King of the Road - Roger Miller (Cover)
I hope you enjoy this double bass and guitar cover I did of Roger Miller's King of the Road. The original 1964 version featured Roger Miller on vocals, Buddy Killen on Guitar, Thumbs Carllile on clicks (also a great guitarist) and the iconic double bass lines courtesy of Bob Moore.

Sweet Lorraine - Nat King Cole Cover/Jazz Standard on my Gibson L5
zhlédnutí 806Před 2 měsíci
Here's a bit of Sweet Lorraine, an old Jazz Standard most notably performed by Nat King Cole, but also recorded by a whole slew of other artists, including Teddy Wilson and Frank Sinatra. It was first published in 1928 with music by Cliff Burwell and words by Mitchell Parish. I'm playing my L5 (L7 conversion) with Charlie Christian pickup and singing through a 1946 RCA 74b. I recently put a new...
My Babe's a Pterodactyl (Original Rockabilly Love Song)
zhlédnutí 480Před 2 měsíci
This is a very sensible rockabilly song about pterodactyls. The guitar I'm using is my Gretsch Country Club 6196 with dynasonic pickups and playing an Engelhardt M1 double bass.
Church Street Blues - Tony Rice - Fingerstyle Bluegrass Cover
zhlédnutí 1,9KPřed 4 měsíci
Pickin' out a little Tony Rice tune today. Church Street Blues was written by Norman Blake. This is a hybrid take on the Tony Rice version of the song. My guitar is a 2012 Martin OM-28 and the mic is a Telefunken U47. Flick me a like if you enjoy this piece :)
Jordan Thomas Trio - Crazy Arms (Ray Price Cover)
zhlédnutí 924Před 6 měsíci
The Jordan Thomas Trio play a cover of Ray Price's 1956 honky tonk hit Crazy Arms. Ours is nothing like the original mind you! This was shot by good friend Andrew McClymont a couple of years back and features Craig Renneberg on bass and @MurraySheridan on drums. Enjoy!
White Christmas - Bing Crosby (Cover)
zhlédnutí 986Před 6 měsíci
Hope you don't mind hearing this one again! I just really like this old Bing Crosby classic. This has been covered by everyone, from Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc etc. Perfect in its simplicity with a melody that makes me feel so dang festive. Merry Christmas, friends! The guitar is my modified Gibson L5 with a Charlie Christian pickup, the double bass is an Engelhardt M1.
In the Wee Small Hours - Jordan Thomas (Frank Sinatra Cover)
zhlédnutí 1,5KPřed 8 měsíci
Frank Sinatra released this In the Wee Small Hours in 1955 on the album of the same title. Sinatra had been going through a low point in his career. His young crowd appeal had faded and a number of troubles had begun to enter his life - primarily, in relation to this album, the breakdown of his marriage to Ava Gardener. The melancholic mood through the album changed peoples perception of Sintat...
Hybrid Picking Guitar Lesson - Don't Think Twice, It's Alright - Bob Dylan

Can't Help Falling In Love - Elvis Presley (Cover) on a 1954 Martin 00-17
zhlédnutí 8KPřed 10 měsíci
Elvis Presley played a 1955 Martin D-28. This is an original 1954 Martin 00-17. Not the same but close enough to inspire me to play an Elvis tune on it. Drop a like if you enjoy! Recorded at Premier Guitars Sydney
Between the Bars - Elliot Smith (Cover)
zhlédnutí 1,7KPřed 10 měsíci
Elliot Smith is a special artist and one I've been mesmerised by for a long time. The lyrics of this song eerily foreshadow his tragic demise and paint a beautiful albeit haunting picture to anyone who knows the story of his life and death. To play a song as sensitive as this one requires a great deal of care and respect for the original. I was in two minds about recording it. Its a challenging...
Another One - Mac DeMarco (Acoustic Cover)
zhlédnutí 2KPřed 11 měsíci
I heard Mac DeMarco play a really nice acoustic piano version of this song. It had a totally different feel, which inspired me to try and figure out an acoustic finger style version of it. No reason really, I just like the tune. Hope you enjoy!
Daria - Esteemsters (Cover Song from Daria S01E01)

This is a song from the first episode of Daria. The episode is called "Esteemsters". This song wasn't available anywhere so I've recorded a cover of it. Enjoy!
Hey Good Lookin’ - Hank Williams Acoustic Cover on Original 1943 Martin D28
zhlédnutí 4,9KPřed 11 měsíci
This 1943 Martin D-28 is something truly special. And it is practically identical to Hank Williams's 1944 Martin D-28 that is on display at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, so it seems fitting to play one of his tunes on it. I hope you enjoy!

