@@marshagreen9759 Hi Marsha. Trina seems to be seeing a lot of Spencer in Gio. In fact, the writers seemed to have modeled Gio after Spencer. If you look at Gio at a certain angle, he does have a resemblance to Spencer in the early days before Spencer started to lift weight. It is surprising to me that Spencer and Gio knows each other in real life. I wonder if he recommended Gio for the role he is playing on GH. I find the whole thing real curious.

I’m happy some people are touching on this. Personally I don’t want a Sprina reunion because I don’t trust GH & their choices lately. They fumbled Sprina before I fear they’ll do it again. That being said, I’m looking at what’s in front of us. Gio is good looking, can act & looks good on screen next to Taby. If over the next year they can character develop him, & give him good quality screen time with Trina…I can be ok with something happening eventually. Fridays episode alone they managed to be vulnerable, giggly, & spoke on their passions. That to me is worth noting considering they recently met.

@nfgc86, I like your comment and I agree with it. We each can agree to disagree but with respect. Some of the comments are divided and yes I am a SPRINA fan who believes in an SRRINA reunion one day. Each of us has our own opinions and hopes, this is why we each are unique in life.

And wanting a Sprina reunion doesn’t mean we don’t want independence and growth for Trina. They had months to give her story and we’re only now seeing her bc they want to develop someone else. @@nfgc86 Yes and Amen to your point. Also found out that Gio is also friends with NAC. I just wished GH had written the story for Trina much differently after just losing Spencer. That story could have been a powerful story for Tabyana Ali. Many kept saying GH didn't know how to write for her. You do not see her having conversations with her parents or her grandpa but had more scenes with Aunt Stella. What you are saying is how I have been feeling.

Really appreciate the spirit of this post. There’s something lazy about the “loss bringing ppl together” concept. Yes, it happens. But what happens when that fades? Like you said, the show needs to give them something outside of shared love of the arts and dead loved ones. Tbh, they should’ve focused on building a story and background for Gio. And letting Trina regroup after watching the love of her life die. She still seems directionless and that’s hardly the time to entertain someone new. Also, there’s something that doesn’t sit right with me when movies/shows paint a guy as primarily being interested bc someone’s broken. She’s smart, beautiful, helped him get a job…but it’s her pain that sparks his interest 😐. I’ve seen this in plenty of shows and it always ends badly. And lastly, I’ll say that this does feel like a way to try and shut Sprina fans up. Give her someone new so we stop asking for a Spencer recast. Or for the ppl who are satisfied with her just having someone…

Is it me or did he literally JUST get here? Like he’s still very new!!! I’m a Sprina fan through and through and I want them back no more than every Sprina fan, but I’m also a Trina fan and very fascinated with HER- her stories, the soapyness of her life, how she copes, the fact that she has someone new, besides Joss, to talk to! I’m enjoying HER story and refuse to compare a masterpiece to a beginning of something else. While I agree that the writers are annoying af, I’m still rooting for her. Sometimes if truly feels like people only liked Spencer in the Sprina story, which by proxy liked her because she was paired with him, when it’s always been HER love interest, HER story that grew into a SPRINA story! Spencer was brought back to the show for Trina, so I’m not really surprised that Gio is also being brought on for her. Again, I CANNOT STAND THE WRITERS!!! But I only want to root for her even if it gets messy, this IS soap, and as long as we get to see her beautiful face with an interest specifically for her, I’m content. Until these idiots decide to bring the love of her life back, just give me Trina, even if she’s looking and talking about art! I like her alongside Sprina! And I’m open to this beginning of a new love story or possibly a place holder for her man to be back, and if NAC is like “I’m done for real”, we just have to accept it and hope the new Spencer recast will blow her socks off! But I’m also willing to give Gio a chance! It’s his messy beginning like everyone else on this flipping show!

I believe that the writers are just trying to make Gio some kind of recaranation of Spencer, so that Trina doesn't feel bad about moving on; I think that it's sad that she "bond" over a shared loss of a love, instead of a shared love for Art (Music is a form of art) you'd think since Trina thinks Gio playing the violin is beautiful, you'd think that's a great place to start a friendship and more.

He just encouraged her to use her *instrument* if it brings her joy… I understand how annoying it is that NAC is gone and we didn’t really get the closure we deserve or the happy ending Sprina deserved and how upsetting that is… believe me I do- I was literally crying when it happened, but I’ve also accepted the reality of what’s going on and just want Trina to be given a beautiful story and to be loved on. It’s still too early to cancel out Gio, people treated Taby like that initially as well, and look where we are! So all I’m saying is, the reality- NAC isn’t coming back atm (sucks I know)- Manz literally unfollowed Taby and all of GH, and deleted his fan account so I’m not holding my breath! Taby has barely been on screen- BARELY! In comes a potential love interest and boom she’s getting more screen time (I know- gross but oh well), they’re somewhat writing towards her grief, and Gio is being written for her… all that means to me is more Taby/Trina time and some soapy romance for her until Spencer (new cast or NAC) returns- if they even let that happen 🙄😭 and I don’t dislike Gio too!

