    My embarrassing intro to Strider Mode came a few months after we'd gotten all the physical copies of the kickstarter. I wanted to play Strider Mode, and spent two days hunting high and low for wherever the hell I left my copy, because I knew I'd read it, I just couldn't remember where I'd put it. It took a gentle "there, there" pat on the head from my group to remind me that there wasn't, and indeed never had been, a hard copy 😅. If I had a brain, I'd be dangerous. Great video, thanks 😀

      Definitely know that feeling lol. Like I briefly said in the video, it wasn't until I happened to look for some reason down on the list of stretch goals that #30 (the last) was Strider Mode... as I had just at the time only looked at the hard copies... then I was mad downloading all the pdf's and reviewing everything else. You'd swear I was a Took!

    Me and a friend are the sole survivors of our old band of adventurers. You know the stories.. women, jobs, children and the occasional arrow to the knee and now we are only two, stubbornly trudging on and facing ever worsening odds. We have long played a character each, while one of us did the story telling. Recently we started to incorporate solo player rules, not for the One Ring yet though, to add that extra spice of surprise for both and it is great. I really appreciate your work always putting that extra layer of inspiration in.
    By the way and on a different note, I just watched some videos on West Marches style of campaigns and one of them took Middle Earth as a bad place for a West Marches campaign and it just struck me how an absolutely amazing place Middle Earth would be for a West Marches style campaign in the One Ring system. Several groups of heroes trying to obstruct the Enemys plans and machinations. Sharing the same safe place and maybe the same Patron. It could even be placed in the War of the Ring. The heroes trying to scout out the enemy, playing important roles along side the Fellowship. There could even be a West Marshes style dwarven campaign in the Halls of Khazad Dum, if the players can play towards their inevitable doom...

      Thanks for the feedback! I was one of those who had put down the dice and after many moves around the country (and continent in fact) finally got back into TTRPG 5-6 years ago thanks to a couple of old gaming friends. so yeah totally get the feel for the attrition!
      I haven't played West Marches, but from what I gather, that style is well suited for TOR, in fact from what you describe that's essentially the overarching theme. Yeah you have canon to wiggle around, but, there's still forces of evil at work outside of the main "Ring" plot that can be played out where you battle evil and thwart their plans, etc. Tales from the Lone-Lands touches on this element! And going to wage a guess so will the Moria supplement soon to be out!
      Again thanks for watching and the support!

    Awesome video! Ive always really appreciated strider mode, I've got 2 ongoing campaigns going, one of which meets monthly. Im loremaster of both so don't get to play as a player. Strider mode is a really awesome substitute, it also really helps flesh out the world in my head in a more defined way, so when i am Lore master i can paint a more consistent picture of middle earth.

      Thanks for the comment! Strider mode was what helped me wrap my head around the rules and first time solo roleplaying. Definitely helps flesh out details of an adventure you want to run for other players. Or at least tweak things here and there. And for times when there’s an inevitable period of no gaming group wise… relieves that gaming itch!

      And that was the intent! I realized and hope everyone who plays, that there's no right or wrong way to play it, and it's as individual as, well the, individual lol. Figure out what works because when it does, opens up a lot of adventuring!

      @@RyanoftheNorth can you use strider mode to play a 1 player and 1 GM version of the starter set? Or is strider mode only able to be used in reference to the main rulebook?

    • @RyanoftheNorth
      @RyanoftheNorth  Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@MofOptics strider mode can be used for any of the supplements. There is the Co-op idea where if there is only the two of you, you both play characters and then use the tables in Strider mode to be the impartial Loremaster. Both of you would then come up with the ideas together on how to interpret the results from the tables and move the story along.
      But nothing stopping using the strider mode tables and rules for a LM and Player combination.
      Hope that answers/helps
