I pretty much gave up on on the tie fighter pilot and stormtrooper helms. Theyre both just not worth it for investing especially now with the set line having no future of returning anytime soon. They're thresholds probably wont go much higher and may even decline at some point

Great videos and love listening to your advice. Definitely agree about the effort required (research, looking for discounts, storage, shipping etc), and the need to be passionate about it. There's definitely been a surge in Lego investors (and Lego releasing more sets) since the pandemic, when people had spare cash. That's created more supply than demand for many sets in recent years, which means prices often rise more slowly post-retirement. I think long term holds might be a better strategy at the moment, as many of the highly recommended investments each year since 2020 are often available at retail price (or less) on ebay during the first year post retirement (e.g. Medieval Blacksmith, Endor Heroes, Republic Fighter Tank, Horizon Forbidden West, etc.). Sets growing by 100-200% in 1-2 years are increasingly rare, and it's harder to pick winning sets as everyone else is trying to do exactly the same (and often watching the same investment advice on CZcams). Certainly in the UK I think it's taking longer for sets to start rising in value, and in an economic downturn some people will offload their stock at lower prices, which keeps ROI growth lower for a while. Personally, I started investing in 2020 and have decided to hold almost all my sets long term, only selling the gifts with purchase or sets that have not performed well, or have grown but then flatlined.

Still high on this line and I am sad its ending next year. I think the era of massive gains immediately after retirement from the 2020 gold rush era are over so we have to readjust our perspective a bit. With that pushing out some of the bandwagon investors and even collectors who hoped to maybe sell their collection one day, we might see more consistent regular growth though just from a smaller supply on the aftermarket.

Interesting comment about Cody possibly being scooped up by Amazon near the end of life. I do find it interesting that it seems like it used to be dud/low demand sets that were available 6 months later, but this year we have higher demand sets like Luke's Helmet, the Horizon set, and others. I saw a comment somewhere else that it almost seems like Amazon is Lego investing now. They get to sell them at MSRP, without much discounts like the typical 20% off now that no one else has them.

I think the Indiana Jones Temple of the Golden Idol is being slept on - retires in December and is probably gonna rocket in price

The executor midi-scale was by many considered to be in a similar position as the TIE fighter pilot helmet. Would you agree? And would you still agree now that its retirement got pushed back at least another year?

None of those will value enough to make a real profit unless you buy a hundred sets at making a handful of change each set. 👎

Definitely exposes biases & gets down to the data - with the HP set, it bring up the remake factor. A lot of HP sets don't do well because they are remade so often. Maybe another factor to add 🤷🏼‍♀️

Don't get me wrong, I like the tractor, and it's on my list, so just throwing this out as a possible counterpoint: I wonder what the overlap between John Deere fans and Lego fans is. While i like the set and could see it going in farms in Lego cities, I wonder if it could go the way of the Harley Davidson Fatboy and not grow rapidly in retirement due to a lack of overlap between the two fanbases.

Love the concept! To begin with I really like how you are data-driven in your way of thinking, and not being subjective - "i love this cool set". This goes for all your videos. And in this video you challenge how sets are perceived, which really makes me think one more round before deciding whether or not I like a set for investing. Also I would like to feedback you on something you did great this video - showing the numbers on the screen. You often refer to numbers and instead of you reading them all out loud (and the viewer forgetting the numbers), I like how you visualize the numbers on the screen. Makes it alot easier to digest.
