Sorry, it appears we changed the code for the Schwarz Overland Sport to BDEDC. My apologies bit.ly/3OU1dr5
Made in America only for me.
Thank you for the code! Any idea how long it’s good for?
I have for sale the spear of destiny. One million dollars and you can rule the world. I get it back the day after you turn into a Corpse. It's a Front Pocket EDC Chef Knife.
“It’s in the cheaper side $135-$175”. Ouch, right in my poors.
Right, where's the race to the bottom for fixed blades.😅 Magnacut is even marked up extra $200 for being new.
My mind exactly
That was the point where I said, "That's the cheaper side? That is about the limit I am willing to pay for a large knife! Next video - this one is too rich for my blood."
I'm not criticizing the video, mind you. I'm just saying there is no point in ME watching it.
@@JAB671 I feel you, I still watch them for the most part when I have downtime because I’m a nerd I suppose. But I like to hear different peoples opinions on said topics. As far as knives go Taylor’s taste is a lot more expensive than mine, I’m not knocking him or his videos but I’m just looking for a quality tool. It doesn’t have to have the latest greatest super steel or keep up with the joneses so to speak. Maybe one of these days I’ll splurge on a $200+ pocket knife, but that day surely won’t be soon lol. I also understand that what a dude who reviews knives and gear on social media is going to be carrying/reviewing alot of the times isn’t going to make sense for me because I just need a tool I’m not making anything from reviewing it etc. With all that having been said I’d suggest watching the “budget” episodes Taylor does, as well as knife center and bode hq. There are 100% solid quality knives for less than $135. Don’t be discouraged.
@@John5.56 Oh, I watch lots of knife videos. I just have different tastes. I have spent around $150 on Esee knives (a five and a six with the contoured G10 scales) but that is just about my upper limit and only for a bigger slab of steel. Other people have different wants/tastes/needs and I like almost all knives but small knives just aren't my 'thing' to the point I want to spend a lot on them. For smaller, fixed blade knives my picks are:
1. The CRKT Minimalist series (around twenty bucks each). My favorite of those is the Katana which costs more than the others but has a much bigger blade.
2. The Cold Steel Mini-Tac series. I have the skinner (upswept blade similar to a Schrade Sharpfinger) and the Beaver Tail (broad leaf type blade - CS stopped making that one years ago).
3. The Cold Steel Spike series. I only have one of those - the one that is just called 'The Spike'.
4. And for a slightly more expensive one, the KaBar/Becker EsKabar.
I have a few, other small fixed blades but those are the 'core' of that part of my collection.
As for a $200 pocket knife there is exactly one folder that I will probably, eventually lay out that kind of cash to purchase. It isn't a Benchmade, a Chris Reeves, etc. it is a Buck. Specifically a Buck 110 from their custom shop. It will have nickel bolsters, stag grips, an upgraded steel and possibly a drop point blade instead of a clip point. I have a semi-custom from a batch that was sold on Amazon that has light Walnut scales and a D2, drop point blade that didn't really cost any more than the standard version. I like the drop point blade in that 110. Anyhow, the one with stag handles, etc. is a folder I will splurge on one of these days. Kind of like some folks have a barbecue gun that will be my barbecue knife - and I might get some stag inserts for my Ruger SP101 to match!
My top 3 -
1. Esee Izula - Two blade options 1095 = 55 USD to about 75 USD and S35v - around 80-100 USD (I carry this one more so than any other knife in the S35v version) Designed and made in America, no questions asked lifetime warranty. A lot of aftermarket support for scales and sheaths. I prefer RK Custom Sheaths and Armatus Carry.
2. Mora Eldris - Fantastic functional knife for around 25 USD on sale to about 40 USD . Every thing from Bushcraft to EDC, pocketable, belt carry, neck whatever.
3. Esee 3 - Honestly I often EDC belt carry larger knives and the 3 is probably the largest knife you can get away with pocket carry but typically its best carried on the belt. Again both 1095 and S35v options are great depending on your budget and preferences. Again huge aftermarket support and no questions asked warranty.
Esee Izula is my top choice too. You can abuse it and it has great multifunction
you should really make a video with some more budget friendly fixed blades. I lot of people would really really appreciate if ya did.
dude... I clipped out after 3 blades... Great stuff but I'm not in the market for this level of review.
Yeah this whole thing feels like rich guy content. Who the hell is carrying $350 knives to work?
