They still can with a roll of a 10 or a Gandalf rune on the Feat Die. What they can't do, is spend the extra successes to get a lower number to a 10 on the Feat die!

The video is a tad bit outdated, as it has the old rules and not the most updated ones that reflect the most recent printing (3rd). But, the Time Limit, or amount of tries, is equal to the either: 3 successes if the Introduction Roll is a failure, or 4 + 1 for each Tengwar(6) is rolled if the Introduction Roll is a Success. The Resistance (or lowest difficulty) has no bearing on the amount of tries you have, just that it sets how many successes you need to get! So for example, if you need 9 successes (Resistance 9 or the hardest difficulty), and fail the Introduction Roll, you only get three attempts or rolls to get those 9 successes! If you passed the Introduction Roll and got an extra two Tengwar(6's on the d6) you'd get 4+2=6 attempts to get those 9 Success to pass the council. Hopefully that makes sense!

Definitely an error on my part! Would have to go back over my notes and see what I did there lol. Note to self: do a more thorough check before uploading!

You might find some over in the discord resource channel someone made. But taking from the PDF and making them yourself is just as easy. I basically make mine in Word.

My take as well. Great change of pace and it matches the first chapters of the Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring. Intentional as to match that feel and look of the source material!

It’ll be a great adventure anytime one would run this. And even if you’re waiting for a group the fact they have the specific solo rules for it, is great! Also surprised that you were able to get in there on a late pledge!

@@RyanoftheNorth I'm waiting to hear a response, but they took my money and told me "Thank you for your order". I also just ordered the main rules, starter set and GM screen from Zatu today and it's not been despatched on the same day, despite paying for next day delivery. Fingers crossed all round!

It is. There is a bit of a process in you as the player to “not read ahead”. Check out my show notes if you haven’t already (link in the description). I’ve only adapted the Telling Table from Strider Mode for The One Ring. The game itself can be played with just a DM and 1 player so it’s a natural fit for solo play in my opinion.

@@Phenixfox75 I've just used the one set from the Starter Box. Unlike say Alien, you don't really need the extra set (although let's be serious, always good to have more math rocks! lol)

Thanks! I've only played Mork Borg a few times, and ran it once using the online dungeon generator and it was great fun. But then it sat on the shelf for almost 2 years. Was rearranging my bookshelf and decided to try it solo. And yes, poor Gotven should've been called Uber the way he just walked in with fresh "food"! 😁

Thanks so much for the feedback and watching the video! At the time when I started, this was my first foray into solo-play, and I didn't want it to just be a couple of lines of rolls here and there. So decided to put a story around the play. It's been great fun and glad people are finding it so!

The PDF of the Alpha for Kickstarter backers was released 3/20/24, but as for general sale assuming it’ll be the same as for the TOR version which will be later in the fall I believe.

Thanks for the comment! I think the lore and write ups, even the adversary and NPC descriptions could easily be ported over. You would have to find similar creatures, etc for whatever rpg you’re running it in, but I don’t think that would be too daunting! Besides. It’s a large book so you’ll have time between chapters to find the right monsters :)

Thanks so much, was hoping the tension translated well! Yes, those are heroforge mockups that I screenshot, use Paint3D to remove the background and then place into Clipchamp. Clipchamp then has the comic book feature that creates that visual! I'm really liking how Alien is playing, so definitely will be trying out more of the cinematic adventures!

Dwarves I’m this example are Prosperous. Then flip to Page 72 and it goes through what each means and gives you the treasure point threshold! Flaws are for when your character goes down their Shadow Path after experiencing Bouts of Madness. Check under the “Shadow” entry in the Loremaster section. I cover Shadow in a later video!
