Thank you for this video. My bobbin stopper has been loose for nearly three years, and I was finally able to fix it and learn what went wrong.
I found the nut by turning the machine upside down and gently shaking it. Hopefully, that didn't create any new problems.

Hello! I hope you had a joyful Easter. I have been in my sewing room all day because the grandkids were here yesterday for our Easter feast. Now, I have my feet up, mending my blue jeans and watching you! Very enjoyable video! I hope you have a great week ahead! Thank you for posting and your time.

Thank you so much for sharing your ideas how to fix the stopper. I oiled the machine and drop the piece hook into the machine. I hard time fixing first. After I listened to your explanation I fixed in minutes.

Just goes to show that the sewing machine manufacturers need to have a lot more detail and instructions in their manuals. My old Singer 2638 had very little detail on anything.

  • @Midlife_Manical_Mayhem

THANK YOU! yep. i did it. i was trying to give my mother in law's machine a good cleaning because she did not have a clue about it. unfortunately, i only had a part of a clue. lol. i THINK i can get it back together, because i do not want to spend over $100 for someone else to laugh while they do it.

I just had to rip my 4452 apart. I don't store stuff the right way, my bobbin winder shaft got rust on it. Anyways after taking it apart, cleaning the rust off, we are back in business!

The moral of this story is - Never loosen a screw on a sewing machine unless you know what you're doing! I can attest to that because I was trying to clear a jamb on my old Bernina, unscrewed the thread guide at the top of the needle and the hook fell inside the machine never to be found again, lol. I opened the case, shook it all around multiple times - I can't hear it so it must have firmly grabbed somewhere inside that I cannot see :(

Found that out myself. In addition to the nut that must have fallen off my bobbin winder stopper, I remember removing a long screw that also disappeared in the void and no amount of shaking has produced either.

I have question: Do all machines have a automatic shutoff on the bobbin winder? My Singer would just get bogged down when the bobbin was full, but never click back to disengage the bobbin winder.

Most of them do, yours might be a clutch type.

    • @seffssweetsstitches2897
      @seffssweetsstitches2897 Před 2 lety +1

It's definitely not a clutch, my other sewing machine is, so I know the difference. I think the Singer is just a bit jenky, but figured I would ask.

Next to the stitch dial, there's a tiny hole with a zigzag picture.
    What does that control?

I have a Janome HD5000. It appears to have a fixed bobbin winder stopper unless I am not seeing how to adjust it as it would be beneficial for me to be able to adjust it. Otherwise, thank you for sharing. ❤️🇨🇦🙏

My bobbin winder stopper is fixed and does not turn/twist like this one does. I believe it is causing the uneven and pyramid shaped bobbin winding where all the thread is wound at the bottom of the bobbin.
How do I fix uneven bobbin winding and stop the pyramid from forming?
My zigzag and decorative stitches skip stitches or just do the straight stitch instead of the zigzag/decorative stitch. May you please do a more detailed/focused video on fixing the hook timing and zigzag/decorative stitch problems.
