You didnt understand Ulysses at all. The Old World Blues scientists mention him too. Its been a while since i played and im not the most articulate, but Lonesome Road is probably my favourite one. Especially since the theme is about history and your relationship to it, whether you are aware of it or not. He gets angry at people who dont know their own history(including the MT scientists) Because of the impact that people can have on the entire world for better or worse, so people have the responsibility and obligation to remember their past and learn from it. He knows who you are because he used to work for Caesar and was following you before you got shot. He was supposed to report his findings about the supply route and town-which, only exisited because YOU were the only one brave enough to walk those roads. (You were kind of a legend tbh) He didnt report it though. Even though his life travels convinced him humanity wasnt worth it, that HE as a single person couldnt change the world for the better or worse, that one person didnt matter. Instead, he saw what you did whether you knew it or not. Simply by you walking that route, you gave rise to a huge thriving community. And you made him HOPE again... THEN, you took it away. Your actions whether you were aware or not wiped that place and all those people away. You showed him that one person can make a difference, for better AND worse. He blames you for their lives and deaths, aswell as giving him hope then destroying it. All because you didnt know the place you occupied or the role you played in history. That humanity is doomed because people like you can have so much influence and power over the world without even realising it, but cant learn the lessons of history because you arnt even paying attention to it. Obviously hes emotional since your character could just say you got shot in the head and have no memories at all and therefore are not the same person. Hed still probably hate you though. Because... STORY. Partly the reason he cares is because hes done a lot of bad things to people and justified it as "it doesnt matter to the world, my actions dont make a difference" You taught him one persons actions do matter. So he has to contend with what you did and what he did. He thinks its wrong that people can have such a huge impact on the world and be oblivious to it. Chances are, if you didnt get shot, you would never have guessed it was you that allowed those nukes to go off. Then his plotline of anger and resentment towards you would make more sense. "Who are you, that do not know your history" Iirc, With these words he broke the mind-wipe-loop programming in the MT scientists and allowed them to make progress againsts Mobius. He's thankfull to you because of what you taught him, but hates you, because of what you taught him. Especially 'how' you taught him. Its a bit badly written at the very end, but i can overlook that for the journey we got. The theme is history, there is quite a few little stories scattered about the place, including his tapes, which iirc give you dialog options with him if you find all the ones before each conversation for a little more background story. - Also, we spend all our time in fallout discovering other peoples history, their stories after they've died. I thought it was kinda fitting and poetic that it also includes the story of the 'you' that died. Lonesome road is part of a story of just another dead person. You. One of your stories.

if they decided the whole point of vault 76 is to conduct an experiment on how the dwellers will behave when they're released into the wasteland in a VR simulation, the whole game could make much more sense

I just completed a playthrough, and i interpreted Ulysses story as the courier had helped to establish the city that became the divide, a region that showed promise beyond the ncr, leigon, or vegas and he blames the courier for being 'careless' with his delivery job choice the one time it mattered most and effected the most people. That even if the courier didn't know and had no way of knowing, they are still technically the last hand to touch the package, and in his mind need to answer for it. The idea being one person can make a nation, and in a moment, without their knowledge, they can break it to. Ulysses said those words at some point and then later it is echoed by general oliver at the dam if you choose the yes man ending, at some point he asks you "do you really think you can make a nation? Set up trade routes?etc etc" which goes full circle to the idea that before the game the courier had done so before, and if they do it again but with vegas this time, they must be sure not to repeat what happened at the divide. It also establishes that the courier is already someone who has done noteworthy things even before the player takes control, justifying the courier being someone who does noteworthy things

I am disappointed with their decisions regarding the NCR. The NCR has been with Fallout from the beginning in some form or another, and to just have it reduced to irrelevance offscreen seems like a bad decision. Why not just have the show take place somewhere else? Nothing else on the West Coast from the previous games made it into the show, anyway. The Followers aren't there, there are no rangers, there's no Junktown, Hub, Necropolis ... it's disappointing.

For anyone not in the know, it's occupied by the remnants of the Secret Service, at the behest of the Federal Treasury. After a lot of patented Vault turmoil (and after losing a chunk of their gold) they seek out gold to both refill the treasury and keep the reserve stocked for hypothetical inflation. If they managed to grow their faction's numbers after the events of 76, its possible they're still around in some capacity. Maybe after all these years, they've made it well known what they're looking for. So any trader that knows if he buys that gold bar for 10k, he can probably send it in a caravan and flip it for more with these gold crusaders. I love replaying New Vegas more than Fallout 4 because New Vegas gives you more freedom and doesn't bog you down with side quests and tons of random generated encounters that just fill up your bags immediately. Much easier to actually have a unique adventure in New Vegas even if you've already seen everything and talked to everyone. New Vegas is much more of a sandbox.

Voyager had some rough episodes, particularly the first few seasons, but it was nothing compared to Enterprise. That show was so awful it nearly killed Star Trek.

Hmm, I’m pretty sure a game called Dragon Realms had a crippled limb system (and far more detailed than Fallout is, even though this day), but that game was an expansive text-based (MS-DOS?) game. Dunno if that counts. I was like, 8, when I played so around 1996/1997 (it’s been around since 1996). That predates Fallout 1 by about a year.🤷‍♂️