I would also like a budget video
Budget please
I highly recommend the Old Timer Sharpfinger for a nice lil fixed blade with a quality leather sheath and they are being made in the USA again. I just picked one up at walmart for 23 bucks, but on the OT website its about 35. Cheers
I like your content but honestly, I'm not going for $200+, boutique, or limited runs / drops. I like fix blades and you can get quality for under $140.
You mean like a Bradford?
you can get quality for 80.00$ all day if you shop around and know your knife steels and needs!
Your idea of "CHEAP" are completely different than mine. Just saying.
Yeah I would say a cheap knife is around $40-$50
His idea of "cheap" starts from $120, so yeah... For me, the best budget friendly fixed edc knife is CRKT minimalist, shame it doesn't come with a clip, but you just need ulticlip or smh like that and you're good to go. Some versions comes with D2, so it's a pretty good deal
Agreed! My edc fixed is a Ka-bar bk14 Eskabar I got for $35 years ago. Great knife.
Completely agree with the original comment
Each to their own....but agree lol
Taylor, your new stuff is cool and all but i keep going back to all your EDC Weekly/Complete My Carry vids from a few years ago, I wish you would bring them back 🔪. Comment if you agree
Same
Me too.
I agree ☝️
Agreed

I absolutely adore my Jakebcreates Chickadee with an oakcityleathersupply sheath. It carries so well, plenty of blade with just enough handle for me to comfortably use it.
What an amazing list of knives! Thanks so much for having us part of it. Just wait until you see our new EDC fixed blade for 2024. We are hoping to reveal it at Blade Show Atlanta 2024. All I can say is it’s compact and super slicey. I hope you like hollow ground MagnaCut.
Hey Guys, Trevin from Roac! - Another incredible lineup, Taylor. It's always fun to see the current state of your Guardian 3 sheath, the patina is *chef's kiss* and the bruised denim hue just kicks it up a notch. Thanks for including us in your rundown of these models, going to have to hit to the design board on a couple of them!
If I had to add more to the list, I'd say the L.T Wright Patriot & Maverick Colt deserve a look. I stayed away from the Patriot for too long because of no lanyard hole and the knobby end of the handle, but once I pulled the trigger and got it in hand I was sold. Super comfy, great little cutter, and very pocketable. I've been testing out a micro Bushcraft/Survival style pocket clip sheath setup for it, with a few purposeful bells and whistles, and will be making it available shortly.
Another MUCH BIGGER run of Guardian 3 sheaths will be available soon. I've been working on a new design since last September and will be launching it very soon!
Great video! I gotta say, my go to pocket fixed blade is the Primitive Woodsman EDC. Great size, deceptively light weight and you can buy em with a leather pocket sheath and multi clip
I carry a Bradford 3 in Magnacut with carbon fiber scales. Love that knife
I've got the Griffin Co. Scout and Scout Medic and I absolutely love both of them. Fantastic list of options. Keep the videos coming.
I took the belt loop attachment off of my Benchmade Anonimus and have been edc-ing it in my front right pocket for months now,... love it!
My favorite general edc fixed blade atm is the Rogan Field Knife Compact. My work edc is the Rogan Ranger. I’ve really come to love chisel grinds.
Great list. :)
My top 3 small fixed blades.
Budget. Ferrum forge lackey.
Middle ground. Bmkt edc1.
Fancy. Winkler sd1.
My EDC fixed blade lately has been the Boker Little Dvalin.
I like a thick, chonky blade that feels like it can do some serious work. Love the looks, modified it a bit by removing the Teflon coating on the D2 blade, and sculpting the sheath to add clearance for the front finger while fully sheathed. Setup for scout carry, and all for $60 Canadian.
Really nice presentations! You do a great job of helping with various choices folks can make, and also make it “fun”, which is a good thing. I am pretty big on EDC fixed blades, but also like folders. Thanks!
I absolutely adore my fixed barlow from boker. It's everything I wanted....except the sheath it comes with is AWEFUL. Haven't found a good replacement yet. Keep us posted.
Backed the Scout feather a few weeks ago. Thanks for the mini review.
Esee Izula 2, might work for you( kydex, good clip), on a separate note the Esee is great for appendix carry with clip out/ hardwear in, you would be surprised how comfortable and useful that is.
Too common for who? ( not me)
Yes I love the Bradford Guardian line of knives & the White River M1 Caper. Never leave home without one of these. The errors on the White River are the best.
I have tried a few in this genre as well. not many, but a few. My favorite so far has been the MKM Mikro. Excellent for detail-oriented tasks and super compact carry. The sheath style is highly recommended (except if you work around metal a lot like I do) and sold separately. I am greatly anticipating David C. Anderson's Pocket Tango that is supposed to be coming here soon (that has the same style sheath).
