My dad used to take me to the Lindisfarne Xmas concerts at City Hall from 1982 onwards. A magical memory for me. Fast forward to 2022 and I took my 10 year old son to experience the same thing. A very special night.

If the behaviour in this footage makes you feel indignant and outraged then please let me know and I'll send you 10p to call someone who cares. I needed to know why they don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Cummins M11, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Train and 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it more Larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner LG1200, Cummins M11 and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 77 Octagon and Every 37 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.14 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 147MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 147MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 18 Tonnes for all of those 147MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are told!!!!!!! Its brilliant to see the spotters at 1:50 all sat on the platform, there for the day. And that 40086 flying in and out of the station, no messing about, the drivers and 2nd knew it all so well. Every train that ran was full of spotters and hanging out of the carriage having the best time - 4:50 is brilliant!! Exuberance and not a middle finger from any of them! Its great that on a line coming down in HST's the 40s were the interest-point. Thank goodness for Mel and your Dad. That cab footage out of Lime St 19:57 is amazing!! In an 87? And then the double header film alongside - I bet that was all arranged on the quiet! 25:01 bloody joyous! Those two 25s look like theyre struggling after 35 mins of watching powerful 40s!

    Love those DMUs 6:05 - coupled up to a 'new' one lol 12:33 really is fantastic! I grew up in suburban Surrey so it was all DMU's and EMU's so we didn't travel on much diesel hauled stuff. I think the 40s are becoming a favourite. 15:55 day before my 12th birthday and 22:30 my sisters 16th birthday!

    I seem to recall something similar, 31132 vo OC was on 1E10, the 07.00 Bristol to Leeds, I did it from Chesterfield when someone who was flailing in Bradway tunnel between Chesterfield and Sheffield clipped his hand on a class 47 hauled train heading South. I didn't see the chap at Sheffield as I had a tight connection there, but apparently the class 47 driver reported hitting something in the tunnel, this would be 81 or 82.

    As the song says "those were the days my friend I thought they'd never end" we all took it for granted, mk1s, loco hauled trains, relief trains at bank holidays instead of cancellations or bus replacement, vacuum braked overnight trains, adex, mystery excursions, I could go on, but they did end. I did 40181 Manchester to Sheffield on that day which was 40 years ago this Summer, 2024. Thanks for posting, brings back happy memories.

    Nice, I grew up by the Lydgate viaduct in the 60's and 70's, the 40's could be heard from a long way off with their turbines whining after short thrashes. Every bit as good as the steam engines and even better when they were banked up with steam.

    Wonderful nostalgia, never to be repeated. So much variety, and comfortable seats! .Compare the difference between a Voyager and a Mark 1! I travelled on a 221 from Bristol Parkway to Birmingham N.S. recently, in 50 years of train travel, I've never been so uncomfortable for so long. The seat was like an ironing board. It may be my imagination, but the Mark 1 passenger coach at 2.30 looks like it's riding on Mark 3 bogies., or at the very least they're surely non-standard.

    40 152 not required, working in tandem with 40 086 on the RESL Royal Scot Friday 28th December 1984. What a beast.

  • @vicsams4431
    @vicsams4431 Před 6 měsíci

    28:16. 40 028 "Samaria" was my first ever 40 from Derby to Newcastle and from Carlisle to Derby on the RESL Easter Highlander in April 1984. A tour that saw one Class 25 explode at St Albans (the carden shaft came away from the generator, and when the driver pressed restart, it went bang !), insufficient brake force descending Drumoichter Summit (having witnessed four brake applications and the speed rise from 60 mph (we were only allowed to do 40 mph) to 85 mph, I alerted the signalman at Blair Athol we were a run away, and he passed the rogue train to Ballinluig, to Pitchlochry, to Dunkeld, to Stanley Jc, to Perth using bell code 7-5-5 train running away in right direction, and putting signals to danger. We passed 17 signals at danger and came to a stand 42 miles later ! Then a second 25 caught fire at St Albans (no I don't know what St Albans has against 25s). The only time I had double headed 40s was on the RESL Royal Scot on Friday 28th December 1984 between Crewe and Polmadie and back to Crewe with 40 086 + 40 152. The tour started at Euston with an 85 to Crewe, a pair of 20s from Polmadie to Glasgow Central, a single 26 on Load 13 back to Polmadie and an 86 from Crewe to Euston. David Maxey of Rail (Enthusiast) Magazine gave the tour a filthy review calling it a Cod Fish Finger Tour, as the train was a tad cold. My compartment had one inch thick ice INSIDE the window, the full height and breadth. There was snow encrusted on the outside, having gone through 6ft snow drifts, and to open the carriage doors was a two man effort, of someone holding the door lock open, and me putting my boot to it ! Upon arrival at Carlisle, the Area Manager said He reckoned we could reach Glasgow, but we might not get home... The tour sold out in 5 days ! Just imagine, a pair of 40s on the WCML ! Hellfire. Originally booked for 9 coaches, the first mailshot on the Monday revealed we had enough tickets sold to fill 9 coaches, so we rang BR and asked for 2 more coaches. By Tuesday, we had sold 11 coaches, so we rang BR again and asked for another 2 coaches. Wednesday's post revealed we had sold 13 coaches, so we rang BR and got another two coaches. By Thursday, we had sold 15 coaches, so we rang BR again and was told that 17 coaches were the limit ! People said RESL tours were always full, well you had to book within 5 days or you stood no chance !

    I worked as a Guard at Buxton from 1973 onwards, and remember the 40s there, and especially 40106 among others. Consequently, I was in a position to get quite a few rides on these - and also 25s, 45s, 46s and 47s - when working fully fitted freight trains.

    Good old days. I started spotting in the late 70s. Love 40s. Easy to forget how rundown the stations were in the 80s.

    OUTSTANDING locos the 40's powerful and superb. I wish they had kept some around as they did with the 37's for station pilots.
