Took me around 5 tries to get this run and while it was nowhere near perfect it's still pretty fun figuring out how to skip Overdrive phases. For those of you coming from my Captain 60 second damage parse video, this is probably a better showcase of how to play the character inside of an actual fight, I hope this ends up helping those looking to get into playing danchou!
@howardlam6181 since you're so adamant about Captain being the lowest on the tier list and challenged me to solo bosses to see how bad they are, I've done exactly what you've asked. And now here's a challenge for you instead. I'll freely admit that against the Firewyrm, aerial Rackam, Narmaya, Io, Vaseraga, Rotor bug Percival and Charlotta are all significantly better than the Captain, that leaves you the rest of the cast that you can use to see just how easy it is to beat my time with them. I'll even make it easier on you and let you choose any one of them rather than having to do it with all of them. Good luck and I hope you have fun doing the challenge! - Hry

This game literally tells every single player at the begining of the mastery " *every* character can become a powerhouse". Captain is no exception. It just takes more than two braincells than to mash or just jump and shoot.

People severely underestimate how strong the captain really is. I just play it casually (like most chars) without a lot of dodge cancelling and so on but damn! The captain is low key really strong. Has very little setup time, has a fun rotation especially with reginleiv to dump your arts/class level to rebuild it for the cooldowns. I was surprised decimate does ~1.2mil dmg(on my build) while it has such an incredibly low cooldown. Glad to have found another captain enjoyer in the wild!

@@ogopogo1109 I'm a Djeeta main/simp in very game(In rising djeeta S rank) and she is so fun to play here. Great video. I got a maxed optimized build too without glass canon and she just melts everything. Doesn't feel weak at all lol
Could you make a guide showing best combos for building act level, and also things like best combos during link time etc. like a full blown guide instead of just showcase. You have so much knowledge on this character. I would like to pick up captain and play them to full potential.
I’ll consider it but honestly I’m still learning new things about the character all the time, not sure if I’m the best person to make a guide on them.
How do you reliably do the overdrive surge + decimate tech? I cant seem to get the hang of it
Playing on 60 or even better 120 fps makes it easier. Other than that just make sure you dodge cancel decimate as soon as it allows you to and still get the damage, might take a bit of practice.
@@ogopogo1109 hold on so i do overdrive and then decimate or decimate and then overdrive?
Decimate first then overdrive, remember to test it with art level IV so you have more hits on the Decimate to work with. Also put on a skilled assault if you didn't have one on to raise decimate's damage so it can reach overdrive's cap.
