  • The Pennine Summits railtour on 29th September 1984 at Copy Pit, with 25060 and 25235 at Hebden Bridge on the Worth Valley Wanderer the same day, followed by 40181 at Bolton on vans on 9th November 1984.

    Nice video I grew up with the class 40s a awesome loco I was always late for school because I wanted to see the class 40 leave my local station in the morning LOL happy days

    Nice, I grew up by the Lydgate viaduct in the 60's and 70's, the 40's could be heard from a long way off with their turbines whining after short thrashes. Every bit as good as the steam engines and even better when they were banked up with steam.

    The only time l saw double headed class 25s was at March Station in the late 70s with a loco hauled service from Harwich P.Q. to either Manchester or Sheffield .There was about ten minutes standing time so a bit of time to soak up the atmosphere and breath in the fumes ! particular poignant as everyone knew these were the last days of loco hauled operation and services on the GN/GE joint line to Spalding would be DMUs only

      Yeah, they added the two Manchester Pullman coaches to the set because of demand if I remember correctly.

    That looked a slog at Copy Pit for two Class 40s. Looked like some wheelslip going on. Mind you, they did have 14 coaches on.
