#79 Your Tractor Isn't Big Enough: WC68 Feed it and Leave it!

  • Round 2 of chipping for Fall Cleanup. I've heard from many viewers that my tractor isn't "big" enough or "powerful" enough for the Woodland Mills WC68. I put it to the test and the results did not surprise me. Plus, a new slogan perhaps for Woodland Mills. See if it catches on. Thanks for watching!

    Good morning Dave.

    It was a great video Dave as usual 👍🏻, your B2650 is a perfect match to the WC68. I think I might rent a chipper next year. Have a great Monday buddy 👍🏻🙋🏼‍♂🙂

      Thanks Luc. I got sick of renting and towing. It should pay for itself in about 7 years. Have a great week.

    Hey Dave, I know what you mean about creating videos and the ups and downs. I also sometimes put a lot of effort in a video that will do very poorly and vice versa. Oh well, as long as you enjoy the process! And you weren't kidding, the chipper is AWESOME! Cheers, Alex!

      Thanks Alex. It was a frustrating day but decided to put it out there because it isn't always roses.

    Howdy Dave, absolutely, the hydraulic feed system is far better than a gravity feed system. Personally I would never buy a gravity feed chipper. I would think the only difference between your pto putting out 19.5 hp vs something much higher is the rate of speed the chipper performs at and not that it can't chip up the big stuff. As long as the rpm stays up at 540 it's going to chip up whatever you feed it. It just may have to be a bit slower. Have a great week!

      True, Paul. They all rotate at the same 540. It's a heavy wheel in there and once it gets going it's good. I'm guessing something really big might slow it down and cause the tractor PTO to slow but like you said, I just slow the infeed down. All is good and I'm super happy with the product.

      I agreed 100% on that Paul. I had a LX2610 and a Landpride FDR2684 rear finish mower. I have pretty flat ground and the 2610 would run it in low range only. I moved on to a LX3310 and it runs the mower in medium range with ease.

    I sure don’t see a problem with the tractor not being big enough. You can’t tell from the video that it is having any trouble with this task.

      It didn't. Even on the bigger pieces, I fed it and then looked at the rear PTO speed in the cab and it didn't move off 540.

    Looking into this chipper for my b2650. Looks like you have it hooked up via a 3pt quick hitch. Aside from the usual pto connection headache any watch outs? It is between this and a woodmaxx-8800

      @BeginnerforBSeries  Před měsícem +1

      No issues at all. If you have a quick hitch just make sure you do your measurements with it on that so you can cut the PTO shaft correctly. The Woodland Mills is awesome if you go with that one. You won't be disappointed. Good luck!

      @@BeginnerforBSeries did you need to use any kind of bushing kit on the chipper for the quick hitch connection?

      @@jameslewis5385 I did not. Fit perfect.
