One should not have to be so thrilled that a simple McDonald’s drive thru experience went well. It could not be easier in 2024 to order even if deaf. I hate that it’s usually a struggle for you. Also I’d say use the mobile app but you have to actually say the code at the speaker usually which doesn’t help you.

He just wants to be able to go through the drive through for the same reasons anyone else would. 🫤🥰 I don’t know where you live I live in NJ and when we've gone to say Burger King you order than they’ll sometimes ask you to pull up into the yellow lines than someone will come out and give you your food. We’ve done it many times.. But we’re able to just speak our orders than pull up into the lines and they bring it out to us. So the ppl working there need to learn to be more patient and be more aware there many many other ppl on this planet that are different everyone is different in their own way. And some because of this have to deal with things and do certain stuff in order to do that. It should be a part of their training to be more aware and possibly classes to learn sign language. Or maybe there's an app they can ask them to get and learn sign language from if they are unable to do the classes for them to learn it. Maybe you can text than hand it to them they read your text type what they want to say hand it back do it like that. If your comfortable doing so. And then if they ask you to pull up between the lines after that if it works for your order that’s a normal thing like I said we’ve done that a many times. So that part is a reg. thing that sometimes happens.. Nothing against you sweetheart.😊🫶Take care and I hope you have an Awesome day/night.

The Starbucks near my school has a drive-thru, which was constructed only a few years ago. The barista taking orders doesn’t stand right there - it’s a mic/speaker setup instead. There’s also a camera aimed at the driver while they’re ordering, which I thought was a security/safety measure, and a huge screen that displays your order (text) as the barista enters it. I noticed recently that the screen also displays camera footage of the barista. I’m used to drive-thrus with audio only, so I thought it was a nice quirk to see the person you’re talking to, but nothing more. Idk whether Starbucks set up 2-way video specifically for accessibility, but it’s certainly has that benefit! People who need to lip read can now do so. 👏👏👏

It's bad enough to mess up an order. But to assume that you are faking it is just rudeness at the highest level! I may be watching by video but I can tell you aren't faking. I am so sorry behalf of all people in customer service for you being treated this way. I really hope that McDonald's sees this video and does something about their employees at this location. You should not be so used to this. My heart hurts. Sorry again. Edit, also what if it was someone from Headquarters undercover testing their customer service????? I can almost guarantee they would be breathing down the Manager's neck, possibly firing them. They would be ashamed for the company.

Worked at a airport. I learned to say some words essential for my job in sign but mostly I would use a tablet or phone to communicate. Once on a flight I was seated next to a Chinese elderly couple using sign language and gesticulate. I was at the corridor and tried to explain the staff the meal and drinks they choose. Yet it was hard to explain what was included or not. We ended up getting every variation, twice only paying once ( like both white and red wine , vegetarian and chicken meal) So much fun, I ended up watching their holiday pictures and they had a love for waterfalls. We discussed a lot without speaking or understanding each others tongue ( i am not asian) Its about motivation really

I found y'all's account in the middle of the night and love watching your videos. I had a Deaf friend growing up and I hated not ever having the local recourses to learn ASL. I have gotten multiple recourses now and hope to start attending classes soon. You both are an awesome couple and I hope you live happy, and fun filled lives.

While he is signing how are we supposed to understand what he is signing. Before the 2nd world war my mum worked in a childrens home for the deaf and they couldnt speak either. She learnt sign language and tried teaching me. I did pick up a few things up but have completely forgotten now.

It's unfortunate that more companies don't take care of people with disabilities as efficiently as others. I am disabled in a different way and find difficulty on a regular basis! On a final note, I would just like to say that the man in this video is absolutely gorgeous 🙂

I’m still learning ASL but I’ve learned enough so when I’m a bit older I’ll work at Starbucks for a little bit because I want to practice my ASL on deaf people and not just my family. (My family is learning ASL but we all can hear fine)

Awesome channel. I worked in the catering business when I was young and I have been to over 250 weddings. Less is more. Make the day simple and you will remember it so much better. Don't plan your wedding based on what you have seen in the past. Do your own thing. Have a simple ceremony and then have a really NICE sit down dinner for you and the guests, and a reasonable number, like 60 guests. You can even stand in the living room and say your vows, and have your guests stand around you. Ceremony at home can be so elegant and pretty. You and the guests will enjoy and remember the day as special. And change up the rules on prepping for the day. If you want to see each other's clothes ahead of time, that is fine. Do what you want. And some men that work with tools will get the rubber wedding band to wear while working, you can get them at any hardware store, then wear the good ring the rest of the time when not working. Emphasis on easy for you two, pretty for the guests to witness, and then sit down and enjoy good food and fellowship. Huge fancy weddings are chaotic and no one remembers much about the event. Less is more. Happy wishes for your life together. You are both awesome.

It would be useful for us hearing subscribers to have sub text so that when you sign, we know what you’re saying, and we can learn. I’ve learned a few signs just from watching her and hearing her speak and sign at the same time.

I have a disability too, but because mine's mild, people think I 'play it up'. I even overheard someone say "I think she's a bit of a fraud." at work. I can't say for certain if she was talking about me, or just bitching about someone else but in the moment I thought it about me because I hear bitching everywhere I've ever worked. I'd like to see how frustrated THEY feel being a post university graduate stuck with a cleaning job AND a mild learning disability.

You should look for drive-thrus that have video and a person that signs.

Many years ago, I was working at Blockbuster. I finished assisting a woman and noticed a couple on the other side of the store and thought golden opportunity. When the couple came up I signed, "Did you find everything you're looking for?". The expressions on their faces were great surprise. They said, "You sign?" I signed yes. I assisted them, then they left. My boss informed me that every time they came, they looked for me. If I wasn't there, they left. Another time it was an elderly man. I ended up having 3 customers that were "MY" very own regulars. This went on until they closed.

In Australia McDonalds abuse Deaf people and do not help when calling out orders I waited 45 min for my order then was abused by the manager.

I got married in mexico off resort beach the best decision ever made! If we had wedding here in Minnesota would been high $30k barn rental was $9,500 alone just crazy how expensive we got married in mexico with 26 people with us gave people huge discount to come Mexico with us was totally worth it paid less than $11k and use rest money to save was worth it!

I have to say, this video is amazing! Ty, I just started a job with someone who is deaf and didn't know how to approach it, my colleagues who've been at the job for a while either with try to sign or write in a whiteboard. I don't know how to appropriately gesture, or if he reads lips. I'm still trying to find a good approach. I just wanted to express my gratitude and admiration for this video, not only for the I sight but also the love and chemistry between you both! I'm realizing now that those who are deaf are the most liveliest. Ty guys for this!
