Hi đ my name is Jonathan and this channel is all about helping you find the right everyday carry and travel gear to reduce friction in everyday life, and on your travels.
Before CZcams I spent many years sourcing, testing and reviewing products from around the world for my retail chains The Gadget Shop and RED5 with over 100 high profile UK stores and working with some of the biggest names in UK retail. I also co-founded a product development business and following that a health-tech business.
I now focus fully on having fun finding new great gear and ideas to share with you on the channel to hopefully educate and entertain.
I am joined by Jamie and we work together with the aim of producing new content each week.

Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Many suppliers are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes sent a product by a supplier which I may include if the product fits planned content and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. The product needs to be worthy of a review and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the content in any way. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many product offers are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review. There is no cost to you and in some cases discounts can be obtained via the link or via an included code.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
Replying to Comments:
I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. This is not just for me as the creator, it is a valuable source of information for all readers of the comments. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes significant time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! So my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live for the first few hours at least, and beyond that when possible. I'll see how that works out đ

Cleaning a flat bottle?
What do they still use flathead screws for?
Yep sounds about right. Is it just me or do others hate the looking off camera "B"Roll that so many tubers are doing at the moment... I guess it was a camera maker that said it was a great idea...
Don't know about any ideas, but really love your content!
Smooth, solid action. Geared wire cutters with replacable carbide inserts. 1/4" extended hex socket. Large, heavy, sharp snips. Utility blade holder. 130 mm length for full hand grip. Heavy lever/blade. Easily rebuildability. Top quality steel. A premium mix of the GOAT and the Roxon would be worth the price.
8:45 the forbidden dental floss...
You can quickly and easily detect a piece of fentanyl in an urban environment with that handy magnifying glass.
7:34 Try the Blazer Micro Torch from Japan instead of the BIC Mini - if there is room. Itâs a 1500 degree flame.
Love love love your channel and the review. The Tom toc sleeve is now available in a 13 inch as well which is what I got for my iPad 13 m4.
Excellent video. Many thanks!!!
I bought two large Victorinox travel suitcases (different models) 5 years ago, for several slightly longer airplane trips. They just seemed like decent options for me at the time (also having a history of various SAK's myself). Been quite happy with them, they're as big as they get within baggage allowances and sturdy. The only issue was that one of the two suitcases' wheels absolutely desintegrated on me over time (through regular use, including on muddy terrain). I looked up where to get replacement wheels; apparently their policy is you just send them an e-mail with your address and the exact model number that's hidden somewhere inside the case, and they send you a set of replacement wheels. Free of cost. And they did just that. Had to replace the wheels manually which was a bit of work, but it now rolls super smoothly again. Personally, I've been quite happy with their service there, and I don't really mind them having moved in that market.
I see your point, and agree 100%.
Do they have a Swiss army knife that will pass TSA and most airline security screenings?
The Bond has been updated, I got one from Go Outdoors fro ÂŁ40.80 and it has had the blade issue resolved, but boy was it tight, needed to buy the toools to adjust the opening and closing to tune it in, but then also used them on my Rebar. Cheers
Great collaboration I must say I am bemused as to how exact our penchant for tools / gadgets are similar and scarily so đđ I either have almost exactly the same stuff, and the bits I currently donât are on a pick up list to get. Definitely subbed great content. đ€đđ»
A compact torch lighter, a thin flat magnet that's sticky on one side for that blue work tray and maybe some heat-shrink tubing for standard electrical cords. Should be able to fit those without ruining the esthetic.
I have also had many SAKs over the years. I got my first some 40 odd years ago as a Boy Scout. I remember fiddling with that knife all the time pulling out the various tools and finding things to use them on (at 11 years old, however, there wasnât not much need for the corkscrew). Since then Iâve always had a SAK lying around ready to duty. Iâve embraced other knives as my EDC, but I always seem to have that trusted red knife around. In fairness to your comments, Iâve not purchased a new knife in several years as the model I have is still kicking beautifully. But it seems like so many other brands, Victorinox has lost what ultimately made them what they were in favor of more flash in the pan gimmicks that might be profitable in the short run but ultimately proved undermining for the brand overall.
i would like to see some more practical edc. flask is a nice touch in this video, I would appreciate a video just on flasks
Missing a basic scraper. There are some 2 in 1 utility knives/scrapers that use the same disposable blade for the 2 functions on the 1 tool to replace the ox retractable
Tool stak is the only one that is interesting at all.
I would take Victorinox blades over Leatherman ANYDAY! I have had my Champion for ove 20 years and I will not give it up. The scissors are 100% better than the Leatherman for Sure!
Never forget a mirror (two is better for back-sides), pen light, and a magnifying device. When you are treating yourself, you have to be able to see what you are treating.
