  • This video is about how to assemble the Pakayak Bluefin 142 kayak. Assembling the Pakayak kayak could get quite daunting the first time round and it took me about 20 minutes to assemble. It definitely got quicker as I got accustomed to the Pakayak and now, I can assemble it within minutes.
    I will also show you the spray skirt that you can purchase as an optional extra!

    Very interesting. I had always been skeptical about packable style kayaks, but seeing you put it together it does look like it is really sturdy. The one issue I would have is after a few hours of kayaking, I don't think I'd have the patience to pack everything back up properly into its bag, but it looks like an easy process.

      I've always wanted to kayak before but I never really had the space to store it. Now that I live in Hong Kong, our apartments are even smaller and the only viable option was folding, packable, modular kayaks.
      The packing is fairly simple! I still take it back out again to hose it, dry it, and then pack again 😅

      @@Fishaholicboy yes I completely understand the need for folding/packable kayaks, I'm impressed how sturdy they are.

      Thanks for watching! I was also skeptical in the beginning and had no option to get these types of kayaks due to our homes being tiny over here in Hong Kong.. it was all or nothing. But afterwards, it feels like any other kayak out there and most importantly, it gets me on the water ☺️

    Great video! I recently got a Pakayak and I noticed a couple of things on your disassembly. 1.) you don't need to remove the cockpit pad. I think it helps keep the latches from scratching up the boat, plus there's the extra time involved. 2.) Piece # 6 (tailpiece) should be turned 1/4 turn to the right to make packing easier (according to Pakayak's instructions). I got the rudder kit, and this is necessary to ensure the rudder bracket tits under the rim of the next piece (#5). That spray skirt looks nice! I'll have to get one of those soon. Thanks and happy paddling!

    • @Fishaholicboy
      @Fishaholicboy  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! Great to meet a fellow Pakayak owner :) Have you used it much? Thanks for your feedback! For the cockpit pad, I usually take it off to rinse it in freshwater and dry it before storing it back. That's why I have to re-attach it every time even though it's a bit of a nuisance. Great tip on the tailpiece.. I got to try that next time out. I really like the spray skirt. Makes a difference although I don't think I will use it much when it gets too hot.. but will depend on what I am doing.

      @@Fishaholicboy I got mine with the Black Friday deal, so I’ve only been out a few times so far. We’re in North Carolina, USA and the weather looks nice tomorrow, so we may go for a paddle (my wife has an Oru Beach LT). That makes sense removing the cockpit pad to rinse since you are paddling in salt water. Enjoy your weekend!

    Great video showing off all the important details! I am also strongly considering buying one but am super restricted when it comes to length of the packed unit. The website states 107cm length when packed - and I have exavtly 110cm of space, not a mm more. You mentioned 113 cm - could it be that you measure longer because you stacked the skirt & towel on top of the assembly?
    I would greatly appreciate a reply - your videos have been the best to get to know the kayak without actually seeing it yet (kinda hard in europe).

    • @Fishaholicboy
      @Fishaholicboy  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi! Glad this video helped! I tried to make this video as comprehensive as possible as I couldn't find a video myself with every detail that I wanted to see.
      Regarding the measurement, I just measured it (but using a 30cm ruler so please consider margin of error). I had 113cm height when the Pakayak was in the BAG. The wheel is about 2cm high. With padding top and bottom, I measured 113cm without the spray skirt inside the bag.
      I also took it out of the bag to measure and I got 106cm so you can potentially store the bag and the Pakayak separately (but again, please consider margin of error). The top piece is on an angle so I tried to measure the highest point. It seems like it is extremely close to the space you have! My concern is you will have to slide it in your space and it won't be the easiest. Depending on the floor, you may need a thin towel to avoid any damage when sliding it in.
      Hope it helps!
