Freewell sent me out these new lenses filters for the Osmo pocket 3. They didn't ask me for a review or any other content. I just decided to try them out in this fun video. I kinda like the Anamorphic lens as it'll allow you to do a wider 'cinematic' ratio shot. As it's a 1:1 ratio, it'll mean that you stretch the image from 3840 pixels to 4224. You won't really use it if you're shooting standard 16:9 ratio or narrower. It does lose a small bit of sharpness and introduces a slight green tint.
The wide lens is very similar to the existing lens from DJI so nothing new here really but you can add the ND filters on top which you couldn't do before. The macro lens is fun but won't give the average user that much unless you like filming flowers and insects! It forms the base for the wide lens so it'll need to be in place to get the wide lens to work.
Again, I find the ND's too strong. It's 8/32/128. If you're not that into slow shutter / timelapse photo, you'd be better off with a 4 / 8 / 16 as the Pocket needs quite a bit of light. You'll end up in high ISO's if shooting 60fps with the 8ND on a dull day.
Overall, these lenses are fun and don't cost that much considering there's 6 pieces included for the ballpark fee of €150.

I tried to make a Viral Horror - Here's what I learned.
Thanks for the video. Pocket 3's continuous focus is horrible. Such a let-down from what could be a brilliant little camera.
It’s not much of a budget lens if spending nearly $2,000 turns out to be a disappointment. I think I’ll stick with my RF 100-500 and if necessary,i will just get a 1.4x and enjoy better image quality over the extra 100mm reach. Thanks for your insight, not everyone will agree with you but you certainly raised some excellent points.
You deserve more subscribers , you are really informative and talented.
The image looks great but having had the Osmo Pocket 1 and losing all my filters, I'm not sure I'd invest 130€. How did you cut the background noise out - is that Davinci Resolve ? Pretty impressive.
That extra bit of width on the image is kinda nice, what do you guys think?
So here we are 8 months later, and although Canon still hasn't gotten off of their @$$ and made this lens more available, their are a LOT of folks out there, who have used, owned, and reviewed it. Seems to be really solid. I myself rented it for a week, and I'd say, it is > the Holy Grail for small bird photography. It is going to be SO much more useful than any $12K or $16K Big white prime, ever could be. I'm just curious if you still think it was a good decision to cancel your order ? Or if you might reorder it ?
As I said in response to others, I would buy this lens if I had more spare cash. But right now with the C400 and R5 MK2 coming out, it's hard to justify spending nearly 3k on a lens that won't get me much better results than what I have. Birding is mostly a hobby and I don't do it as often as regular camerawork which is my vocation. In future, I'd like to maybe look at getting this lens but it would be a video centric purchase.
@@HuFilms believe me, that is a VERY good answer ! :)
Do you have a shortlist in mind when shooting this??
Not as such. Just one or two good angles.
Does it wirelessly connect to a phone?
You can connect the receiver to your phone via the headphone cable.
I was curious this wholllle time. How do you sync your mixset with the video??
This is done in the edit. Bring in your video file(s) then align up the audio. Very easy once you know how.
No thanks, I'm sticking with my Pyxis preorder.

Hi Hugh, Thanks for another fantastic video. Because of your review of the Pocket 3, I bought one to use for my pilgrimage. I have just finished walking just over 1,000km on the Camino Frances, Finisterre & Muxia. Brilliant camera & mic system, so very grateful for your advice. Best wishes (& Buen Camino) Gavin Ayre

Nice work, it's important to maintain ones ethics. Swag interferes with that process, the human animal being what it is. I did a short on ethics in photography recently - warned of pink eye for photographers using dirty 'lenses'.
Interesting, I'd like to see that.

About the moza slypod.. Iv seen just positive reviews but i was still concerned if it would wobble because you know it SEEMS TO ME THAT IT WILL. i was getting into product videography at that time and with s probe lens ANY wobble will show. Got the product, used it for 1 min 30 sec and sent it back , it was unbearable with the probe lens. Good product, nobody mentioned this.. got an edelkrone slider instead, everytime I had any problem they helped me out instantly.
Interesting and thanks for your comment. You obviously didn’t see my review then? I must contact edelchrone and see if they’ll let me review something! 😂