Walther ppk would be on theme for this one!
Love alox. I have a red Pioneer alox that I bought in Göttingen Germany in 1974.
A tool that is needed is a blade for opening plastic packages. The Gerber Dime has one and is used often. Much safer than a blade â Emergency Room visit.
I just got one of these, and for the reasons you covered here. I do wish they would replace the hook with the sharpened awl- other than that I love it.
Thanks for the video đ
Thank you. I really enjoy your videos! I am trying to pull together a personal item carry-on bag (one that will fit under the seat in front so, 18 x 14 x 8) with a collection of nifty travel accessories with an emphasis on safety. This will be a graduation gift for my niece. I want to do everything I can to encourage her to travel! I would love it if you would do a video on this. My budget is about $200.
Something is so satisfying about seeing all these little gadgets stacked inside there.
This kit is brilliant!! I'm afraid to add up the cost of all the tools. đ
Black refill options for the pens. Both the small and big options. Seems like a super easy option to offer!
Love your vids but the lighting obscures some of the action.
I have the Alpaka Elements tech pouch and it works really well for me. Very happy with the internal orange material which makes it easy to find anything and it is also quite competitive in terms of price.
How much
Victorinox make the best potato peeler I have ever owned, had it for over 10 years and its still razor sharp.
$1 says that they hired a bunch of "diverse" employees to market the knife to women and LGBTQ people, because that became the corporate priority. Personally, I live in Portland, OR and am buying a wilderness kit for my girlfriend - so, hmm, do I buy a Victorinox Huntsmen - or one of the many Leathermens (built in my home town), or a Gerber (also built in my home town), or one of the dozens upon dozens of Chinese multitools? No doubt, Victorinox is the sexiest of multitool knives, it looks the best, it feels great in hand. It was the first knife I ever got from my Grandpa when I was just 5 years old. There's so much competition and innovation these days. I feel like at one point Mercator thought "We have the best German knife, no one will ever surpass this knife or desire anything else."
Wait! Are they no longer making knives??! Are the the Swiss Army knives that are on the market now the last units available?
I dont understand why Leatherman's standard sheaths/belt pouches are so small. Every one i have is very tight on the tool (Wave+) never mind trying to fit a pack of bits.
I have the Gerber multi tool. Been carrying it daily since I got it maybe ten years ago. Not sure how I lived without it.
Yep, Maglite has kind of died by the side of the road. Surefire came in and took over the Military/Law Enforcement and EDC for about 2 decades now. Most of the current lights out there now, can trace their lineage back to the 1st and 2nd gen Surefire Leds. I have carried the big Victornox for over 30 years now as part of my Military kit and edc. I have purchased over 20 to give as gifts. I would have to say if I am being honest with myself, its more for a sense of nostalgia than outright practicality. My Leatherman will see far more daily use overall. Maybe Victornox needs to split the company into Lifestyle brand types and us edc plain folks? A $500 price tag for the latest rainbow pride flag LGTPQLMNOP wont be where I spend my money.
Hitting the paper with the blade is not how you should test a knife.
Great vid, great info thank you very much. So sad to see victorinox go woke. I hope they give their head a shake and get back to what worked for years.
U have the best edc products selection. Love your channel
Backpack or messenger bag?
Sorry, but I just feel, they're not as Heavy Duty as they once were....not junk, but just lighter duty than they once were...You feel like, I better be careful using this, or it's going to break, snap and I'm going to get punctured by some broken piece!!!
Probably whatâs killed victorinox in England Is this countryâs knife crime laws! Absolutely over the top strict! Maybe the most draconian in the world! Even if the blade conforms to the allowed length, you had better have a very good reason for carrying it in public if stopped by police! Hence, nobody is going to purchase one anymore!
man, I so wish that they would innovate and experiment a bit. They could rework the scales, so that they fit more tools and so on .. I have so many ideas and 3D models actually, I would like to one day manufacture tools for swiss army knives and sell it. At least 10 new tools. Very practical tools at that... and people should have an option to build their own knife with their own choice of tools
Man, I would have a lot more money right now if you hadn't let me know about Metmo. Also, UK knife laws are absolutely bonkers to me, but I appreciate the care given to your viewers. Cheers.
Anyone else thinks it would be nice to have these modular so you can mount/dismount any tool you like ? They can make 1-2 standard widths of knives/scissors/etc and sell 200 tools for it. For example I only see one that has a fire starter but none that has both this and a file or scissors.
i had my first victorinox with 4, my 3 children got their first victorinox with 4 that there gives it away that i am not their target market (anymore) i now carry a leatherman and a endela as my go to tools. but outside of Switzerland Europe is pretty bad to travel with a knife and i often wish for a victorinox thatâll give me a little more excitement than the one Iâve had for over 40 years
