Someone asked for some tips on how to play Charlotta, thought I'd do a solo run to showcase how she works while I'm at it. Honestly Charlotta is a pretty simple character to get a hang of, at the end of her normal attack combo, she would go into Noble Stance, where she imbue her sword with light and do a continuous flurry of attacks as long as you keep pressing square, and if you dodge while you're doing the flurry, you can go straight back into it afterward without having to restart your combo from the start all over again. Charlotta's Link Attack and skills (with the exception of holy ladder due it to leading into high jump state) will also also imbue her weapon with light allowing you to go straight into Noble Stance. However, blocking or using her triangle attack, Noble Strategy, will reset her combo string. This brings us to the topic of her triangle attack, Noble Strategy.
When you use Noble Strategy, she'll jump high into the air and you can make a follow-up attack in the following ways:
    1. By not pressing any button, this will make Charlotta drop down doing a spinning attack that does 3 hits and has long recovery seems to be the option that does the most damage.
    2. By pressing square, this will make Charlotta spin forward in the air toward your target and slam her sword into the ground, this also has longest recovery but will allow you to chase your target.
    3. By pressing triangle, this will make Charlotta stab downward with her sword which seems to have the shortest recovery out of all 3 options but has no forward momentum.
Beside the follow-up attacks, Noble Strategy also has build in auto-guard property that starts from the moment you press the triangle button to when she reach the zenith of her jump. However, since this is considered the same as L1 guard, it will deplete your guard gauge when you guard enemy attacks with it. To check how much guard gauge you have left, press L1 and you'll see a little blue circle appear in front of your character, when it turns yellow and then red it means you're getting closer to being guard broken. When you do get guard broken, it will knock you back and you will take a portion of the damage that was done by the attack. Now I've tested Noble Strategy quite a bit but there's still parts of it that confuses me, it would seem that you are not able to perfect guard with it but for some reason, sometimes even when you're on red guard you won't get guard broken if you time Noble Strategy just right. I'll leave it to someone better at testing than me to find out exactly what's going on with it, for now, all you have to remember is that you can use Noble Strategy to guard while you continue to do damage.
Other than that there's not much you need to worry about while playing Charlotta in the demo, just know that her Valiant Stance skill can give her an attack damage buff that builds over time slowly up to 120% attack damage, however getting damaged will remove this effect, so her gameplay revolves around keeping yourself in Noble Stance doing her flurry of attacks for as long as possible while using dodge, guard and Noble Strategy to avoid damage.
I hope this has been helpful to people trying to learn how to play Charlotta!

Thanks for the breakdown of how her triangle works! Like I said in the original Charlotta video, I was able to guess how it worked but having this one complements my understanding even more. This time, was new for me was the fact that the auto-block from triangle shared the block "potential" from L1. Great solo run by the way!!!

The amount of damage is so abnormal, the injury-free video of me playing yodarha is almost twice as long as yours

Yoda is much harder to play well too, good job on the injury free solo run!

I only dabbled in her a bit, I still need to get used to dodge in the air with her to avoid getting hit while doing her aerial combo

I am planning to main Charlotta once the game come out. I sadly cannot play the demo since I use PC. Btw, I'm curious whether perfect guarding is better than parrying for her?

I’m unsure as to whether you can get a perfect guard with her triangle attack still, I did notice however in the dev streams that Charlotta has talents related to perfect guarding in the full game, so I think it’ll highly depend on what gives her the most benefit in the long run

I can see your finger pain here lol, I really hope they add a toggle option to hold the button down for button mash characters, lancelot and charlotte are too much for my hand after 3+ quests.

yah, it's one of the reason why I'm probably going to end up playing on PC, at least I can set a macro to button mash for me when I hold the button down.

0:13 what is this and why did you use it instead of dodge?

It’s a perfect guard (L1), when you perfect guard it fills the enemey’s stun gauge allowing you to Link attack them sooner. If you check 0:39 you can see me use it to stun the golem faster.

So how long did it take you to perfect your perfect blocks and counters?

    • @ogopogo1109
      @ogopogo1109  Před 6 měsíci +1

For the golem it’s not that difficult for the most part, the move that gives me the most trouble is his big red circle aoe, I still have trouble getting the right timing for that
