The funny thing is, it's believed Trinidad was once joined to what is now Venezuela and is in the south American continental shelf, it is not part of the lesser Antilles volcanic arc. (new world encyclopedia, sciencedirect, biodiversityorgtt) That info might make some uncomfortable but it is what it is.

I was today years old when i found out Barbados doesn’t touch the Caribbean sea. My family always calls the water on the west side of the island the sea. I was always told the sea was on the west coast and the Atlantic was on the west coast.

I agree with him. Its not. It got nothing to do with hate at all. Guyana is a South American Country not a Caribbean Island. Belize isn't Caribbean either. Its just not geographically factual. I learned in school that the Caribbean is an archipelago of Islands. Guyana doesn't fit there. Now is Guyana culturally Caribbean, well yes. But if a bunch of Africans take inhabit one of the Hawaiian islands, is that Island now a part of Africa since it will be culturally African and not Hawaiian? No, its still factually a Hawaiian island even though the people on the island are all Africans and practice African culture.

I support the Mom & Pop stores. I enjoy the conversation in the Mom & Pop stores plus I buy less processed foods. Please continue the conversation so much more education is needed with this subject.

The Chinese from time gone by have always controlled the "Salt goods" and groceries in Guyana. Also, the reason why they could sell cheapest is because as a clandestine people, the Chinese Association imports wholesale and then distribute to their peeps. Other salt goods shops had to buy from Weiting and Richter, J.P Santos and a few others. So, nothing new that the Chinese control the market share. As far as them operating in the low income neighborhoods, please go to New York and see who own the restaurants, liquor stores in the low income neighborhoods.

So very true i travel to many regions in this country and I've seen the effects of these Chinese supermarkets on our local shops many of them were forced to shut their doors down😢

Passport office, GRA, GPO, Georgetown public hospital just to name a few they have the same system in place so be prepared to waste a whole day when visiting these places😢😢

I hold dual citizenship for canada and guyana. Herd a canadian citizen needs a visa to enter Suriname but a guyanese passport does not need a visa.i am a guyanese by birth and I downloaded the application on line and will submitt the completed form with the fees to the guyana consulate in Toronto which will take about 3 months .

Great reporting what happened with all the billion dollar budget for the Home Affairs ministry. It's a shame the Minister and the Commissioner should be fired. Also the workers of the Passport Office.

With so much technology,in this cemtury,it is só much easy to resolve,all the goverment have to do is to create an on line system , fill out the forms,on LINE, print the receipt,then go the bank pay It,then the same sistem,is going to tell you when you have to Go to the passport office to take in your documents,along with the receipt of the payment.

As a matter of fact all the government agencies are a mess and a big flap . Under President Granger time and the person who was in-charge Mr Felix! There were qualify and prompt services! With in three days you have your passport but they have some unscrupulous and empty uncouth pigs working there

In2 weeks I get my passport 👌 people like to complain at least there are chair to sit the only complain is the fan on 2 was working and old people get first priority

Not true I went Guyana passport office last month to renew my passport I reach there 530am by 930 I was finished the work fast 😊 and 300 people daily are accepted

Are these Chinese importers getting off the hook on import duties thus enabling them to undersell the people who are in compliment with tax and import regulations?

The system is as bad as it is because the people who actually have the power to change it aren't affected by it so it's not a priority for them. GRA is another garbage place.