Im from south korea. I dont understand lyrics all but your voice is so beautiful. Thank you jordan. 감사합니다
That bass tone is just so smooth and punchy. Pickup/mic/preamp details? And your voice, like butter. Subbed!!!!
@@anthonyplaysbass thanks Anthony. I’ve been tinkering excessively to get this bass sounding how I like it. It has two gut strings. The e string is a Thomastic A and the A is a Thomastic D. Low tension to match the guts better. The preamp is a Fishman Platinum Pro straight into pro tools with plenty of room mic from the U47. The pickup is just a K&K bass max. I have a second sound post on the bass side to mitigate feedback. It isn’t very loud acoustically but I love how it sounds plugged in.
@@Jordan_Thomas excellent work! I need to get myself a mic like yours or the sm57
@@anthonyplaysbass a nice large capsule condenser is great for capturing the energy of the low end. I can definitely recommend the Telefunken U47. Not cheap though! There are a number of great clones such as the Warm Audio one
So well done.
Thank you Graham! I appreciate that
Brilliant
Thanks Chuck! Great to hear from you!
The lyrics of this song are very interesting. Your version is always fascinating Jordan. I miss you, why do you take so long to post?
Thank you Roberta! I guess I take so long to post because it takes a lot of work and youtube doesn't reward my efforts too much. I'm lucky to get 1000 views :( people would rather watch MrBeast or something
Very nice!!!!
Thanks man! I appreciate thattt
Knew I'd love this as soon as I saw the double bass, smooth as silk!
Thanks amigo! I appreciate thattt
Nice!
Thank you, Doug!
Love it Jordan. The cool Bobby Darin vibe! ❤
I do love that song also! I sing a version of it. Guess I better upload that too!
Hello, it's very very good, Thanks to the Duet, Fab
This is kind of you to say. Thank you very much!
Smooth version. Keep up the good work. 🎸
This is kind of you to say, Maureen. Thanks! Hope you're doing great!
Great version of a great song
Thank you, Cas. I genuinely appreciate it.
Do you perform in public?
I do! Mainly in Sydney Australia these days. But I do like to get over to the States when the finances permit. Where are you?
@@Jordan_Thomas in Vancouver Washington, across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. So I do go to concerts in Portland. 😎
Nice! I'll never forget this song from childhood.
Its such a great song. I have fond childhood memories of it also
Good stuff! Peace be with you!
I appreciate that Paul. Thank you!
If anything the guitar is too good
Thank you Jim!
I caught the pick🙋♀️😂😂🔥🔥🔥🚒🚒🚒🚒
🤣🤣🤣
My favorite Christmas song ever. You play and sing so beautifully. I'm still fairly new to guitar even though I've owned one for a few years. Did you study classically or are you self taught? I admire you. Julie 😊
I'm just self taught. I grew up just before the internet was a thing, so I enjoyed by free time by playing guitar!
Awesome performance. I love the guitar :)
Thanks Julie!
First time here. You sound fantastic. Thanks for sharing :) Julie
You are welcome, Julie. Thanks for stopping by!
Sweeeeet guitar! Nicely done as always.
Thank you Paul! I do really love this particular instrument
hey Jordan. Lovely stuff this. That chord at 18:00 is an E7/G#. Not a diminished
Well there you go! Thanks for the heads up. I will take note of this.
This is amazing. One of the best renditions out there!
That is very kind of you to say!
That right hand technique is actually insane.
Thanks Zach. I just hope it doesn't get me locked up!
Yes, Brain, this is something els
Thank you Lucas. I hope Brain enjoyed
@@Jordan_Thomas jou can Beth of that.
WOW! Masterful finger picking!
Thank you very much, George. I appreciate that!
How does this only have 300K views? This is literally the best cover of this song that i've heard.
That is incredibly kind of you to say. I guess if I owned that beautiful '43 martin and did more covers I might get some more reach. I'd have to mortgage the house to pay for it though... and I'm renting!
Belle interprétation. Un peu trop rapide
Thank you. I will slow down next time.
Awesome guitar playing and a superb tone. Can I ask what gauge strings you are using. Thanks
This Martin is veeery lightly constructed and had 11 gauge Martin strings
This is great! You are playing jazz chords. Did you posta tab somewhere we can find it?
Thank you! Oh I haven’t made a tab but the chords aren’t too hard I don’t think. I’m sure if you look close enough you’ll see which frets I’m pressing down ;)
Great song and performance. Guitar and vocals sound superb
Hey I appreciate that! Thank you very much :)
Thanks!
Amazing, Paul! Thanks so much for your support 🙏🐆
Dude, bring it on. Total package.
Thanks amigo!
This is nice..
Cheers, Scott!
Wow that is some of the best hybrid picking I've ever seen. keep it up!
That is kind of you to say. Thank you!
Nice arrangement!
Cheers Bill!
Sounds awesome man!
Thank you Bill, I always enjoy playing this L5
Hot damn this is good. From the jazzy intro to the bounce of the fingerpicking to the voice and that almost-ragtime turnaround between verses…just great. What a take on a classic!
I appreciate that, Lance. I have a bit of a jazzy disposition. Can't help it I guess!
Keep it up. It’s fantastic.
That what was one of THE best intros to this song I have ever heard phenomenal playing and arranging!
Much obliged, mr Squared. That's the beauty of finding a song you like. You just keep playing and honing it until something nice happens. I very much enjoy playing this arrangement.
Very very good
You’re welcome Lars. Thanks!
Wow😮 thank you for sharing that Was truly amazing. So beautifully done. ❤

Hi Jordan......I'm back again............5 stars !!
And 5 stars to YOU my good friend Peter!
@@Jordan_Thomas ........very friendly ....thank you !
insane playing man. This song drives me insane because the only tab i see is using a capo yet every single cover is done without one or it is using an electric .-.
Yes I get what you mean. This cover I’m doing is off a piano version Mac played some years ago. From what I remember it’s down a semitone or two from the original album recording.
Beautifully played. The guitar sounds amazing.
Thanks compadre! Yes its hands down the nicest sounding acoustic I've ever played.
I believe in some weeks on your website more people with the idea who Nat King Cole was..........great performance !
I believe everyone should know who Nat was. What a talent!
