, and then park my little BX next to the large tractor, with a wagon attached to it, then I just chip into the wagon that's attached to the BX, and then go dump the chips wherever I wanted to. I was considering bungee strapping the control arm to the BX so that it would stay in the infeed position, but that didn't seem like the safest idea to me. I'm SO glad that somebody (YOU) actually had enough common sense to contact Woodland Mills about this! I'm surprised that this issue, and it's "fix" isn't addressed in their owner's manual. I would hope that they'll update the owner's manual soon so that future buyers can easily fine a remedy for the problem. I've also got their stump grinder, and like it a lot. I don't know if you have a use for a stump grinder, but it you do, I highly recommend theirs. I just found your email address on your homepage, so I'm going to email the link to that guy's video to you there.

You're welcome, Jeff! I love the WM products and they make a solid chipper. Like you, I had watched a bunch of videos claiming to "fix" the issue but it wasn't working. One of the reasons I chose Woodland Mills is because people raved about their customer service. I reached out and they had a fix for me the same day. Great company indeed. I hope they add the "adjustment" to their manual as well as it seems to be a common issue coming straight from the factory. I would love to add a grinder at some point because I'm always trying to remove stumps and working with what I have but this would make it so much easier. Thanks for reaching out. I'll keep an eye out for your email. ~Dave

Mowing the lawn is a chore. Blowing snow is pure fun that you pretend is a chore.

The sole reason why I upgraded from an open station BX. Love it!

That wet snow was no match for that tractor. You did a great job cleaning your yard.