Your strait honesty is so so appreciated, just thank you. Always a pleasure to watch your work.
Thanks a lot for the nice comment and so good to hear that.
Thank you so much Hugh. Incredible video, and it help me so much after to try understand so much times the bad translation in Portugueses and English of the Instruction PDF download from the Zhiyun web site, an huge catastrophe. You really help me. Kind regards and everything good for you.
Thanks a lot!
Did not help me actually stabilize the video. I could see in the short footage when you were actually driving you had the same issue when you started to get to speed. BAD STABILIZATION. Why is it so damn hard to find this information. The in phone features do nothing to combat this. micro jerking. its horrible.
You're using your phone at the end of the day and if it's hard-mounted to a car, you're gonna get vibration. You're not filming a movie where you need high end pro stabilisation systems. Maybe switch to a modern action cam if you're so hell bent on getting in-cam stabilized footage.
Always love your videos, Hugh. Just one audio suggestion. Lav mics, in general, sound really "dead" to my ears. Clear, but dead. Since you filming in such a beautiful location, why not mix in some of the ambient audio, too? Since you have the Osmo pocket 3, you can always have a second camera running and just get the audio off of that. I think it would just add another dimension to your Vlogs. Hope that helps, and look forward to your next video. Mark in Marin County, California
I actually fully agree with you and thanks for saying it, this video was a casual affair to start out with and I'm kinda tiring of the lav sound if I'm honest. Some of the closer shots to camera had nicer sound from the on cam mic but I couldn't mix it in effectively. I think I'm going to bring the Sennheiser 416 next time. Audio is everything!
@@HuFilms Yes, I noticed that too, that the audio from the onboard camera mics sounded pretty nice and more "natural." And by the way, if in your travels you ever come out to San Francisco, way out here in California, I will take you out for some good Mexican food. Or In-N-Out Burger, if you prefer. Or both!!!
Funny, i subscribed after one of those sigma 18-35 vids. Anyway, good video, cheers.

