I missed the last loop over the top before the needle. That was the 1st part of this video. Checking that loop I found that was my problem cause. It was jamming under in the bobbin area and hard to get the needle to move like your 2nd issue illustrated. Rerouting properly was the fix! Thank you!

hi, thank you for this great video! i like the singer 4423 as well, but mine has a foot control cable, that is way too short to sit and sew ergonomically: only 125 cm from the machine to the footcontrol. how long is yours?

Thank you, I am about to get into the industry this fall. I am currently involved in Vacuum Cleaners. I don't mind working with the machines but I blame my job on my heart infection I had. I have been really contemplating quitting since then. I just don't want to fix vacuums any more. This kind of work is what I am into. Nothing dirty at all. pretty cool little machines!!

As an industrial sewing machine mechanic for 20yrs I've only ever used Castrol Hyspin AWS10 light hydraulic oil for many years. Never had an issue ever on any machine industrial or domestic. Never use 3 in 1 oil. It has a vegetable component which gums up (goes sticky/hard over time). I've had to unstick many machines (mostly Domestic) over the years for this problem which sometimes requires complete soaking in diesel to free up machine.

In our brother sewing machine is not stitch properly what is the problem.

Has all the basic stitches and stretch-stitch for elastics. I'm considering Singer Heavy Duty 4452, as I will need to sew through leather and jeans occasionally. But I heard Singers break a lot (local sewing repair shop told me). Any suggestions pretty please?

How do you fix tension if the the tension is getting old and wearing out?

My decorative stitch knob doesn’t turn. Neither does the reverse lever work. I took it all apart, but was afraid to try to move the gears as they are plastic.

Hi, I have a sailrite machine, and once or twice on a run of stitches I get a loop on the bottom side, the top and bottom stitches look good other than the odd looped bottom stitch, please help, looked at the timing and needle position, and is perfect.?

I've worked as a sewing machine operator in 2 different factories. The factories I've worked for used compressed air to clean the machines several times a week. We just had to be careful not to let the compressed air hit the pool of machine oil underneath the machine or we'd have a huge mess to clean up.

Geez, just go pick up a 1970s era Kenmore 158 with all metal gears and a 1.2 amp motor for $50. Now THAT is "heavy duty."

You can put a drop of vinegar on the metal you want to test. If it bubbles, it's a magnesium alloy.

I got an old pfaff 487 and i'm installing a servo motor from sewmaq. Where do i screw to groundig cable onto that is coming from my sewing machine ?

You've just captured my rapt attention. I have a Husqvarna Viking sewing machine just like yours. A lot of bird nesting . My one issue right now is that in threading the upper part , is that I've been threading the Viking much as you do with the exception of after coming from the take-up lever I've been drawing the thread against that little curved wire then down to the needle . Only to get birdnesting . Very frustrating. To the sewing machine store I go . Figured I would have to ask for a cleaning. $ . I was helped by a very gracious woman who threaded my machine drawing the thread from spool to the first curved like thing , DOWN to the small guide , which I thought was used in needle threading the bobbin - up to the second hook thing , then down to the slot in the machine, up to the take up arm then down through BETWEEN the small curved wire and the machine case then slid the thread into a clip then to the needle. I see by your tutorial that the thread over the first guide then down to the small guide ( notch on the top and notch on the bottom ) then up to the second guide then down to the space for the take up arm was wrong. I'm assuming that the final small clip however was correct. I have the owners manual, and the technical illustration only shows half of that . Will follow for more tutorials on Husqvarna Viking machines. My machine seems to be older than yours , but identical. If you address the issues I've brought, it should be most helpful. I love my Singer Heavy Duty machine, but the tension seems to have gone...something's wrong and even on the highest number there's no tension. How do i repair it? Can i get another tension unit spmehow? I live in a country where these things are mostly not available.

You should make a video of the type of needles to use with what material. You will get lots of hits and help a lot of people. 🎉

An advantage to the computerized machines that was not mentioned is that many are universal voltage. Something to be aware of.

if you have a 206/306 can u mod them to be walking foot machine ive looked at an old 31k 47 with a walking kick foot i rekan the parts or simliar part cud be fitted ???

No need to ever change pulleys or belts on a servo motor, just turning the speed dial on the servo motor does everything you need. Servo motors are only around $100 these days and you will wonder why you didn't switch sooner!!!
