Hi my name is Rosie, I'm 26 and my life is a bit confusing so i'm writing this lol.
To make it easy:
- I was born in Northern Italy, in the region of Veneto
- My whole family still lives there (mom, dad and my little sister Marty)
- I moved to Toronto, Canada, at 19 all alone to ✨find myself✨ (spoiler: it didn't work, i got more lost if anything).
So, I live half my life in Italy and half my life in Canada.
Also, my mom is from Moldova (country in Eastern Europe) and my dad is from Calabria (region in Southern Italy) and both my grandmas still live there. So you’ll occasionally see me going there as well.
I hope this clears things up a bit.. or maybe makes them more confusing lol.
I don’t know, i tried 😄

What I eat in a week at my NONNA's house in ITALY 🐟
NONNA'S COOKBOOK → www.rosiemaio.com
I can't believe this is already the third episode of my series "What I eat in a week in Italy at my Nonna's house" - time really does fly 🥹 I added 3 extra days to this episode as a little "thank you" for all the love you've shown since the beginning of this journey ❤️ I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed eating all the yummy food my Nonna prepared for us!
This video was filmed in August 2023-I'm so sorry it took me so long to post it but I wanted to share the cookbook at the same time, which took me a while to perfect! It wasn't easy because Nonna doesn't follow any specific measurements when she cooks. Each time she makes a recipe, it turns out a little different from the last. I had to guess all the ingredient quantities by eye and test each recipe about 10-15 times before it came out tasting like hers 😅. But it was a labor of love, and I’m so happy we made it happen.
This video is a bit different from my previous ones because I experimented with a more "cinematic" style. Chris (@chiyoks) did the color grading for the whole video and I'm so happy with the final result! Be sure to check out his channel; he creates stunning cinematic videos, and I look up to his filming/editing style so much!
Hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching 🙏🏻
Love,
Rosie

In this video you’ll live a typical day in the life of my mom: a restaurant owner in the city of Padova, Italy. My mom’s biggest passion is cooking and owning these restaurants is her dream come true. She LOVES her job. The first restaurant is a cafeteria and we bought it more than 10 years ago. It’s only open at lunch, Monday to Friday. But because it is so spacious, we use it to host private ...

This video made me so much happy! Thank you for sharing it ❤
I used to watch your videos alllll the time when I was pregnant you helped me get thru so much stress and anxiety bless you and your family Rosie 💘
My family lives in Calabria too.
I didn't know you lived in Toronto. In your opinion which restaurant has the most authentic Italian food. I can't afford a trip to Italy but a go train to Toronto is do able
The south italy looks just gorgeous i wish you could upload more videos about italy like that 🫶🏻
adopt me pls :(
delicious food 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Why does Nona put eggs in every dish?
I have never been to Italy. Now I want to go.
I looove this cinematic style !! So comfortable to watch 😊
Hello Rosie and family, I love your mom! She is such a great heart and soul. I saw the Q&A you did with her. I hope to visit you sometimes in holidays, greetings from The Netherlands! Ciao
When watching your videos, i always think that you and your fam have more than 24 hr in a day , especially when you were at your nonna’s house 🫣
Nice video! Amazing how they eat so much sweets but still live longer. No eggs, no sausage, no avocado, no salmon. Just sugar lol
❤
Italian food is really good! But I can tell that Nonna makes it better 😊
when someone asks me who is my comfort youtuber , i would say rosie maio a thousand times. i have watched your videos a hundred times and i would watch it a million times more. i forget all the stress ( i am an IAL student) that i have and enter a world of honest comfort and happiness. it eases my mind. keep it up and i can't wait for moree!!! ♥♥♥
What camera do you use?

This is such a pretty video
We love nonna and her videos ❤

Italian gossips are definitely so juicy I can not understand language but the her voice is amazing perfecto 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻😂
Step 1 - Marry an Italian girl Step 2 - Eat pasta Step 3 - Take a nap Step 4 - Repeat step 2 and 3 over and over until we die Off topic here but what is that Italian city that looks like you’re in Germany or Austria?
Omg feel like Im in algeria we do the same things🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇩🇿🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
I really like how informative, natural and wholesome your videos are. I am from Zimbabwe and cornmeal (the white one only) is our staple food so for breakfast we have cornmeal porridge, lunch cornpaste like the Moldovans eat with meat, greens, or sour thick milk and also for dinner. We also eat chicken feet but always cooked for a long time in a sauce and it's my mum and I's favourite bonding thing to eat together. I live in Vancouver far away from my family and from my home country but I love going to the East European store here and buying cornmeal and corn flour to make cornbread. Keep doing what you do, its sooooo awesome. Oh and the handwashing at the wedding, we do a similar thing and it's the bride who goes to her inlaws to wash their hands and also her husband too - the husband & his family pay for the wedding and he also has paid the bride price - traditionally it was cows and even now the groom can actually buy live cows to be sent to the bride's family. Eastern European traditions have some similarities to us. Interesting!!!!!!
God willing, may God bless you, your mother is a truly wonderful woman. I envy you, take good care of her, because it is rare now to find a wonderful mother like her.
I'd always come back to this channel whenever i feel lost or sad bcs i can escape from my real life for awhile. I wish to have this kind of life🩷 and i'm happy for Rosie🩷🫶 thank you for existing🩷🩷
Your mom is right, sheep milk is terrible, and sheep cheese is worse. Adding wine to it just makes it worse. Goat milk and cheese is delicious however. Also, good posca needs some ginger and only a small amount of vinegar to taste, and maybe just a tiny pinch of salt to round out the flavor. Or at least that's the posca/switchel I make as a summer drink. Tastes great and is very refreshing, especially chilled. I really enjoyed the video by the way. Also, love the rotating wood-fired bread oven. . . . now I feel like baking bread again.
Ciao, what is the red wine in green bottles? Is it some type of house wine?
“Kocsonya” is not a Romanian dish 😊
This reminds me of my grandparents village, I miss it so much. Thank you for re-awakening the most beautiful simple life and memories, I really wish I could relive them again ❤️🩹 Cherish what you have while you still have it 💖
Her dad looks like Major Rawls from The Wire
Your videos at your grandma's house are like a hug to me, I really love them. Your channel made me more interested in Italy and Italian food. I'm from Brazil and watching your videos I relate a lot because of the family relationship with my uncles and cousins, the delicious food my grandmother prepares and the good times I have when I visit her.
Welcome back Rosie...really miss your story
You eat too much 😂 Your old enough to help prep food for your mom instead sitting waiting for a huge plate
It's crazy how her videos reminds me of the days i spent summer at my grandma's house in Algeria ,even the food is so similar, Olive oil, Tomatoes, watermelon, fish and ice-cream all the time
love this and cant wait to check out the cookbook! i think your videography, editing and colours skills have improved. The food always looks amazing but this video in particular looks so elevated. Theres some shots outside of the food that look like art pieces. ps. the food is always art!
Amazing person! Love her! So many life lessons in one conversation...
I laughed so hard! Also, the Romanian girls were very refreshing!
i want whole netflix series on this ,i never commented before but im doing it now anyways i just love to watch your videos soo m
So are flight from Moldova to Vietnam banned due to Ukraine Russia conflict as well?

I hope my Italian isn’t too rusty!! Sending love light and hugs!!❤❤
