I wouldn’t neglect bee activity. They are generational and return to breed. I’ve had good results with traps lately and after several years of treatment and traps and plugging old burrows my only bees noticed are in the traps. Log home owner. Minimal attacks on logs if you clean and stain like you should. But the trim and behind panels in places that can’t be accessed is where I had trouble. Traps do work.

A cutting trick that I use on straight cuts is to temporarily attach another piece of wood a long the cut line using Brad nails or double sided tape. The attached piece helps guide the blade straight and square improving the cut. Additionally, changing the speed on the multitool to a lower setting helps improve the quality of the cut, especially when cutting thick pieces of wood.

I watched your example of metal cutting, next time, flip the blade and hold the base of the tool in your right hand, and to the right, you were holding the base in your less dominant hand and the bulk of the tool blocking your vision of the cut, you didn't give the 90-degree difference a fair shake, when comparing anything, you have to give it an equal chance, I noticed your dominant hand is your right, but when you used the 90-degree angle cut, you used your left hand to hold the base, you may have been doing that for the camera, but then you're not doing a 1 for 1 comparison.

If all your measurements are exact and you scribe your cut line with a very sharp pencil, cutting on the line is not going to give you an accurate cut. With a blade that cuts a 1/8" kerf, your cut will be 1/16" short by cutting on the line. I always cut on the waste side of the line. Of course, if 1/16" doesn't matter for the cut piece, then cutting on the line isn't a problem.

This is the exact opposite of my philosophy on carpentry: Get the cut, no matter what. 😅

You can also add 2 c-clamps (g-clamps in England). 1 on each side. This way you don't have to worry or rely on your hand not slipping if you need the location of the hole to be super-precise.

PAINT ALL THE EDGES WITH A HIGH QUALITY PRIMER SEALER, THEN PAINT ALL SAME EDGES AND INTERLOCKING OVERLAPS PRIOR TO HANGING. Use a bead of none shrinking "paintable" exterior caulking at ALL overlapping/ interlocking seams during installation . I took this advice of a long time home builder that shared this advice..We have re-painted over the years to change color but.. 24 years later this type vertical siding is still in GREAT shape !!. This is still an excellent, affordable product ( 30-40% less expensive than alternatives) if steps are taken to prevent moisture from the reaching panel seams and edges. This and many other products are given a bad rap due to poor installation practices
