The Settlers IV [Ep.1] - Retro PC Gameplay [NVIDIA TNT2 M64- PIII 500] [No Commentary]

What is going on here?
I have a large collection of retro PC hardware and games. I've decided to play each of the games for at least 1 hour to see how they are.
The Settlers IV. Not everyone's favourite Settlers game but I love it. This is ne of the most slow-paced games I can think of. You need to gather resources, fix the ground, carry resources all the way to the location where you'll build the new building, then builders slowly walks in and then slowly builds... yeah it takes time. Combat isn't amazing, it feels like you have some control but actually you don't. Units just follow whatever they see attackable.
This is the first episode, mainly building an army. Next episode will be the battle episode.
Later I'll try the single player campaign too. I wish I could do a multiplayer run with someone but I don't think I can convince anyone to play with me :)

Capture:
VGA output goes into a VGA Splitter. One cable connects to my monitor, and the other goes into the Gefen VGA to DVI Scaler. From there, a DVI to HDMI converter takes the signal into the Elgato GameCapture 4K60. As for sound, it's a bit simpler: a 3.5mm splitter; one side connects to my headphones, and the other goes to my capture PC'sFocusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen. Everything comes together in OBS.

The Settlers IV:
Fun to play and not stressful like any other RTS games from the same era. You don't need to click 400 times a minute or count seconds for an upgrade. I love it.

hah I'll play the older ones too, probably it will be 4-3-2-1. I haven't played Settlers 1, the flag thing was very confusing to me. I still don't think I fully understand how it works.

@@RootiferasRetroGameplay "2: veni vidi vici" was the best I think. each flag-separated road has its own peasant and donkey if you have donkeys. they are not micromanaged, which forces you to plan better etc.
