Hi. I am a railway enthusiast of over 50 years ( with a mid life distraction break ). My main interests are steam , early / vintage diesels /electrics, and old railway architecture.
Also, having been a farmer for half my working life, I have a great interest in agricultural machinery, so these may feature in my videos as well.
Other videos will feature boats/ships, planes and nature.

34046 Braunton is seen , briefly, first ready to leave Crewe (as I was passing) and head to Preston. At Preston, she would work the steam leg of The Lakelander railtour, on to Carlisle, round the Combrian coast, and back to Carnforth, where diesel would work back to Nottingham. Later at night, she is seen returning to Crewe through Hartford. 18th May 2024 #Lakelander #Braunton

Sadly after an unscheduled stop at Chester, the Scotrail set and class 47, D1924 (47810 ) were detached and returned to Crewe. The Brit, was found to be still having problems with the motion, but continued on to Coton Hill with support coach. After delays at Wrexham and Shrewsbury, she eventually made it ...

Churnet Valley Railway Steam Gala. 4079 Pendennis Castle tackles the steep climb ( 1in 39 / 1in 45 ) from Leekbrook Jn. to Ipstones. With a load of a packed 7 coaches , the climb proved too much, and the GWR castle ground to a halt. However after a few minutes and several attempts the crew made a great job of getting the train started again, and slowly made it to the top. 6th May 2024

Hi how long from Manchester

Excellent video , wise move to change your filming platform. Nice to see a full Blood and Custard Mark 1 Rake of coaches.

Nice catch.👍

Cracking footage Phil and not short on variety.👍👍
Thanks David. Certainly wasn't 😀👍
I don't do Southern steamies, except the Tiny Terrier Tank Engine, but very nice.
Thanks Kelly, there are some odd looking southern locos, but Braunton looks good
This has got to be one of the first times I've seen a Castle loose its footing. I mean the run out of Tyseley Locomotive works is very steep and castles regularly get halted on the incline due to a signal stop. They have no problems at all making that climb from a standing start halfway up it. So this video is rather surprising since the Castles are very well know for their surefootedness. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if this happened to a West Country Class or an A1 etc. Still, nice to see something different for a change and something that will surely create a discussion.
Top tier footage, this gala has a brilliant lineup. Highlight of this video has to be D1015's claggy departure
Thanks, great gala. I love the westerns
Great vid thanks!
Thanks, my pleasure 👍
I'm going today
Hope you had a great day 🙂
Looks like a good day out must go there soon
It was and you must and won't be disappointed 👍
Phil a truly amazing sequence. it shows how disorganised BR was in it diesel program although some really great different Locos with seemingly an infinite number of variants. This gives a great variety for the rail enthusiast. I moved to the USa thirty years ago and the diesels are all like t the. class 70 with single cabs. however a fabulous set of vids cheer Mike
Thanks Mike. True, Many designs weren't a success, but gave us enthusiasts a great variety
Thanks Rick. More like double lucky or unlucky🤣. Neither of them were planned.
Very nice Phil a double capture.

I’ve attended the Severn valley railways diesel gala this week and I’ve finally got the locos that were visiting here
me too Scott. That's where I was going when I saw 34046 at Crewe. Great Day?
@@philclarke3203yeah
Went on the Monday, great day, no problems at all. It is a fair old pull up to Ipstones, the S160 could eat it on a butty as that's what it's designed for, a Castle is a racehorse in comparison.
Very true, but this was on the Monday?
Class 68 at the start have no logo pain blue and no nameplate what going on?
Fantastic variety, good to see 92011 back
Great video Phil that certainly was a busy 1/2 hour.
Thanks Rick
Trust the 350 to get in the way! Nice to see a rare, for me, sighting of a TfW local hauled set. I pass through Crewe 3 or 4 times a month and rarely see one.
Nice film, unobstructed by twigs and branches 😁😇.....sorry my shutter wasn't silent, but preferable to the local Tour de France anyway!!...

Looks like it will be Braunton in Carlisle on 18/05/24. I was hoping for Britannia but saw there was a problem again. She looks good on here and good you were able to get out for her
Yes alot were hoping for the brit on Saturday. Did look good, I was one of the lucky ones, before the problems started
All those diesels, especially the final Class 66 had very shiny clean roofs
Great video Phil shame about your visitors😮 and a at a.e about Britannia I was going to catch her on the return run to was not to be..😢
Thanks Rick. YES, saw them coming , about 8 grown men, they stopped and asked if there was a steam train coming? Without thinking I said yes, in 5 minutes🙄. They stayed abd wouldn't shut up🤣. Oh dear, but at least Sparky🐕 got his walk?

All isn't lost. Britannia will find a way to overcome her motion problems, you see if she doesn't. Perhaps she's just feeling a bit of motion sickness, it's normal. Besides, a Really Useful Engine never gives up or leaves her passengers behind.
I'm sure the staff at LSL will get it sorted before long
Oh no, again. I really hope this engine will be fixed in time to visit Robertbridge next month for the K&ESR 50th gala.

Very nice, are the DB class 92s finally making a come back to the UK rails!?
Thanks. DB 92s are still only used from Dollands Moor through the tunnel
If DB won't pay to run their 90s they certainly have no sense in using the 92s - it's probably going to GBRf or Cale Sleepers
