Retro PC Games Played on Real Hardware - Just GamePlay, No Commentary.
I have a big collection of retro PC games and I decided to play them one by one. I thought I'd play in alphabetical order but turned out that's a bit boring so I'm playing whatever I want. I also play all these games in real hardware, so there won't be any emulators or anything. Depends on the game I will change the hardware and will add that into the video description, so you know what is running.
At the moment my plan is:
1 - Run the games on real hardware with an average specs.
2 - Play the game at least for 1 hour (longer if I enjoy it)
3 - Rate the game.
4 - No commentary, Just gameplay and in-game sound/music.
I hope you enjoy!

What is going on here?
I have a large collection of retro PC hardware and games. I've decided to play each of the games for at least 1 hour to see how they are.
Theme Hospital Episode 2! Took a bit longer than I thought, for some reason I couldn't cure slack tongue, not sure what did I miss but managed to pass the level.
Thanks for watching! Enjoy!

VGA output goes into a VGA Splitter. One cable connects to my monitor, and the other goes into the Gefen VGA to DVI Scaler. From there, a DVI to HDMI converter takes the signal into the Elgato GameCapture 4K60. As for sound, it's a bit simpler: a 3.5mm splitter; one side connects to my headphones, and the other goes to my capture PC'sFocusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen. Everything comes together in OBS.

5400rpm HDD? It's so quiet. Too quiet. :D
Hey I was very surprised by that too! From years ago I remember the disk crunching in the PC case like someone was running a screwdriver over hard metal but for some reason this one turned out to be a cat purr. The disk is a 40GB Seagate, I think it's 7200 but I'm not 100% sure, I need to check by the model number. I think I'll need to make another defrag video later with a louder disk haha.
One of the best games ever
I totally agree. Even for today's standards gameplay is just great. Music and sounds are great too!

YOu need an @echo off in your autoexec.bat. And you can speed your boot times by adding /TESTMEM:OFF to the himem.sys driver.
I think if you put more ram in there, like 16MB you'll see a massive difference.
Hey, yeah good idea and I actually had the same thought. I tested the game with 16MB and 32MB and didn't notice any difference at all. I think it's the AMD K5 75Mhz holding it back. Later I'll try it with a 133 or 166Mhz with 8-16-32MB ram to see the difference. But I appreciate the suggestion, it's a good idea definitely.

Hi there, could you please post the graphic options and setup? I used to play that game on my first self-bought PC with a Voodoo2 card, and it ran very well. Nowadays, I own an AMD 450 with a Voodoo2 card and it really sucks because of the low FPS rate. :("
Hey! I have the PC specs in the video description. Unfortunately I can't remember the graphic options, I change computer parts and settings a lot but other than changing the resolution I keep settings as default. With Voodoo2 and PIII 450 the game was playing pretty well. I haven't tried it with AMD but I have the hardware, I could give it a try sometime.

Like! What resolution did you use here ? Although I cannot see the FPS in Glide in NFS Porsche, while playing with the Banshee I felt that the frame rate was lower than with the Voodoo 3, the game wasn’t as fluid as with the Voodoo 3 in 1024x768. But in 800x600 it run very well.
I kept the same settings as Voodoo 3! Resolution: 1024 x 768 x 16 Car Detail: High Car Lighting: High World Rendering quality: Very High View Distance: Very High It was noticeably but wasn't too bad either. I'm really surprised with the Voodoo Banshee's performance.
Very interesting comparison. The Savage4 does not display fog I guess and the Voodoo 3 has lower quality textures (256x256) compared to the other 2 cards which support 512x512 ones. Unfortunately it’s not possible to see the FPS in Glide with the Voodoo to compare the frame rate.
Yeah I was surprised to see Savage4 not displaying the fog, I only noticed it after I watched the video back. For the frame rate, I think Voodoo3 and TNT2 was very similar in performance but Savage4 was slightly slower. I think S4 colours are much better, other 2 seems a bit washed out but that's probably because there's no fog haha
What resolution and level detail?
Hi, thanks for asking. 1024 x 768 x 16 car detail: high car lighting: high world rendering quality: very high view distance: very high Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hey! I use 1.07.00-WHQL one, I think it's the latest official driver. Works quite well. I just recorded the second video, I'll upload tomorrow but this time I played with Voodoo Banshee.
@@RootiferasRetroGameplay I also use the version 1.07, the last one from 3dfx. I tested almost all versions I found and 1.07 is overall the best for the Voodoo 3. For the Banshee I used 1.04, also the last official one from 3dfx.
@@3dfxvoodoocards6 yeah same! I tried a few different ones and decided for banshee 1.04 is the best one. Works really well!
This configuration is a 1998 dream PC, the P2 450 mhz being the fastest CPU and the Voodoo 2 the fastest video card available on the market in 1998.
yeah exactly! At that time my computer wasn't up to the task. I had a PII 233, 32MB RAM and a Cirrus Logic CL-5446 with 4MB RAM. Later I upgraded to a Celeron 400 and TNT2 M64, it was a life changer. I've never had a 3DFX card back then, this is pretty much why I got all the games and the hardware now. I couldn't play any of these in the past with 3DFX, I'm experiencing them for the first time with the "dream build" :)
Delta Force 1 and 2 only have software support and no hardware acceleration.
Delta Force 1 only runs software but I found some Glide wrapper but I don't think it worked, so the game is running on software. However, Delta Force 2 has D3D support but not required and it can run software. Here's the photo from the original DF2 box: i.gyazo.com/c9240654adf76f9ff0ab5576e5fb1e62.jpg

Yes! I think this was pretty much the best you could get around that time. I think if I dropped the resolution down to 800x600 the game would have ran perfectly.
