Not bad, average little 2bed apartment in Sydney is around 150k yen a week but gonup to 400k yen a week, the deposit is 6x of the weekly amount and you need to bring everything including the washing machine...so all this is no big deal, and given the japanese culture, I'm not surprised with the land lord gift. Someone is actually letting you use and wear out their property, so a gift as a thank you makes sense.
