The sounds of little kids alone creeps me out.
Context is everything. The sound of children on a playground-not necessarily creepy. The sound of children in my house, where no children live, at 3 in the morning-I’m calling the exorcist.
Ratko Mladic must be a reincarnation of Shiro Ishii after seeing this.
I love this topic and as usual, you did a great job presenting. Also, I think kids are just creepy in general. 😂
They’re like little Oompa Loopmas
Love your books btw. Anything new coming up?
Thanks! Got a few things in the works. Expecting to release Case Files of the Rocky Mountain Paranormal Research Society Vol 2 in the fall. Got a couple of mine in development but not ready to be announced yet. And got a few from other authors I’ll be looking to publish soonish.
Fun fact I finished The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett today, and it has the Mary Mary rhyme in it. It wouldn't be a big stretch to imagine the rhyme is where some of the ideas for the book came from. Also I don't mind taxes it's the hideous megacorp tax breaks and misspending of them that bothers me.
Another one I’ll have to add to my reading list.
Spoken like a true black 🐑. Take my money please. Or in this case take my wool. The burben is too much.
When are you going to start The YT membership or other sub service?
@@SyntaxNexus not sure about sub services. I have some ideas, but I’m not sure if my audience is big enough yet.
Did you name your channel after that one Cryptopsy song?
Not familiar with it or them, so no. But I’m not surprised someone else independently coined the same word.
@Phobophile Their vocalist would become an English professor later, so it's probably there in the dictionary somewhere
Speaking of horror movies with young actresses I re-watched Ginger Snaps the other night. Still a good movie 👍
Terrible review
Why? If you don’t like it, just don’t bother watching.
The universe was founded by the knowledge, wisdom and understanding of GOD almighty. Alot of things have been proven and work based on science. But the supernatural is on a whole other level that doest obey the laws of the material world. But it could be possible that there is a form of extremely advanced supernatural science in that realm that God has kept away from us for a reason. After all the created both the physical and non physical, so that( the non physical) could also be obeying some kind of supernatural laws and since there is interaction between both, there could be a seperate science of that realm. I dont think we need it since God feels we dont need it. We just need Jesus.
The girl next door is a true story.. that hits harder
It really does. In fact, having read some about the true story, I think Ketchum may have even pulled some punches, believe it or not.
Enjoying the heck out of this. Thanks for the chat at DV8 the other night!
Glad you found your way over to my little corner of the nuthouse!
AFAIC.. it's not a horror movie. It's a drama about fear, will to live and humanity. Great movie. Among the bests I've seen this year.
I think that’s maybe why some people didn’t like it-they were expecting more of a traditional horror movie. But if that’s the case, it’s the fault of the marketing people rather than the film itself.
@@Phobophile I agree. Keep up the good work.
what would you rate it out of 10?
I always struggle to come up with a specific number. But if I had to, maybe 8 or so. But of course my mood shifts, so my answer might be different on a different day.
Loved it
Review sting next!
Already done. I had an early screening so it was a couple weeks back.
Those that took it are already braindead. It was Menticide Waves of Terror, from the book; Rape of the Mind by Joost Meerloo MD.
Thanks for the review 👍 love me some horror novels.
👍
One thing I enjoy about Night Worms is the chance to read books I wouldn't have selected otherwise. I've discovered great authors through this subscription! Plus, who doesn't love getting a surprise in the mail each month?
I do enjoy getting a nice surprise. Even if the books aren’t to my taste in a particular month (and same goes with movies in Horror Pack) it’s nice to find something unexpected in the mailbox.
I just finished the novelization if Godzilla x Kong, it was fantastic! The books have the depth and cohesion that the movies lack. I'm currently reading New Animal by Ella Baxter it's about a mortician who starts to lose it and spirals into bdsm. There's a great short story collection called Evol Roots all about various malevolent and nefarious plants. The complex name reminds me of another book I'm hoping to get to this month called Flights by Olga Tokarczak, which among other things includes a story about an anatomist dissecting himself. Can't wait for your reviews both of those books sound right up my ally.
Interesting. I liked Godzilla x Kong well enough as brain candy, but I didn’t really feel like there was much depth there. I’ll have to check out the book.
@@Phobophile All the books are better than the movies (except Kong Skull Island imo)
@@zachreads couldn’t speak to these ones in particular (or most novelizations for that matter). But especially when the book comes first, it’s going to be better than the movie 99 times out of 100.
Sounds like it's time to cancel Nightworms. Garbage collection ad of late. Wonder why?
I’ll withhold judgment until I’ve read them, but I do think I get where you’re coming from.
Big fan of the movie series. I’ve seen them all besides the Omen 4. His mother was a jackal!
And therein lies the problem with the mythology. Still kept me entertained, but it’s not The Omen.
Here's my 2 second review.... It sucked.
I watched it a day late, but I’m glad you clarified the point of the video. But older movie reviews would be a great idea.
*Promo SM*
Yes! More re-visited movie reviews please 🙏
And seals?
I don’t know much about seals, but I’m pretty sure they’re up to something.
