I really l hope you enjoy this new style of video! I am very anxious about everyone’s thoughts. All in all this is a million subscriber video, a “Stardew Is A Nightmare” game review, and a satirical view on Google and CZcams as a whole.
OKAY so I don’t talk a lot about Stardew Valley exactly. I actually had pretty lofty goals from the start, I wanted to compare the Joja corporation in Stardew Valley to Google, drawing analogues from that to my life, while also reviewing the game. But I had to say COME ON MATT keep it simple for the first of these videos.
Overall though new style is easier to make too, I started with a Stardew Valley review to keep it simple but I have filmed my next video too (a Fallout 1 review) which will be out by the end of the month. I’ve also written two other videos, including a Fallout 2 review next. This new style will hopefully let me reach my goal of monthly review videos I have been trying to achieve for a while.

Pretty fine game.
But pretty boring.
It's a farming simulator. Each action has a 2 second animation
And if you miss, which is extremely easy to do, you lose energy which means you cannot perform any more actions when you run out.
Making money is as easy as picking up random stuff you find on the ground and selling it to become a billionaire.
Progress in the game is slow. Very slow. Extremely slow.
You have to play through a few in-game years in order to really experience it in its entirety. -which is not easy to do.
It's a farming simulator. What do you expect? It's farming.
And i want Tayne! Other people have problems too!

"It's a farming simulator. Each action has a 2-second animation" I would really love to know which animations you're talking about, even the watering animation only takes a second or so. While the eating animation might make that quota you don't eat things often enough for it to be annoying.

You have tons of energy to spend every day and you can eat food to regain lost energy if you really need it.
"Making money is as easy as picking up random stuff you find on the ground and selling it to become a billionaire." Sure, running around and picking flowers might get you around a hundred G, so you'd reach a billion dollars in... about 20 thousand years?

You can mine, fish, farm, pick flowers, chop wood, complete jobs for money, grow cave mushrooms, refine ore, base build, decorate your house, fight enemies, engage with the town, RELAX, donate to the museum, set up fish traps (which is different from fishing) or try to complete the community house. Giving you everything right away would overwhelm the player and make the game harder to play. I'd also disagree that the progress is slow at all, the game seems to know when to introduce a new component or thing to keep the game fresh. Also Also, experiencing the whole game in a year isn't even true! There are events and things that only happen in later years! Plus you probably didn't grab every summer-related object on your first summer.
It's a farming simulator... and a mining simulator, and an adventure simulator, and town simulator, and a fishing simulator, and a foraging simulator, set in a fantasy world, set in wartime... uhh but yeah pretty self-explanatory if you ask me.
This is the essence of an open-minded, educated, satirical critique. Really enjoyed it. Absobutely subscribed.

Im so excited for you, you get to watch his Half Life Alyx video for the first time. I couldn't stop rewinding it because he made too many great points. It was like I couldn't figure out how to put it into words, I just thought it was the best game I have ever played but didn't quite know why. He knows why, and the video is incredible.

You should check out some comedy stuff some time. It's kind of like this but it is created in such a way that it causes an involuntary emotional response, typically laughter. Much more satisfying than annoyed groans.

A lot of this resonates with me. Building up these lessons over the last 10 years has led to me having a channel I’m proud of! However I’ve started editing for my girlfriend who’s a streamer (Dumbbwitch), and starting a new channel from scratch is really tough. I am a creator of things myself, and i struggle with it, as do most people who make art, but the fact that the greatest gift you have gotten from us is new found confidence in both A. your comedy chops, and B. your passion for VR and gaming makes me so damn happy I was here for the ride. I show everyone your Half Life Alyx review, I go around saying how genius Valve is for not letting you drop your guns, for just teleporting you if you struggle with the ladder. I don't actually tell people those were your brilliant points, because sometimes I like to LIVE A LIE. You're easily my favorite gaming youtuber, because you embrace the art aspect more than anyone else. God I can't wait for the next VR title that says NOT in the title, I will definitely bust. Crazy how much that says about you as an artist. Most games, GOOD games even, are nightmares. Only godly games are not. I particularly love how long your takes are, you don't use jump cuts as a crutch, you use them to remove your ceiling fan for a totally middling headcrab joke. Just like we love it.

Hey UpIsNotJump. I've been subscribed to you for a while, and even though your new video style is somewhat different, I really enjoy the scits and costumes you use. In your Hitman is a Nightmare video, I found the scit where you pretended to be a hitman and dressed up in a government official uniform thing at the beginning to be really hooking and interesting. I may not be a million-subscriber youtuber, but my advice is to keep up the costume skits. I think they're really funny and the cinematography is honestly really good. Congrats!

Just wanted to say you always made me laugh and had a really creative / artistic perspective to put on, which hooked me onto your videos. Its why I subbed long before the 1 mil mark, but I had no doubt you would get there if you kept at it. Your Bob Ross machinima's were amazing, as well as your deeper dives into how they were made, as well as understanding how the Bethesda game engine (doesnt) work for different varieties of uses. I mean, it does, you just gotta give it crutches and a few shots of morphine first.