Dylan at Oak City Leather makes excellent sheaths. I’ve ordered a few from him with the UltiClip and they’re great.
Been carrying the Overland Sport for a couple of months now and it's everything I had hoped it would be. I'm very interested in any of the Wickets and that Griffin Co. You're definitely right when you say there are so many good options out there, it can sometimes be overwhelming.
Great top ten picks. I finally picked up the Bradford Guardian 3. That Boker AK1 is next.
Great video! I have a Schwartz Overland Sport. It is indeed fantastic, but the sheath is quite wide for my pockets. I switched from an Ulticlip to IWB loops, and now it's better.
I also have that Burnley Fixed Barlow in OD micarta and brass pins. It's a stout, tough little bugger, not a slicer.
Both these knives are super interesting.
My M1 Pro has been a great hiking companion since I got it, I have 3xl hands and I find it very comfy. Not something I usually find in small fixed blades. I am getting the magnacut version now that it’s out 😁
I have the Guardian 3 and got the 3.2 as well.
I gotta say the little update on the 3.2 really makes a big difference in handling.
Love the video keep up the awesome content
Seems pretty great for the price. I'll have to add it to my list. Thanks for sharing this!
I love my Bradford Guardian 3 & Winkler knives are amazing but once I started carrying the MKC Mini Speedgoat it was over … that is now my EDC … period!
Spot on sheaths super important...i like carrying a fixed blade high and easily hidden...my top pick tops rapid strike...easyily concealed kydex
Great to see you show a winkler! I live in Wilkes and have Taylor sharpen by benchmade claymore every time I’m in the store (Duncan Guns). If you’ve never seen the video, Taylor did a great interview with Daniel Winkler and it explains a lot about why he makes his knives so “beefy” - Huge connection to the special operator divisions in the military.
I carry a wide variety of smaller fixed blades starting with a Yuca Bladeworks Persev It is great. Chris's sheaths are some of my favorites. My work carry blade is a Dauntless Dogbone, a Matt Helm design. I scored a Hot & Ready in AEB-L & canvas micarta. I added a deep carry sheath, it works better in the pencil pockets of Carhartts. Also, Greg Moffat's OPK. Simple, sharp, & pointy. Finally Temple Knives! The Vimana, basic, and clean. Just some other options for you to look at.
I have been carrying the Petes Pirate Life Skelly and II leather wrapped the handle. AMAZING knife but I am also hunting for sheath options and might have to reach out to Oak City for something. I also have the Guardian 3 and love that knife too but again the sheath is an issue. I usually carry a folder in pocket and fixed on the belt (cross carry), so I am looking for slim cross carry options too. Great video Taylor, thanks for the great content!
I’ve got a Jason Knight Hummingbird. Love the blade profile and the small utilitarian nature of the knife.
Awesome to see the Scout Feather, cannot wait to get mine.
Hi Taylor,
interesting video. From your list I liked the Bradford, the AK1 and the Black Rabbit the best. I still like to use the following fixed as an EDC:
Satre - Extrema Ratio
Heidi Blacksmith #1 - Bestech
Lille Bjoern - Tuya
All come in a Kydex, but fit into the leather sheath of the AK1 from dpsteelandleather.
Then I also like the larger Charlie two from Pohl Force.
The Charlie two and the Satre are wider and more robust blades that can be used more for rougher work.
Greetings from Germany
Gerd
I’m personally a big fan of the benchmade hidden canyon hunter. I took the belt mounting equipment off the kydex sheath and it sits surprisingly flush in my back pocket. It’s super durable and stays sharp, and has an excellent blade to handle ratio. It’s a workhorse and I use it at work constantly. Can’t recommend it enough
Gmf 1 man.. my go to fixie. Love that you started with that❤
The Griffin Co. Scout is sweeeeet! And I agree, that sheath is awesome.
Good stuff. We're fans of small EDC fixed blades here at the shop.
Thanks for the feedback ...you have my creative juices flowing! Great vid!
Looked at them for years, didn’t have a lot of money but wanted a small fixed blade for neck carry so finally broke down and bought a CRKT SPEW for 25 bucks. What a handy little fixed blade; it’s light, the kidex sheath has good retention. The blade can’t be beat for piercing tasks and it handles most edc tasks I run into on a day to day basis. For some of us, over a hundred dollars is expensive so this is a cheap option. Only negative I have is that it is made in China.