I don't think that Tabyana will be staying on GH past her current contract which expires early next year and the writing has been on the wall already for months and I think that NAC already knows that Tabyana won't be staying past her current contract. I also think that the powers that be will have no trouble putting Gio with a young white woman eventually and this storyline will always be sloppy seconds to Joss and Dex's relationship which is what I think that the powers that be want but NAC didn't want a bunch of scenes with Joss and Dex and so Spencer and Trina weren't put in the position of propping up Joss and Dex and their relationship. I think that the powers that be wanted to avoid more negative attention directed at them and wanted to avoid another Greg Vaughn situation where they recast Greg Vaughn as Lucky Spencer and it didn't go well for him. I think that Gio would have been better off in another storyline because I think that he's just a rebound guy who's being set up to fail in this storyline but, he's white so I am sure that the powers that be will have no trouble putting Gio with a young white woman once Trina dumps him. I wanted to see Trina date a man not some teenager that barely looks like he's 18 where we have to hear that he plays the violin every time he's on-screen. Gio is basically playing himself on GH meanwhile Tabyana's contract is growing closer to expiring each day. There's no incentive for Tabyana to stay on GH past her current contract and the writing has been on the wall already for months.

Normally when a character is leaving a soap opera the powers that be may start to take away their connections to the show and that's exactly what has happened to Trina and Joss and Trina's friendship is one sided and mostly about Joss.

@amusicfan25a21, I didn't know that Jonathan Jackson is a musician, I only started watching when SPRINA was launched. I like your comment and agree with you 100%. I am a SPRINA fan who loves both Spencer and Trina but if you agree as a fan that you don't see any chemistry with Trina and Gio, you are called silly SPRINA fans and I am not silly. I see what I see and think GH should have handled Trina's grief in more detail. I feel as if we all have an opinion and should be respected. My heart is saying we are missing little red flags about Trina and her recalling that art book that Spencer gave her and her wishing he would walk through the door. I want her to have a story on GH but not always play a sidekick to Joss, Dex, and Gio but let her be Trina. Trina is still grieving the loss of Spencer and her dealing with the loss could have been told differently by GH. GH has to do better about how people of color are written. We also forget that NAC asked that his role not be recast and why is this? Also in real life, he and Gio are friends. I am looking at things in a different way with hidden details that are in plain view and this is part of soap opera writing.

Gio is in a role where he is miscast and he looks like he's barely 18 and there are plenty of people who are actors or actresses who are talented musicians in real life but we don't have to awkwardly hear about it every time that they are on GH. The powers that be have had plenty of time to recast Spencer Cassadine but that hasn't happened and I think that the powers that be put Gio in an awkward position and set him up to fail and Trina deserves to be more than just to be Joss's sidekick or to prop up Curtis and now Gio and that reinforces my original thought that Trina's point of view and her feelings aren't important to the powers that be. I don't think that Tabyana will be staying on GH past her current contract which expires early next year. I think that Gio is meant to be a boring, sweet guy who won't upstage Dex but this is a soap opera and Gio is basically playing himself on GH and there's no tension here and when there's no tension then usually there's no screen time on a soap opera. Look at how TJ and Molly have been treated by the powers that be for years.

Gio is an amazing and talented violin artist in real life. Now I understand and I know Cameron is a musician but will check Jonathan Jackson out, already checked Gio out. Thanks for explaining.

totally with you. as much as I loved Sprina together, I really wanna see Trina grow and progress, and find herself without him. I think this is a great opportunity to do that and I hope the writers take it. she’s so much more than just “Spencer’s girlfriend.“ I’d love to see a Trina-focused plot line!

@@samone789 I fear people don't care about a Trina focused plot line. I hope I'm wrong. Trina didn't have a story when she was with Spencer, but no one seemed to notice or care outside a few of us. I've been asking for a Trina-focused plot line for over a year and it didn't happen. I care more about individual characters than pairings. My issue was that she didn't have her own story once they became an official couple. He didn't either. I wanted them to have their own stories and GH wouldn't do it. The irony is I think she has opportunity for more of her own story now because there is no Spencer and I want the show to keep this direction regardless of what happens in the future with Spencer, Gio, or any other guy that may come. I never want the writers to let Trina get lost in any of her pairings to the point she has nothing else going on.

You are not alone. Trina fan here. But I do want to see her in other storylines that extend beyond romance. I’m kind of liking this whole thing with Ava and her wanting Trina to get the scoop on Sonny.

Unpopular Unbiased Opinion: I like that Tabyana (the actress) gets to have a reset with no Spencer around. I think this is good for Tabyana because she gets to start from the beginning with Gio. NAC was a holdover from the days with Trina 2.0. I like that Tabyana gets to work with someone that has never dated or been with anyone else on the canvas. I'm glad she gets that experience. Tabyana and Gio are getting to truly build their own thing.I also like watching the dynamic with Gio because Tabyana probably knows a little about what Gio (the actor) is going through. She had to come into this role as a recast after someone people loved...while some fans still miss the other actress. Gio is a brand new character coming into a situation where some people hate him because they wanted a Spencer recast. Both actors came into a situation where people still miss the other people who came before and they have to prove themselves. Who knows more about that than Tabyana? I bet Tabyana and Gio have more in common than people think. *To be clear, I watch and advocate for ALL The black cast and not just Trina. I understand this is a Trina channel...so I try to respect that and I don't discuss much of the other black character here out of respect...but I do watch for them. I have alot to say about those storylines but I will reserve that for other spaces.
