    Product Sourcing:
    When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Many suppliers are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
    I am sometimes sent a product by a supplier which I may include if the product fits planned content and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. The product needs to be worthy of a review and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the content in any way. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many product offers are politely declined.
    Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding.
    Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review. There is no cost to you and in some cases discounts can be obtained via the link or via an included code.
    If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
    Please consider subscribing and being notified to keep up to date with new video releases.

    Warning: Going through security at the Hong Kong airport I got pulled aside for a tiny (10 cm) multitool (whistle, fire striker, and window breaker tip). It seems they were really concerned that the window breaker was a weapon! Personally, I think a metal pen can be more dangerous. Anyway, I had no idea if they were going to arrest me. They took photos and did a lot of paper work, but after about ~40 min. they gave me a form of how to recover my tool. Ack. I had researched extensively and this tool wasn't on anyone's banned list, but be warned! Any tool with an exposed window breaker tip may give you a real headache.

    9:25 The biggest problem with the Sofirn IF24 is actually the rotary switch and the lack of a lock-out function, which is very susceptible to accidental contact. I once managed to almost puncture my favorite backpack with the black light stick. Another point mentioned is the unnecessary colorful party light and the lack of an option to switch directly to red light. For me, the Olight Arkfeld Pro is the best all-round lamp so far.

    We have several ponds in our area with mowed lawns atheistic nice. A women who is new to the area went missing recently- thinking foul play when actually it is was an accident. Police believed that trying to avoid a deer at night on a curved road, she jerked the wheel & car flew over the curb & submerged under one of those pond's which actually was 25feet deep. She was missing a couple days until they noticed skid marks.
    I often wondered if having a readily accessible window breaker & seat belt knife mounted near the dash board might have been able save herself.

    The Sofirn IF24 is close, but it needs to remember state, especially if I turn it off at each of the 3 options. Very frustrating. It is nice overall, but I find the Wurkkos HD01 flat light with green laser pointer a bit more fitting for what I typically need. Though the Sofirn does have a bigger battery that is swappable. Would be nice if either added a 365nm UV light. I find that really useful as well as a double clip.

    I wish the Sofirn flashlight had the form factor of the James screwdriver. I like thin, flat EDC gear and a thin flat flashlight would be oh so comfortable in the pocket. The James driver doesn’t stack up against the Gen 1 Big Idea Design driver in the price range and the Gen 2 make it look poorly designed, the only reason not to angle the bit like the Gen 2 is because they didn’t do their market research. I have the Gen 1 BID driver and with plenty of use under my belt angling the driver is an absolute must.
    £140 for a fidget ring! Are you serious!?
    If you want a tactical pen look up the Mantis Pen, it crushes the Surevital.
    Power bank: BT-20 - It takes multiple type of batteries and you can use them one at a time so you only carry what you need, it holds one battery at a time and they’re are quickly removable. Add an In Charge X charging cable and you can charge anything.
    Can’t complain about Sofirn, quality products and looks like a great update. Glad I didn’t buy the original as that one looks like a worthy purchase. I’m not a fan of the weird modes but the 4 way button makes that irrelevant.
    The bladed pry tool is illegal in the UK as the blade is locking, worth mentioning. I have a titanium Stanley blade “knife” but had to replace the blade with blunt Big Idea Design blade for EDC, they work great.

      BID screwdrivers are great - this is lighter and easier to carry - BID has other advantages.
      Fidget ring is good value factoring in quality - check out other quality fidget gear to compare.
      Mantis has different applications.
      BT-20 is much bigger.

    If somebody was sitting near me in the cinema with one of those Rings they would likely get stabbed with a Swiss Army knife .
    It will be nice if the screwdriver had a magnetically detained draw and an extension but otherwise I really like it.
    That pen and the cable wouldn't interest me and the torch is too big for EDC carry and the silly lights are very annoying but it would be a good thing to have in the glove box admittedly.
    I wouldn't buy the speaker or the miniature multi tool.

    That ratchet ring might be the thing to counteract my knuckle cracking which will lead to arthritis if I don’t stop. Interesting

    • @stephenbarabas6286
      @stephenbarabas6286 Před měsícem +1

      No
      Cracking your knuckles may aggravate the people around you, but it won't raise your risk for arthritis. That's the conclusion of several studies that compared rates of hand arthritis among habitual knuckle-crackers and people who didn't crack their knuckles.
      The "pop" of a cracked knuckle is caused by bubbles bursting in the synovial fluid - the fluid that helps lubricate joints

    With UK law being what it is, I'd be very wary at carrying a pen that markets itself as a self defence tool. "Any article made [...] for use for causing injury" is the definition of an offensive weapon. You might inadvertently land in hot water here. Sure, any pen can feasibly be a weapon so too becoming an offensive weapon, but a regular pen is perhaps less-likely to make someone question the owner's motives for having it.

    the tau seems way too fiddly. banging around in a bag is probably gonna wake it up and kill it quickly. plus I don't want to have to remember tap commands just to use a power bank, many power banks are smart enough to swap from battery to charge mode automatically, as it's a USB C standard.

    Amazing the quantity and quality of gear that can be had when you get most of it free. Most of this gear is stupidly priced for the average EDC user.

    Why companies are still using micro USB is beyond me. It's something that would definitely stop me buying a product and look for an alternative.

    Not sure you should advocate that pen as a means of self defence. Anything deemed usable as a weapon is classed as an illegal carry.

    • @JonGadget
      @JonGadget  Před měsícem +1

      Depends on the Country - this is made in the US and this is how they market it - although I imagine any pen could be useful in self-defence.