Never thought about that…
Pretty sure I’m the only one crazy enough to think such thoughts. Ha
Perfect timing for it to arrive
This movie was garbage...they were so close 3rd act sucked
Great review as usual
Ah yes our beloved unorthodox machines.
I’ve never heard of it before but the trailer looked right up my alley. Glad it’s on Amazon/CZcams to rent
It was ok not my most favorite but it was watchable I've seen worse.
me to
That's one great horror pack. I read somewhere that Titane director is a big fan of Cronenberg and that Cronenberg himself called her and praised her for her films. By the way I also recommend to see Titane's director's previous film - "Raw".
I’ll check that out one of these days.
I am an arachnophobe 😅 but I happen to love giant spiders in movies. Coincidentally I work at one of the film locations for Eight Legged Freaks
The ending ruined the movie.
This movie was horrible. Not one scare period. The trailer is about all I would recommend people to see the movie sucks
Were you expecting a movie full of cheap jump scares?
@@edwinelmagico8808That’s what I’m saying, it’s so much better when they do more unique things to the movie rather than all the typical horror movie cheese, like a bunch of unnecessary jump-scares, the movie was awsome 🔥🔥👍
Going today!
What did you think?? Pretty good right?
@@Wicksman2645 LOVED it. I’m a 70s kid so this was made for me lol!
@@nc9726 I enjoyed the 70s theme too, and I’m only 17, it was freakin awesome and I think that it will end up being a classic horror flick for most people 👍🔥
I don't believe in immaculate conception, I think it was an inside job lol
I didn't care for this movie but it did make laugh (once) but the characters felt slightly off, Lisa's character was kind of annoying which is a shame because I adore the actress but I felt like they could have done something else with this but they did what they did lol
Been very intrigued with this one since I first saw a trailer a few months back. Glad you liked it 👍 we might just see it tonight
We liked it a lot
@@scottgeraci5751my dads friends are the cairnes brothers
You are very creative. I enjoyed the video--and the pie!
Bro this movie was awesome and I’m a huggggggeeeee horror fan. I mean the jump scares were perfect non expected and the story was not bad at all. The fact that they expanded more on how other faiths can have something to do with such a strong demon made plenty of sense. And is also true in life. Demons don’t just come from catholic faith. So this movie was perfect it was heart wrenching and you can feel almost close to the characters. This is a terrible review I’m sorry
Still didn’t work for me, but I’m glad it did for you.
What a bonafide experiment!
What's full of Bones and shakes at the bottom of the ocean? ... a nervous wreck Happy Pi Day! Just reread Hitchhiker's Guide as my 42nd of the year, don't forget to bring a towel.
I always know where my towel is!
Yet another comment, sorry. About the political allegory I got the impression that the adults were the ruling class and the kids were the working class. The babysitter was neither being a sort of intellectual/academia class that was sort of in between the first two classes. Another book that was compared to LGPatA is The Collector (1963) by John Fowles where a shy man wins a lottery and buys a house in the country. He collects butterflies and develops an obsession with a pretty art student whom he kidnaps and keeps, in a sense, as a part of his collection. Maybe similar political allegory applies where the lottery win has propelled the man from the working class to the ruling class and the art student is in that middle intellectual class. LGPatA has multiple layers to it. Political, psychological, and even philosophical and why there is so much which can be unpacked.
I've now seen information about the interview with Mendal Johnson where de does state that the adult/parents are the conservative class and the babysitter is in the liberal (academic, intellectual) class. I guess the kids are the mixed political working class and not happy with either of the other classes. The conservative class is well protected but the liberal class is not so the academic case babysitter gets the brunt of the kids (working class) displeasure. The interview goes to to MJ wanting to have saved the babysitter but couldn't figure out how without loosing the powerful message(s) of the story. And this is why the story is not just torture-porn and has much more depth to it. Like Lord of the Flies.
Also as far as the LGPatA goes there was a psychology at Stanford Univ. in 1971 where a prison environment was simulated and some college students were divided into prisoners and guards. The experiment was ended early when some of the guards were abusing the prisoners. Now these were college students. Imagine what younger kids would do. I wonder if the author drew upon this in writing his story. And there was another infamous 1961 Univ. Psychology experiment the Milgram where the researchers were surprised how many subjects would inflict what they thought were harmful shocks on someone when told to do so by a lab coat wearing authority figure. In LGPatA the two older teenagers would have been the authorities and the younger 3 basically did what they were told. So there is a basis for motive there.
Very true. I’ve read a lot about those studies (and some similar ones), and that’s why I think this book gets the psychology so right. Whether he studied or just had an intuitive understanding, he wrote a book that rings horrifyingly true.
@@Phobophile I disagree with those readers who complain that the story is not realistic. I think it is all too plausible and realistic.
At least for the 1970s time period. And now with cell phones it would be near impossible to keep the traveling parents from directly talking to the babysitter.
@@henrytjernlund that’s true. The invention of cell phones may have been the single greatest disruption to horror tropes ever. I suppose one could still question why they wouldn’t check in on a landline but by the same token, parents of the past weren’t as obsessively protective (or even overprotective) as they are today.