Got one. Got tired of sharpening it every other day. Good knife, great design, crap steel.
@@charlessalmond7076 totally agree; if they would upgrade this knife to D2, and lengthen the blade to 3 or 3 1/4 inches it would sell like hot cakes!
Love mine
The Overland Sport is the one I want. Good video. Thanks
If you want a great pocket carry EDC blade check out the Creely Mako. I wasn't into pocket carry fixed at the time, always went with appendix carry. When I got the Mako in magnacut I had a kydex appendix sheath made. After a month or so I had to dress up a bit and decided to try the pocket sheath. I've been using it ever since. The blade is one of the best I've ever used, been a knife guy since I earned my first cub scout folder in 1971and this blade has made it through a year of daily use on a small ranch with only 2 strops. It's so light that you don't even notice that it's there bit it is so easily accessible, especially in jeans or overalls. The handle looks a bid weird but melts into your hand. Might be a bit narrow if you have extra large hands though, good for medium-large hands. The sheath changed the way I use knives with it's deep carry uniclip. Worth a look.
I have a Creely Mako as well. Great knife, well made, sheath is great. Knife fits snugly and deep into the sheath. I liked it so much that I looked up Gary at the last Blade Show to shake his hand and thank him for his work.
I have a guardian 3 and i actually love the original sheath it came with it lays horizontally on the belt nice and tight i wear it up front above my right pocket of my jeans
Cool video thanks. I bought a cheap cold steel with a gift card and a citadel as a bday present to self but those are my only fixed blades so far
Cool stuff!
Would love to see this series continue. Maybe I different categories. Budget fixies, larger blades, etc. Lionsteel has some sweet options right now. Currently deciding between an M4 and B41 for a camp knife (The H1 is pretty sweet too).
Great video Tyler . I really want to get my hands on the new MKM pocket tango with the reverse tanto. I'm pretty new to pocket carrying a fixed blade. And that one has been speaking to me.
Ditto! Have one on pre order and can't wait to see it in person
Pocket tango is super cool. I like the nessmuk
my edc is the boker lucas burnley bff. has the inside the pocket leather sheath. i flippin love this knife. oh yeah, i got the wooden handle.
I’ve been carrying the AK1 regularly for over a year now, and have just added the Overland Sport to the collection. The Overland Sport fits into the AK1’s sheath nicely and carries just as well if anyone is looking for another carrying option.
Great video, I myself am just starting to get into (compact) fixed knives atm. Here in Germany the Sven Kinast designed SK09 from his company Messerdepot is very popular right now. I don’t know if it’s available anywhere in the US, but it’s an awesome compact fixed blade.
Tayler that’s a great list of knives. Where can I buy one of those knife rolls? Preferably the larger one for my fixed blades.
Thanks
Cool fixed blades! I don't carry one but it is cool seeing them in people's carry!
Great video EDC fixed nice nice.
Very cool stuff! I will order some leather sheath for my Esee Izula II just like yours.
I carry the Joker Avispa with canvas micarta handle. It is a great knife that is also affordable. Another very discreet fixed bade I own is the Kizer Variable.
CountyComm makes a nice fixed blade. The R4A has a 3.65" blade length, made in D2 Steel & nice kydex sheath.
Multitool in my pocket, fixed on my belt 11:00 cross draw. Flagrant Beard Havock has been my pick for a little due to the weight while but Esee Izula and Tops El Pionero also works. Looking to acquire a TKell this year.
On the outdoor side of things: going to pick up a Condor Bushscot in 14c28n next month. 👍🏼 sgian dubh.
Not a fan of in pocket EDC fixed blades. I am a big fan of fixed EDC however, couple of years ago bought a TOPs C.U.T. 4.0 and have never been without it out doors. Excellent sheath as well. Have used it for bushcraft, game processing and personal defense, and it never lets me down. Holds a great edge with light touch up after heavy use. Great Knife!!
Taylor you hit the nail on the head!
Nice video Taylor.
Just purchased a Bradford 3.2 in magnacut.
Get an oak city leather sheath to go with it
Headed over there now to peek-around. Thanks@@halo3762
@@halo3762which sheath do you recommend for a Bradford 3.2? Never heard of oak city until I read this comment but I just looked at their website and they have some awesome stuff!
If your interested in a great budget fied blade, the Artisan cutlery ses snake is a great knife. I've used 1 for a couple years now at work.
Always love all your content am missing the weekly live streams tho
I prefer belt carry for a fixed blade, as pocket carry sheaths are far more bulky than a folding knife. I haven't carried a fixed blade for a few years, but they're wonderfully useful.
