    I am looking for a lightweight and compact camera to use on high altitude expeditions in the Himalayas. and I am expecting to get good quality photos and videos of other mountains from the top of the Summit, Sony ZVE-10 or Fujifilm x100v? which would be a great? I'll be very grateful if you guide me. Thank you.

    I just returned from safari and mt kilimanjaro. When I arrived at Kiliamjaro international airport, I asked someone where the wash room was ( he wanted a tip), after I used the wash room the attendant in there wanted a tip. After scanning my pack, I asked the money changer who directed me outside to an atm with an armed guard. The atm gave me $100 us dollars in 10,000 schilling notes. The guard wanted a tip. I went back inside the airport and asked the money changer for smaller notes which he gave me. My hotel shuttle driver met me outside for the 1 1/2 hr (53 km ) drive to my lodge in arusha. Tip 5-10 us dollars. On safari in serengeti and elsewhere there were no ATMs and no banks. My tip - take enough us dollars to exchange for schillings - its a must. But the fantastic animals , walking mt kilimanjaro , is worth doing and the wonderful people I met as a single mature woman made me feel very safe. :)

    I suppose you get all kinds of people on your trips. Maybe in the past most if not all trekkers were outdoors enthusiasts used to hiking and lengthy camping trips but not anymore. Still this "8 week training regiment to walk" sounds funny to an old school trekker like me. Nutrition = something to eat...

    Hi John! Thanks for the question. You can visit the local travel clinic and get some shots if you don’t already have them. You will want a current Tetanus shot (good for 10 years) Vaccines; Varicella, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Measles, Mumps & Rubella. You most likely you already have some of these. You can also get Yellow fever & current Covid, although it is not required when traveling from the USA. We do recommend getting any vaccination’s at least a month prior to the trip incase you experience any side effects. We hope to see you in Nepal in 2024!

    For those not stuck in the rut with trekking packages can use the spectacular Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche High Scenic Trail high on the opposite side of the valley instead of the low Tengboche highway. Amazing views, lots of wildlife and practically no other trekkers. Takes same amount of days, offers more adventure. Once through Tengboche on the way down is enough.

    Why would you need trekking pole holders on the daypack? Are you not supposed to use those poles? Looks idiotic when people carry to poles where they are most needed. And please, show them how to wrap the straps properly over the back of the hand!

    • @Wwtrek
      @Wwtrek Před 7 měsíci

      Most of the time we do hike with the trekking poles in our hands. Occasionally it is nice to put them on your pack; looking around a village or in low angle terrain. On longer trips it’s nice to have the option to put the poles on your pack. We can make a video on how to use your trekking poles and properly use the hands straps, it does make a difference. Thank you for the comment!

    • @karipintakivi9153
      @karipintakivi9153 Před 7 měsíci

      @@Wwtrek With "under and up" style strap crossing the back of the hand you get: a) maximum power without having to squeeze the grip at all. b) possibility to sift the palm of the hand on the flat top of the grip so that you can reach lower when jumping over a stream (as an example) c) much better mobility as the top part of the strap works as a kind of 360 degree joint allowing you to point the pole to almost any direction without changing the grip. d) to take a picture or to pick your nose just drop the poles and they hang out of the way without falling off. With a flick of your wrist you regain the grip in a snap. e) if you fall down and cushion your fall with your hands they go above the grips and are not squashed between the ground and the pole. Just a few points to consider. I once counted pole carrying trekkers coming down from Namche and only 1 out of 15 had the straps correctly wrapped. All others either no straps or just "push-through" style. I skied over 1000 km per winter already in primary school...
