Australian Igloo: 28 nights out in the Australian backcountry.

My partner Indi and I set off on an adventure to the Australian high country. Inspired by the Inuits traditional shelter and building methods, we aimed to build an Igloo as a basecamp shelter to live out of while we explore and ski nearby terrain. While the 2023 snow season in Australia turned out to be far from an above average season in terms of snow fall, we still managed to successfully bui...
Making a Clay Pumpkin on the pottery wheel
zhlédnutí 183Před 5 měsíci
In this Video I attempt to make a clay pumpkin. It was going pretty well until the top started to sag a little too much. In an attempt to save it, I flipped it upside down on the bat. A little too much fiddling causes the base to crack and eventually there was no going back! In the end it was a fun project and good learning experience, leave a comment if you'd like to see a second attempt!

so beautiful!!!!!
Amazing vid! Thank you so much! Do you know where I can find these plastic/silicone rings you self made?
Amazing so cute I❤it
This is so beautiful! 😻 I have just thrown my very first mini vase on my mini wheel and was wondering how to turn the bottom. Never thought of making a mini chuck! Amazing work!🎉
Just picked up same wheel and am pulling down this weekend to do exactly this, good video
Thanks! I have a 1973 Shimpo. Works great but y'know...
The small belt in my ring one keeps coming off while the machine is running. Not sure what to do in this case? Is it the cone? Or is it the belt? Is it the cone positioning? What should be fixed? What would you suggest? Thanks
Watching your video was like meditating! Such beauty, all round! I have a wheel like yours in the UK, but lack the skills to fix it. I'm going to keep searching for someone who can help me though! I was also hopeful that the direction could be changed, so thank you for confirming!
Hey! The part number you shared shows the bushings are at a 60 angle, the ones you installed look to have no angle on them, did you experience any issues with them?
Great job
Thanks for making this video. I have a Shimpo Aspire and it feels like it has a tiny 'jump', but I can't figure out what the heck is wrong with it.
Thanks for the great video. I have a wheel the same as this one. It still works well but is very noisy. Where would I get new bearings from?
Awesome! I got one of these a year or so ago, also a 1977, from my local high school that they gave me because it stopped working. It has exactly the same problem of the motor not engaging the wheelhead. I'm so glad that I found this and can finally fix it, as my multiple phone calls to Shimpo weren't very effective.
I saw one for sale on FB for a $1000 dollars..all new bearings..wondering if its a good investment? Whats your opinion please?
Wow❤
It was perfect at 6:55. Do it again!
Good improv!
Thank you for this video! I have an old Tetlow wheel that needs bearings and a rubber (there isn’t currently on on the drive wheel at all 😳), but other than that, the motor and assembly is fine. Struggling to find someone who can fix it but I don’t want to give up! It is worth the work to restore.
You're welcome. It's always worth repairing them, feel free to send me an email and we can discuss further. Cheers
@@forgedandthrownthanks, I will do.

Subbed :) Just bought one of these for my wife an old 1981 model, great video exactly what I was looking for, this one runs but not perfect, just wanted to ask where you sourced your parts from? Thanks
Thank you, I got them from a bearings wholesale shop, I believe they are available online. Try searching for part number: RZEAB202060
thanks mate @@forgedandthrown
@forgedandthrown7317 which store did you buy the new rubber buffings?
I got them from a bearings shop. They’re available online too I believe. Try search the part number “RZEAB202060”
Magnificent!
Complimenti!
Looks good. Well done.
Thanks!
Thats amazing!
Thank you
What kind of thread are those rubber mounts? 3:50
From memory they were m6 threads. This is the part original number for them. RZEAB202060
Did it survive firing?
Haven’t fired it yet! Think I will leave unglazed and fire to 1280c
Very nice 👍🙂
Thank you!
I only found you guys a few days ago but I'm already such a huge fan of your work. The wild clay video was super inspirational!
Thanks so much!
'Promosm' 💔
As someone who likes making thing from scratch literally I’ve made iron tools by collecting magnetite, and hematite ore and processed it into iron metal I’m glad u got a chance to do something similar
That clay is a great color, I hope it comes through after firing
Great artwork 😊
This was soooo helpful! Thanks!!!
Could I have a spot of 🫖 tea please? Great demo!
Nice video, I like to watch these DIY's when I'm up late drinking beer to get motivated. You did a fine job.
Can it be fired though? Thats the real test
Amazing I will try this
Loved the video. Thank you. I recently bought an old Venco in slightly better shape than that one and it needs some fixing, which I’d like to give it myself if I can. My first issue is understanding where the cone on the motor should be sitting when the wheel is at rest. My second issue is how to adjust the motor up or down so it sits in the right place: I can’t see how to make an adjustment. Do you know of any videos or photos or instructional material that might help? Cheers!
Hey Geoff, I can help you out with some photos/ videos. Feel free to contact me via Instagram or Facebook.
That would be great. Thank you so much. But I’m afraid I’m too tech-stupid to find you on Instagram or Facebook (I’ve searched on both). Could I ask you to link me please? Ta!

Wowwww...you are simply amazing🥺🥺🥺🥺😊
Somehow i am expection the bearing steel to be harder than the 1084 after quench.
😢so those old wheels can be rebuilt, what a beautiful piece of art your mechanical tech skills are. Wow I would enjoy basic electrical work to rewire the power cord to the motor. Loved your throwing best of all
such attention to detail. I love it, and must try myself. Thanks, you are very talented.
