Alfa Romeo Busso V6 engine stabiliser mount replacement with polly bushes
In this episode I remove and replace the bushes in the engine stabiliser mount on my Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 V6. Instead of fitting a complete new engine mount, I decided to press out the original bushes and fit Powerflex polly bushes.

    What about just wrapping the pin with teflon tape? Have you tried that? I have some harder Teflon tape that has an adhesive side that I'm going to try. Adds .006" or .16mm to the diameter.

    Aware this vid is 3 years old, but the reason it is initially runny is so it is thin enough to run into crevices, such as between panels that are spot welded together, where it will then cure.

    Amazing car and amazing video! I'm planning on buying one, but having kids the question of rear seats usability really is bugging me, I can't get a 2 seater... You seem to be one of the few showing actual passengers in the rear seats! Could you please share additional details? How short does anyone sitting in the front be to leave some room for rear passengers? In that case, how tall can they be?

    @ 6:10 I can absolutely see how "spot on" it is. So...what to take away from this is how precisely your "bush" doesn't fit. If it were a worthy challenge I'd run 12 days of laps to test your PTFE(Teflon tape) against black polyurethane bushings or.....never mind. Who am I kidding? I'm waiting outside LOWE'S to get the jump on PTFE....that's what it's called right? Just wanna buy the right band-aid.

  • @arturozarate1752
    @arturozarate1752 Před 26 dny

    I'll let some in on a well kept secret.....if there's ANY articulation expected use spherical ends. Polyurethane has some give, but it's best for up and down movement. That's the lamest of terminology I can express. Delrin is a far better material, but it requires precision fitment to last and work as intended. It too only allows up and down movement. Any side loading and you're done before the checkered flag mate. Ok....that may be a bit harsh...

    Excellent guide. At 8:14 you mention a little overlap of ptfe tape on the stainless insert. I watched a video earlier where a guy in the U.S. gives a similar demonstration. He states no overlap on the stainless insert. I have no good reason to doubt either of you, but can you see it from a viewers point of view? Which option should I go with? I think his concern is that it may bunch up. I would think bunching would be more likely to happen with an exposed edge. I kind of answered my own question there. 😂 The video is titled "How to Fix Polyurethane Bushing Squeak Permanently." The segment starts around the two minute mark.