@@HuFilms Ahh man, we would have so much fun together.. if only you were in Québec. I’m currently making tests for a horror short myself. I’d love to show you some stills of the look!
Top stuff. Integrity wins in the end.
Totally!
there is nothing wrong with giving impression and providing footage before a camera is released to the stores to give first impression , sure there is some marketing involved as company's have designed it for certain segment , but its not like reviewers must say this is the best camera on earth period or something silly like that. many youtubers who are affiliated with brands often provide educational material ,
It's a hugely important thing for buyers. Otherwise they only get initial information from the company and stores. Yes, you obviously have to listen with some judgement that they likely have a good relationship with a company, but they also dispel a lot of the rumors going around.
I agree with you here. But lots of manufacturers send stuff out for review as their main marketing method. I’m referring to cheaper accessories than cameras such as mics and lights etc.
So who do you think "I" am? Why do you assume I would do this ... I have close to 500 videos posted on CZcams and only one "product placement": czcams.com/video/RA790XPMc8s/video.htmlsi=8rNUi4XQM_-g1ypt&t=50
Nice video. I have a small channel and recently have been contacted by a company who make AI gimbals and offered me a free gimbal in exchange of the review. It was very tempting as it's a first time that any brand wanted to work with me but after a serious thought, I refused the offer because first of all I don't know much about the gimbals and secondly I can't do any reviews in which everything I say is not my own.
I think in this case you should accept and review. You’ve nothing to lose really.
@@HuFilms I thought it would be not fair to the viewers to make the watch a scripted review.
Thanks Hugh! You shared so many good things in this one!
Cheers Josh, trying to do more of this stuff.
@@HuFilms I'm here for it!
@@HuFilms Lots of You Tubers give the same reviews on new product and don't know how to properly review or work that new camera. We know the GH7 is great and the Z6 III is great but oh no the C400 is just ok. Watch the reviews. Even You Tubers that commented in response to your OP video are doing exactly what you say they shouldn't do.
Great advice and thank you for sharing! I will take your points on board and try to apply them to my channel.
No probs, thanks man!
Well Hugh good points, but look at it that way. The benq thing may attract few as*holes like me who think that you are professional and not knowing about calibration doesn't make much of a sense to me, you've sold that BenQ monitor and you could use that money to buy something like that DJI pocket 3... Its probably worth getting few uncomfortable comments, rather than do mics for 130 sitting on your shelf 😉 I think ppl in general if they have the money should buy stuff which is interesting to them for reviews and then just sell it. If some product videos taking you a day or 2 to do, you could also get paid job and have money for things you actually want to support because you like them and see some sens in doing the review for them.
Good points man, and I agree with you. I guess it's about being selective really, isn't it? I'm definitely gonna put more thought into it from here on in. Thanks for the nice comment.
Thanks for your video. I was torn between this or the Insta360 Go 3S. Ended up ordering this one as I think I'll be more happy with the video quality and storage capacity.
I think it's a better vlogging camera but the Insta is a beast.
Mirrorless? Hell I’m selling my Sony FX9 for the C400. It is everything I need and dreamt of in an extremely compact body. This is the closest you come to an Arri Mini LF for the common man.
You're doing the right thing bro.
@@HuFilms would you care to explain a little more why in your opinion? :) I'm a highly undecisive person lol.
The GH7 has Arri log, even closer lol!! m43 tho...
This comment section is mostly “video” shooters it seems not production filmmakers or cinematographers You can’t compare DSLr / Mirror less cameras to cinema cameras. When you have a 1st and 2nd AC - Multi dialog channels / sound techs and cinema glass you need this type of form factor. This isn’t a videographer camera. It’s a production camera. :) 😊
OK, so the C400 isn't aimed at videographers then. Gotcha 👍
I'd say this is squarely aimed at the solo/run and gun/lower budget shooters. The RF mount, AF, and 12,800 base ISO are huge tools for run and gun and low budget shooting. If you have budget for 1st and 2nd ACs then you have a gaffer and a lighting package and there are other cameras that will get you a much better image. It's weird that you are simultaneously talking down to "video" shooters so pretentiously yet thinking that this camera is good enough to bring on a high budget production. Very cool camera for the person who needs it.
Gorgeous actress, stupid movie. Let her be in something more intelligent, please.
OK, lets see what you come up with.
@@HuFilms How about a movie where the female lead does everything right and still ends up dead. Give her the confidence of an adult, and the naïveté of someone who’s never been a victim before. But don’t make her look like a total airhead; nobody’s going to care that she gets killed if it looks like she deserves it.
Terrible
It isn't really. It's actually quite good for a zero budget home movie. It was just a fun project.
To the ones complaining about the c400 not having still capabilities.. higher end cinema cameras are not for you. Move on.
Judging by your own channel, I think you should move on, shut up or at the very least drop the condescending tone.
People complained about that? Haha
I think is a great move from Canon too. A game changer
It definitely looks good, and I can see why you'd be tempted from the R5 or R6. As a C300 mkiii user I'll be holding off for a while, but there's a lot to admire with the C400.
I own a C300 mkiii as well and I don’t feel like I want to change. DGO is a game changer
Nice to hear your thoughts on the C400. As you were sat down, is there not a Canon app to set manual focus? Oh well, just proves that no AF system is perfect.
Yeah, I had the focus rectangle centred in the image. I should have placed it over the headrest.
You know the funny thing is I've been watching your channel since I bought the R5C and last month I ended up picking up the C70 for my second cam. It was a really hard decision that I had to roll the dice on. I only had 2,000 bucks to spend but after I brought the R6 Mark II home I realize I did not want to spend $2,000 bucks on a camera I didn't love. Now I have a C70 and an R5C and I am still in the beginning stages of getting used to the C70. I can say the battery life alone has made me fall in love. However not having a full frame sensor in 2024 wasn't a great idea for me to purchase.
Thanks for sharing. The C70 will always be a great camera but yeah, the crop sensor is soul destroying when you bought expensive full frame glass. Save your money and get one of these next year.
32-bit float could not be added in firmware because you’d need to have two physical A-D converters… one for the high amplitude (Loud stuff) and one for the low amplitude (quiet stuff). It’s like trying to add DGO after the fact. That’s down to the sensor itself. But… you could add support for the camera to understand 32-bit float files. Wouldn’t really help if you can’t get the audio in that way unless they did it through the USB-C port some how.
Yes, I get you. Silly of me to even think for a second that it could. I'm not overly technical on this and 32 FP is new to me, I'm only using it a month or two. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for taking the time to create this impression video Hugh!
I got one of these for my bowling content. No matter what I use tripod wise when the ball hit the lane it bumps even being way back so I figure go with this and maybe it will be strong enough to not notice that little bump
Thats a challenging shot. Maybe get a bean bag or something to rest the camera on.
@HuFilms I just tested it out last night and it's perfect. I think my phones was working too hard and that's what I was seeing was a frame glitch type deal caise there's no steady shot on my phone. The pocket 3 was amazing. Way better zoom in quality to get up close to the pins. Very pleased
I would never switch my mirrorless for a camera without ibis and my camera has to be able to take high quality pictures as well. Mirrorless rules!
If you're referring to my tagline in the thumb, that's a 'figure of speech' and the point in which I refer to mirrorless owners going for this, I feel it would be the next step. It would be a dumb move to sell all your photo cameras if you're into photography but this camera would make life easier for a lot of us filmmakers who use the mirrorless cameras on a daily basis.
A no brainer. Will pair perfect with my C70. The FF RF we've been waiting for!
Completely agree.
I'm the exact same. Have the c70 that I love but haven't invested in RF glass because it's super 35! Can't wait for this.
It’s a DCI sensor which does not offer the height for 3:2 open gate.
I thought that but the full size on the CVP website says it's 4000 or so high. Confusing!
@@HuFilms I looked it up on B&H here in the US where the specification sheet says the “effective” resolution is 19MP at 6008 x 3170. So the sensor wafer may be 4300 pixels tall, but Canon have limited the number of pixels supported by the triple-base ISO circuitry. Adding the intermediate (3200) ISO option will likely be this camera’s super power for a long time to come. I will be shocked if any other manufacturer accomplishes the same any time soon-if ever.
Your R5C is struggling a bit here with AF
Yeah, I forgot to move the box over to the headrest if the chair. It's mostly OK though.
I think it doesn't like the hands. But looks better than my old c100
@@HuFilms You are lucky, that you are not an italian, lol! We would never know your face 😂. Just don`t point with your hands to the lens...