Try the Pocket Tango, you can find it at Knife Centter, great little fixed blade, Magnacut by the way, and you can order it with wood handles, carbon fiber or G10 I believe. I got the one with wood handles and is already getting patina, I love it!!
Interesting video. I feel the same you do about belt carry but serious question. Do you know of any belt carry configurations that dare I say you forget the knife is on your belt? That's what I have been hoping for as I also turned to fixed blades.
Thank you for fixed blade video. I haven't carried one in pocket. I like a workhorse knife, carry on belt. Can you do a budget friendly video on fixed blades please?
Thanks for another great video! Quick question… Can I ask what waxed jacket you’re wearing in the still for this video? I can only see a bit but it looks 🔥
Love me a good EDC fixed blade, one you should give a look at is the Primitive Bear knives Hunter EDC. It’s my favorite out of all the ones I’ve owned
Since you mentioned it already, the Boker Barlow BFF is a nice EDC carry. But you should checkt the new version that will come out end of March. The Boker BFF Packlite in Magnacut. That thing looks like it will be a great deal.
My one and only fixed knife is a Bradford Guardian 3.5 carried in a IWB Oak City Leather sheath. It works nice…
I've been using the Barlow BFF and the AK1 for about a year now, they are awesome blades. I only need to get new sheets for them.
I love my Bradford G3 Sheepsfoot. I also have a regular G3 and a G3.2
Personally, i always carry it on my belt in a Kydex sheath and Tek-lok. I always have too many other things in my pockets, and i dont mind things on my belt.
Love the Tkell Piranha. Tim and his wife are great.
The nightstalker is my daily carry. Love Tkell.
I've EDC'd a small fixed blade neck knife in conjunction with a folding knife for years now, usually a CRKT Minimalist, but now I'm concerning that Wicked now that I've seen yours. Lol. That's a great idea since I've already got the Viking Spark. Just Sayin.
great vid
I've been rolling around with a Buck 113. Very classic looking, very nice ebony wood handle, big enough to get a full grip. Belt sheath, nice leather, good retention. Not sure if there are alternatives to the belt sheath though 😂
I just got the CRKT Razel compact and the sheath is my main problem. But I love the knife.
Tkell is great! Lots of good options here! Great vid brotha
I have been carrying a white river backpacker for a while now and love it! I've been thinking about picking up an essee izula II
Came to comments to see if anyone mentioned the izula ii- it’s a great knife for the price, I believe I picked up mine for around $70 or $80. I’d recommend it for sure.
I carry a Toor Darter every day and I love it!
Take a look at LT Wright Patriot. May be the overall best edc fixed blade from a high end maker and just a great bunch of guys.
I enjoyed the list. I own a Bradford but I like em a lil bigger. You should check out TRC. They have some of the best fixed blades. I keep it just under 4” but I also work outdoors
I always use a static belt line for my edc fixed blades. I personally carry an SRK-C without any trouble or dicomfort.
Great video, I just picked up the Asher lil buddy! Trust me you need to check it out. Amazing price point also
Its my EDC fixed blade too. I'm loving it.
That Griffin is sick!
I had a lot of fixed edc.. but the jackelope from white river rocks them all
Great video. Some of those knives and sheaths are pricey or hard to find. I have been carrying pocket knives for over 40 years. What would you suggest for someone to start with that is available and affordable?
Love the look of the Vero Axon. Wish it was available for purchase. I feel like its been 'Coming soon' forever. Lol.
Go get that wood-handled Wicket!! Just dropped.
Great video, and love this list.
Mine is the Bear Forest Knives On Three EDC! Look it up, Great vid Bro
Izula 2 in an appendix carry guardian 3 leather sheath is my favorite fixed blade combination and budget friendly
MKM Terzuola design TPF in Magnacut. And the sheath is near perfect.
if it was 10-20% bigger it might be the only thing I ever carry
Didn't realize the scout feather was a Kickstarter, looked it up and I like the look and price point so I decided to back outdoor element and I'll see it in June...lol
The Böker Barlow BFF is one of my favorite fixed blades for EDC. Especially the wallnut-version. It combines a more "traditional" bladeshape with a sleek and simplistic handledesign. There will be coming out a skeletonised version called "Böker BFF Packlite". I`m really looking forward to that one.
Heat treat was pretty bad on mine. Love the design though.
Izula 2 in an appendix carry guardian 3 sheath is my favorite fixed blade combination and budget friendly
