Captain mainly uses this combo, since it does more damage than the default combo and it gives you Arts level faster square > square> triangle > square > triangle > triangle (hold)

not much but there're some minor differences, mostly in the form of different animation for Overdrive Surge. Gran (Male Captain)'s version comes out faster making it go on cooldown earlier but also making it harder to cancel out of the animation before the skill goes on cooldown.

yes, I think the only thing Gran has issue with is dodge cancelling out of Overdrive Surge to keep it from going on cooldown, but I didn't actually use that here since I didn't use roter bug on Reginleiv

However, if you aren't planning to use the roter bug then you can definitely try dropping skilled assault for it. Although in multiplayer Linked Together is another good option in that slot.

That’s the easiest way, but if you want to try to get it legit, save up 99999 MSP and save your game. Then roll all your points and if you don’t get something good, reload and go do a single quest then repeat the process, usually takes me around 5-10 quests to get something worth keeping

First, set your FPS as high as you can preferably 120fps then put a Skilled Assault sigil or 2 on so your Decimate damage can reach the higher dmg cap of Overdrive Surge. Also try taking off your supp DMG sigil to make the number easier to see. After you're all set, get to Art Level IV then use Decimate, wait a tiny bit after you see Captain's feet land on the ground and then dodge cancel into Overdrive Surge, if no slashes come out for Decimate and there's no damage it means you're dodge cancelling too early.

Playing on 60 or even better 120 fps makes it easier. Other than that just make sure you dodge cancel decimate as soon as it allows you to and still get the damage, might take a bit of practice.

Decimate first then overdrive, remember to test it with art level IV so you have more hits on the Decimate to work with. Also put on a skilled assault if you didn't have one on to raise decimate's damage so it can reach overdrive's cap.

Quite a bit I’m afraid, with more optimal rotation, it drops from 39mil to 32.1mil, so you’re looking at around a 21% drop in dps on a 60s damage parse

I’ll consider it but honestly I’m still learning new things about the character all the time, not sure if I’m the best person to make a guide on them.

they are being a hybrid chara so cant compete with dps chara for sure but it's not dps race game so play whatever you like

If your goal is to do the highest damage possible then sure Captain’s probably not what you’re looking for but her damage is more than competitive when you look at the entire cast. So excuse me while I go on to get MVP with the Captain while using only damage skills.

@@ogopogo1109 The thing is I'm not even talking about just DPS. Just go offline and solo bosses and see who is easier. Then, you will see which character is clearly better out of the pack.

Depends on the situation and how close you’re to stunning an enemy but generally speaking XXYXY or XYXXY into charged Y is what I tend to go with if I’m building from scratch

The more combo finisher you can do the better since it’s what has the higher damage cap in her kit but since she still has to worry about getting her class level up she can’t really abuse jump finisher like Ferry and has to do her full aerial combo. As for her charge attack parry it seems to work against most things for me but the timing is more severe than Percival’s.

brother I don't know if you're new to video games but legit any game be it jrpg or mmo people will do sandbag parses for fun. and also these rotations can be used when speed running bosses and manipulating them to be down the whole fight. btw Every character does not deal 30-40m. I wish Siegfried hit that much in 60 seconds. Not sure why you're so bothered by this.

you're right the game isn't very balanced but it's always nice to try to figure out what optimal rotation and gear is for your character, obviously you're not going to do the same damage in a real fight but knowing how to do maximum damage and which moves in your kit contribute to your damage the most will help you determine the best course of action to take.

I’ve heard that the higher your frame rate the easier it is but a general tip is to dodge toward the enemy to shorten your dodge distance allowing you to use the second skill faster, hope that helps!

It’s easy compared to the amount of dodge cancel Io needs to do XD

Yah, it does have some similarity, but I think the combat dynamic feels pretty different since the game's bosses seem to take more from MMO raids and you kind of have to approach them slightly differently
